(2025) QB - Julian Lewis to Colorado (for now)
DChoosier replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
USC is a private school that doesn’t have to publish contracts, so what I read is probably a guesstimate, but Riley’s buyout is allegedly 88 million. I’m guessing there is a near-zero chance he will quit and leave 88 million on the table unless he has a job lined up and agrees to take “only” 40-50 million from USC. Yet another example of a university (USC, A&M, IU etc) getting glittery eyed and agreeing to an absurd buyout. -

Who knows. Maybe he won’t get the playing time he expects next year and we get him for 1/2 price the following year…LOL -
(2025) Edge Tyrone Burrus Jr. to Indiana
DChoosier replied to Lebowski's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Three of the top 7 Indiana high school kids in the ‘25 class are from Warren Central. Sure would be nice to flip a couple of them (currently committed to ND, LSU and Louisville). Maybe Burrus will kick-start things. -
2024 IUFB Prediction League - Game 7 vs Nebraska 10/19/24 Noon FOX

IU - 31 Cornholes - 17 -
I think his aspirations, and who really knows what those are, could possibly be a far bigger issue/factor than IU coming up with the compensation. I’m confident we will come up with the necessary cash but will that satisfy what he wants? Who knows? Let’s beat Nebraska Saturday.

I have read JMU interviews in which Cig mentions his old recliner (although it was only 31 years old then LOL), he mentioned that he and his wife loved Harrisonburg and that JMU was his last stop. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it. Do I think he is being insincere in this current interview? No I don’t but things/perspective can change when new opportunities open up. We cannot know what he might do without knowing his career goal. Maybe he would love to finish his career rebuilding a traditional national power (Florida?) or perhaps he is happy at the current level he has reached (ie he finally landed a P5 job and a very substantial pay raise). Who knows, Cig might not even know but certain programs “sales pitches” might turn his head…or maybe not. All the speculation will be a moot point if we only win 1-2 of our last games but will skyrocket if we win 10-11. In any case I’m just going to enjoy this season.

Trent Sisley is an Outstanding Hoosier and (2025) SG - to UConn Thread
DChoosier replied to Barrel Rick's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
So was UCONN all over him before he became a 5 star? Just a really lazy take. I agree with many Woody issues but we have been all over Mullins for multi-years, have been to his home , games, practices, groveled the requisite number of times and have offered a huge bag. In your opinion what else should we have done???? The kid might just want to go to the program that has won the last two natty’s. If so, OK, but to spin it that the staff was lazy/late just isn’t true. -
UCLA has now lost to MN, IU, LSU and Oregon and their worst loss has been to …..The Hoosiers. UCLA has a really rough schedule. Won’t be surprised if they have a 2 win season.

They just showed Chip Kelly. I must have missed it but when did Kelly turn into Chris Farley ?

Things you're most curious to see this basketball season

Playing time is going to be a big issue which, in a lot of ways, is a positive. Just hope the disappointed players handle it well. -
(2025) - PF Eric Reibe to UConn
DChoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I hope we land Reibe, although it sounds unlikely, but in this climate it really doesn’t matter. Don’t land a HS big…Oh well, go shopping at the “big man store” after the season. Odds are very high that we will land a seasoned portal big man more “ready to go” than Reibe. -

I’m not so sure that Mullins relative worth, being paid 50% more than Ballo, “wins in this case”. Ballo has a D1 body of work while Mullins will obviously be an incoming freshman adjusting to college ball. Only time will tell, but I’m guessing Ballo will provide more relative value, but who knows until we are half way through the season. -
Wow, didn’t see Wiscy pounding Rutgers, in Jersey, to that degree.

BC Before Cig

Portal = coming up with cash makes it sound like High School kids are different but that’s just not the case. The word is the Mullins is roughly a million dollar dude and he, as we all know, is a HS kid. Does anyone think he would have considered UCONN for 50k? No way. Does landing a one and done HS kid “build” a program like the good ol days. No way. Doesn’t matter if a school is trying to land a player from the Portal/HS/Man from Mars etc., in these times you need cash for all of them. EVERY program, not just IU/Woody, is in trouble if the cash runs out.

(2025) - PF Eric Reibe to UConn
DChoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Jim Coyle looked at the last 6 Natty winners and each of them had at least 4 (four) guys that were drafted by the NBA. Many coaches, including Saint Hurley, need elite talent. It kind of sickens me to say this but PU did a good job making the final with just one, maybe two, NBA draftees. -
I’m not really sure what it means, since we beat both teams, but Northwestern is destroying MD at MD 37-10. Back in the day we probably would have lost to MD and at NW.
-
You might be right but, as unfathomable as it is, we have only made it to the Elite 8 ONCE in the last 30 years ONCE. ONE friggen time! Those in power might be satisfied with a Sweet 16.

I was also there. It was raining, a lot. The game was on national TV back when it was a really big deal. We were a popular upset pick among the media. I don’t remember much, students also enjoyed themselves back then..LOL, but do remember that on EVERY play our OL and our DL was absolutely blown off the line by 5+ yards. It was a joke of a mis-match in the trenches. It was a bad game but I’m sure the Bluebird, Peanut Barrel and/or a Walnut Knolls party cured my disappointment. On his Sunday show Corso said he looked at the other side of the field and stated that even their warmups were better than ours (his comedy routine probably bought him an extra year or two). It’s only taken 46 years but we are getting sweet, sweet revenge this year. WTF…time flies.

Prediction League RESULTS Thread
DChoosier replied to Str8Hoosiers's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
The best thing about the bye week, by far, is that it means I am tied for the lead for TWO weeks! Having children, meeting my wife, career, etc., mean little compared to the honor/accomplishment of being tied with Roadrage in the Prediction Pool!!! -
Alabama loses to unranked Vandy but only drops 1 spot in their poll. At least they didn’t go up a spot after losing.LOL
-
At the end of last season, when Allen was still coach, I WOULD NOT HAVE DREAMED that given a choice I would prefer to have IU’s offense over UM’s offense this season.
-
There is a decent chance UM will be a 4 loss team when they arrive in Bloomington. Hopefully we will make it 5.

#23 IUFB @ Northwestern - Saturday, 10.05.24 @ 3:30 ET on BTN

5 IU touchdowns. 2 TD’s from two different RB’s 2 TD’s from two different WR 1 TD from the TE 5 TD’s with 5 different players scoring. It’s a beautiful thing. -
WOW. Tootsies is at least 2 miles from the stadium. The students are putting in some work!
