At this point the IU-ND game is an anomaly. The other home stadium games are significantly cheaper (comparable seats at OSU are less than 1/2 the price of ND. and you can get at PSU tickets, along the sideline for $225-250 including fees.) There is zero chance that a price cap can/should/would be enacted on people selling their tickets. Market value “is what it is”.

I realize everyone is aware of the ridiculous Stubhub fees but here is a real life example. IU at ND, section 125, row 4 seats are $1,166 each. Including fees, however, they are $1,576 each. $410 in fees to electronically issue a ticket !!!!

That’s what I’m saying. The conference champ gets-in, even if they jump over a higher ranked team, but once-in everyone is slotted by ranking (ie Arizona State would still have made the playoff, for winning their conference, but there is no way they should be seeded 4th and get a bye. They should be seeded 12th).

Yes, that’s a lot different than a 2 point home win vs Iowa. A seemingly impossible road game win at Wisconsin, however, would be celebrated. It’s crazy how we can’t get a win there. -
I am ok with the conference champions that jumped some teams to make the playoff but at that point all teams should be seeded according to their ranking etc. Expansion to 16 would be fine but I don’t have a strong opinion between 12 or 16. Other than that, the playoff has generated a ton of interest in a number of late season games, that would have had limited appeal in the past, and the ratings for the playoff games will be through the roof.

2024-25 Prediction League - Game 10 vs Minnesota Mon 12/9/24 6:30pm BTN

IU -79 Minny -67 -
Their AD comment about reevaluating their OOC is ridiculous. They didn’t lose a single OOC game so that had no bearing. Their game before the 3-24 atrocity at Oklahoma was friggin Mercer. Is Mercer an example of reevaluating their schedule? What a joke.
-
PSU has to be thrilled with their draw. They play SMU in Happy Valley and would then play Boise State at the Feista Bowl in Phoenix. It would be hard to get an easier (but not easy)route.
-
They will never understand or agree with this but it’s very simple. If Bama would have won their second to last game, against a team they were favored by OVER 20 points, they would be in the playoff. Instead they lost by 24-3 and clearly don’t belong. It’s really that simple. Beat a crappy OU and they would be in but they got smoked. EDIT: I checked Bama’s schedule to see if maybe the bad Oklahoma loss was after a tough game but…..prior to the Oklahoma debacle Bama hosted Mercer…LOL Their last three games were vs mighty Mercer, crappy Oklahoma and against sh!tty Auburn. What a gauntlet.

And OSU/TN has tickets on the 10 yard line for $522 including fees. Similar seats at ND are $2,750 but I’ll bet those will go down quite a bit…maybe

You could be right but let’s see what happens if we win a BT game at home by 2. I doubt it will be a celebration but perhaps it will be if the opponent is someone like PU. -
I think prices will go down but with fees included, on Stubhub, the cheapest tickets along the sidelines, 10 yardline to 10 yardline, are $2,950 each. So two tickets, two flights, rental car, hotel, food-booze would put me out over $9,000 to sit outside at night, in South Bend in late December…….. The game is going to be GREAT on my big screen.
-
Yep, If/when IU beats ND the next game, vs Georgia, will be at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, on New Years Day.
-
I’ll bet TN isn’t thrilled with a night game at OSU. I can’t stand OSU but hate the SEC more. Go OSU!!
-
Mizzou holds on to beat Kansas and Tamar Bates gets 29 points.
-
So cold might not matter to a great extent but hopefully it is dry.
-
IU will forever be the answer to a trivia question…. Name the two opponents in the first ever 12 team CFB Playoff.
-
8:00 PM in South Bend. Could be a very chilly game. Who does that help/hurt ?
-
And he keeps babbling about their strength of schedule but two of their three losses were against crappy teams. Their LOSSES, not just the schedule, need to be emphasis more by the commentators (thankfully the committee didn’t listen to ESPN and decided to keep Bama out).
-
5th and they are hosting Clemson
-
I enjoyed one of the commentators stating that OSU lost to a “very good Michigan” team. Wait a minute……Isn’t that the same “terrible Michigan team” that IU beat ?
-
I’m so sick of the SEC blathering. Man, I hope they all lose their first game. I will be watching all the SEC playoff games primarily to hopefully see them lose.
-
Enjoyed the the emphasis on how bad that Bama near the end of season loss was.
-
The ESPN boxed summaries of each team lists key wins. They should also show the key losses but that would hurt some narratives.
-
Are they going to torture us for 20 minutes before revealing the teams ?
