  1. I’d guess that IU was the dream school for Gallo and Leal so it still happens sometimes which kind of surprises me as we have made the Elite 8 once in the past 30 years. Due to our 30 year relative lack of success (for a “blue blood”) I’m also surprised we still have as many young fans as we do.

    (2025) - (C) Malachi Moreno to Kentucky

I was always skeptical that we would land a dude that lives 20 minutes from Rupp arena. In the old days this would sting quite a bit but in the current environment losing him just means we will have to go shopping at the “Big Man Store” after the season. Not a big deal.

    IUFB Offseason Updates

McCulley has been here several years but said he hasn’t been pushed this hard since his days at Lawrence North……ZING!!!

(2025) - PF Eric Reibe to UConn

IU, Oregon, Kansas, UCONN etc…..The kid is going to ring the register regardless of where he goes. I can’t imagine being a top 100 16-17 year old mulling through 250k-1mm offers.
  5. Pure speculation on my part but if Barrel really is a Mullins (I have no reason to doubt him. Simply don’t 100% know) it would not surprise me if the family asked Barrel to stfu until Braylon announces his decision. My above statement will look way off if Barrel updates us today, which I hope he does,….LOL
  6. In basketball we have won some “tweet wars” by a factor of 10-1 but still lost the recruit. Taking the tweets out of the equation I still think he is simply giving attention to IU because he feels loyalty to a QB coach he has known for years but am guessing he lands at a “name brand football school” and will be shocked if we land him. Hope I’m shocked.
  7. If UCONN is too far from home for Braylon could you let him know, before his 9/14 UNC official visit, that Chapel Hill is roughly 600 miles away from Greenfield ?

How Many IUFB Wins In 2024?

A great question deserves a great answer. Yes, word on the street is that Mike Woodson is going to be coaching the DL.
  9. After saying I wouldn’t get caught up in the recruitment of a 17-18 year old I have now failed to avoid paying attention approximately 121 times (and counting). Will I ever learn? Evidence says no.

    Dallas James(C) to INDIANA

I agree there is no downside to signing James, assuming no one better was available, but a 7 foot senior making a total of 9 buckets in 25 games, against low level competition, is almost kind of funny (also was 1-6 from the FT line). I’m not even sure he will practice all that much against Ballo as long as Hatton is healthy. That being said he will come in handy as a practice player if we encounter injuries. Anyway, he sounds like a good kid and a potential positive contributor to the team GPA.

(2025) - PG Jalen Haralson to Notre Dame

The article states he received an IU offer, which was his first offer, before he ever played a high school game. Investing the time and effort of three years of recruiting and he might go pro anyway…LOL. Sometimes the portal doesn’t look so bad.

    Proposed NCAA Antitrust Settlement

This won’t slow the “free for all” aspect at all…..as in zero slowdown. The schools will dole out a percentage of the revenues, as outlined in the article, to the athletes plus the players will continue to have access to NIL money which now has to be for “legitimate endorsement compensation”. LOL. Who is going to enforce that and/or define what is legitimate endorsement compensation? The toothless NCAA? That’s a laugh. If Cuban says, just to use him as an example, that Gallo’s endorsement of one of his companies is worth 100k of publicity is the NCAA going to dispute that and/or go to court? Regarding a “cap”………. it will take approximately 12 seconds for any cap to be violated by Kansas, UK, UNC, Duke and 90% of the SEC. I wish they would work on 2 year agreements, or something along those lines, as it is ridiculous that the rosters are far more fluid than the NBA.

    (C) Kel 'el Ware - COMMITTED TO INDIANA

Nothing wrong with that…to say the least. In 2 days he turns 27 (hard to believe he is still that young) and he has already made over 31,000,000!!!

    Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Bad look for all involved (Woody, Scott and frick and frack). Optics are poor but this mess won’t mean anything to the “regular”, and/or most, fans if we reach the Elite 8 for the second time in the last 30 years. Am I willing to bet $$$$ that we will make the Elite 8….hell no, but looking forward to see what happens.

    Fire Coach Woodson Thread

I understand some of the Woody complaints but don’t get the “he got 6 million from his millionaire buddies” take as if that’s a negative. A lot of other schools have tons of money sloshing around and those that don’t wish they did. If we didn’t have the cash some of the same posters would complain we don’t have funding because the donors know Woody sucks but when they do in fact pony up it’s somehow a negative.Oh well. Looking forward to seeing how (or if) these guys mesh together.

Four really bad words for Redick: ”LeBron is my boss” Four really good words for Redick: ”Four year guaranteed contract” He is getting paid no matter what.

    2023-24 IUFB Transfer Portal

It will be interesting to see how it play out for Cig/IU in football. On the basketball side, as an example, Dalton Knecht from Northern Colorado? Grand slam for Tennessee. Second team All-Mac Payton Sparks for IU? Meh. Eagerly awaiting the opener.
  18. Stars is one thing but it’s still kind of nice that this kid had offers from another 7-8 power schools. I admittedly still cringe a bit when we land, or have landed in the past, an unheralded guy that only had an offer, as an example, from Eastern KY. In those cases is our staff, or past staffs, really that much more insightful than every other D1 staff (cue up the Micah McFadden example…LOL) in the country? He sounds like a good “get”. Keep the train rolling!

    Yes that was my point.

    IU Basketball News and Notes

Kansas has Hunter, Bidunga and a bunch of guards and wings. Bidunga will get a lot more minutes than we have to offer (albeit not the amount of minutes 5* normally get), I agree that we have a TON to sell but not sure it outweighs “enjoy the bench”. We will see. A serviceable big man would be great to get but I don’t see it.

    IU Basketball News and Notes

I agree it would be helpful but I don’t think we could attract a playable backup with the limited minutes we have to offer. Right now we are at Ballo, MR and then Hatton. Last year we had Sparks, who “on paper” looked like a great spot minute guy (and we were lucky to land an all-Mac player because he loved the idea of playing at IU) but he only played 2 minutes against Illinois when Ware was out injured. I assume Hatton could handle that. It would be great if we could get another 5 that is good enough to fill-in in case of injury, and willing to spend most of the season sitting at the far end of the bench, but I don’t see who that would be.
  22. Sure hope he wants to stay close to home and represent Indiana. Official visits to UCONN, UNC and Kansas are no joke.

Yep., That was a multi-million dollar road trip that Hurley took from Connecticut to California.

    College Bball Thread

From a scoring perspective IU really stands out with 3 returning double digit scores and 3 high major portal players that averaged double digits last year. UCLA is the only other school with as much, “on paper” firepower. PS. looking at the rosters I don’t get the PU love.
