Let’s face it. We’ve played nearly 11 quarters against 3 teams (UM, OSU, ND) with good D’s and our offense has only looked good in one of those quarters.

2024 IUFB Prediction League - Game 13 at Notre Dame (CFP 1st Round) 12/20/24 8pm ESPN/ABC

My head tells me ND controls the lines and we lose but I just can’t pick against IU in the playoff. This will probably cost me my lead in the prediction league but…………..LFG!!! IU - 31 ND - 24 -

Someone else did it for him because as he said in the third person: ”Mike Woodson doesn’t edit Mike Woodson”
-
Big picture I’d bet anything he will be gone after this season. That should make us happy but there will be some outrage on this board as the dismissal/retirement, however it is labeled, will be as gracious as possible including a huge bag, containing millions of dollars, to reward him for his “service”…LOL
-
Good news (in a perverse way) is that this is year 4.
-
Believe it or not this is directly from Woodys wiki page. Someone is punking the public: Woodson embraced "a modern style of play" at Indiana. He implemented "a four-out one-in offensive system that highlights versatile athletes in a free-flowing system" and "made a point to emphasize that he understood the importance of 3-pointers."[24] Woodson also utilizes analytics to help determine player combinations.[24]

Sorry but I have no idea what your first sentence means. Anyway, at the end of the season I think the entire basketball staff, from strength coach to head coach, needs to be blown up and we need a new leader and culture. No holdovers with past attitudes/culture/experiences/expectations. EVERYTHING needs to be changed and tied to new head coach.
-
No one wanted Woody as a head coach but we hired him as our head coach because he played for IU. Makes no sense, at all. No one has hired Fife as a head coach, or as an assistant, or in ANY capacity at any level of college basketball but maybe we should hire him as our interim head coach because….he played at IU?? Makes no sense at all. Look into MSU comments when he left there. I’ll sum it up by saying tears were not rampant. I have nothing against Fife, and loved him as a player, but hiring him to be the interim head coach rather than every other possibility??? No Bueno.
-
Thanks, I did not recall that. Makes sense.
-
He didn’t need to hire people he knew.. If (IF) one put in the work it isn’t that hard to put together a list of on-the-rise assistants, that are good recruiters, and interview them. Most would jump at the chance to have IU on their resume and a big pay bump. And yes, I will save many posters time by saying Woody was probably too lazy to do that.
-
Yep, I’m sure that will be the case and logically I don’t really see the advantage of having an interim coach for a few months. If anything, if that coach has some success, that could muck up the works. We need the coaching staff to be blown up and for a new coach to put his fingerprint on the entire organization. In this era of NIL, etc there is zero reason to think anything/anyone from the past needs to be retained nor do we need to worry about which players might leave. We need a full makeover and the coach should report directly to the AD not some dude on the BOT. Pam W, as president, has done a lot for the football program but how in the hell did she sign off on Woody not reporting to the AD? REALLY DUMB. EDIT: It was pointed out that Pam W was not yet the president when Woody was hired so it was the Australian idiot that allowed Woody to report to the BOT rather than the AD.
-
I realize there is zero chance of this happening but why couldn’t his last day be tomorrow? Why is March 8th the magic date ? Is there a money/contract reason ?
-
I’m not defending Woody or anything that has happened. It’s been a gigantic cluster. That being said….the “buck” should stop with the head coach so the head coach should bring in his own team. Although I understand why the administration wanted to bring in Matta (now head coach at Butler) and Fife ( now coaching nowhere but for some inexplicable reason a few posters want him to be the interim coach because……….he has IU tie’s?? LOL LOL, LOL) but the coaching staff should 100% be the head coaches decision .
-
My comment had nothing to do with Woody specifically but rather all coaches. No head coach should have assistants put in place by others.
-
Hiring a guy without college experience was a bad idea. And subsequently Woody has been a failure. Telling that type of coach (one without college experience), during negotiations/interviews, that it would be a good idea to bring in an experienced assistant is fine BUT then the head coach should pick that guy. Having other people hire/push assistants on a newly hired coach was a bad idea. Just a series of F’ups.

I remember it VERY well. A few years out of grad school a couple IU buddies and I bet money we barely had on IU. We went to a sports bar in Chicago to watch the nationally televised game ( which was a BIG deal back then) against Illinois, ordered our beers and then heard the announcer tell everyone that Knight had benched Alford and all the starters except Blab (he benched 4/5, not all 5). We sh!te our pants, IU scored 12 points in the first half and on Monday we handed our bookie an envelope full of cash….LOL
-
This is a total guess but McNeeley went to Montverde and there might have been a bit of an IU “glow” with JHS being a Montverde grad and a first rounder.
-
So last year Montverde had McNeeley, Cooper Flagg, Queen and Asa Newell (avg 16 ppg at Georgia) on the same team!!!! I hope Coach Steven’s builds a pipeline between IU and Montverde next year.
-
It’s almost hard to believe McNeeley is a freshman. He does so many things well. Hits two clutch FT against the Zags tonight (84% for the year), he shoots from outside, takes it to the rack, passes well, rebounds, etc etc. An all-around player. For the first time ever I’m not mad about a kid spurning IU as he made, without a doubt, the right decision. That being said, I really, really, really hope UCONN doesn’t repeat. Not because of McNeeley dumping us but because I think Hurley is a massive tool.

One Elite 8 in 30 years sums it up. ONE in 30 years. Just unreal. -

We will just agree to disagree. Guys missed layups, put-backs, and MANY of the threes were not rushed (granted, some like Gallo’s long launch were). Goode missed some threes that he was able to line up like he was playing H.O.R.S.E. -

No quality shots??? Come on. We have missed point blank shots and wide, wide open threes. -

Both teams have made 8 threes but NB has made them on 13 attempts and we have had 33. Maybe we should stick to pounding it inside….LOL
