Indiana @ Nebraska - Post-game thread - 1/2
DChoosier replied to MartintheMopMan's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
A few points: *It is true that our first two conference games were against weak opponents but you cannot discount BT road wins. *it was great that NB did not have the same layup drill that Rutgers had. *PU lost at home. That alone makes this a beautiful day. *Two (of many) things I have gotten wrong... 1) I thought Rojo would step in and make people question why Blackmon was starting over him but he has laid a really big egg at Rutgers and NB. Really has surprised me. 2) After just a few minutes early in the season I did not think OG could possibly be a replacement for Holt. Happy to say I was wrong. He is looking good. -

I was near the floor at the Rutgers game and he was walking with a limp. -
Feeney, Spriggs name to All-American teams

Hope Feeney does not declare like Howard and Darius as we really need a solid line in front of whoever takes over at QB. -
Analysis: IU-Rutgers ... Well, that was interesting
DChoosier replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yes!!!! I was at the game with my wife and have to admit I did not think it was the greatest lineup but they then went on a run and all the sudden we were up 9 or 10 (you use the word scrappy and to me it seemed they really had a strong desire to win) I turned to my wife and said "we are on a good run so Crean will take out a few of these guys" and sure enough he did. Other teams give players on a run a long block of playing time. Other teams do not take a guy out right after hitting a couple three pointers in a row. I think frequent subbing makes him feel he is "coaching" and some type of chess master. -
I think Lagow is the key......by a mile. I say that because with a decent QB the offense can be good next year with a good OL (especially if Feeney returns), experienced receivers and Redding is a good replacement for Howard. Offense has to make it happen much like it was on the offense this year. I agree with you that major improvement of the D would make a huge difference but I have little faith that the D will improve in a MAJOR way. Game 13 we still tackled poorly, bad angles, gave up big plays, left receivers incredibly wide open (luckily the Duke QB was not real accurate), 3rd and long is an adventure, we give up a ton of yards, etc etc. Nothing leads me to believe (I would love to be wrong) that things will all the sudden change on D next year.

Prediction League Game 14 (Week 8) IU vs Rutgers (12/30/15)
DChoosier replied to Naturalhoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I will also be there. The students are on break but it is still virtually a sell out which leads me to belive the place will be 33% IU. We show up in the NYC area. IU 81 Rugrats that should not be in the Big Ten - 69. -
PSA: Upcoming Big Ten Elite featuring the 2002 IUBB Team
DChoosier replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
That team did have some talent ( talent, but not saying close to best talent in tourney) with Mr Basketballs from several states and a couple of burger boys but the toughness of Fife, Moye, Coverdale (and others) does not seem, at this point, to be remotely closely matched by this team. The 2001-2002 team just had guys with the strong will to win. On the current team I think guys like Bracey Wright (oops, I mean Blackmon) are probably good guys but do not seem to have the killer "do whatever it takes to win" attitude. All that being said.....it was great to see them claw back from 16 down against ND. Can they sustain that? -

Crean saw my post. You can thank me Priller. -

Guessing Crean is tired of reaction Priller gets so he is keeping him nailed to the bench. -

Agree, looking forward to conference games, Going to be at Rutgers game and am guessing there will be a lot of candy stripes there, No doubt Rutgers stinks but at least it is a Big Ten road game. -

Hey. Do not sell K State short. They only lost to Belmont by 25 and were able to stay within 12 of Chattanooga. This gives Troy a good taste of how he will do vs NBA competition. -
Max should have politely said "excuse me" and then asked K "how does a 68 year old man not have a single grey hair?"
-
Still hard for me to believe the announcers do not have to discuss the UNC sanctions but that is because......."THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY!! Fake classes, players that get parking tickets while driving multiple different cars (wonder how they got those cars) and a culture of absolute academic fraud for YEARS and nothing happens. The way the NCAA administers "justice" is a complete joke.
-
Crean is complaining a little about the schedule but meanwhile the Duke-IU GAMEDAY thread is 6 pages 24 hours before the game even starts!!! Maybe fans prefer games like this over the "Mississippi Valley State Institute of the over 40 year old Little Sisters of the Poor" games?
-
I will also be there. I have been in Cameron but this will be first game I have seen. My excitement a few weeks ago has turned into "fear" :) They have won 122 non-conference home games in a row, we have no defense and I hate to complain about refs but the reality is if you are not up by 9 with a minute to go you are not winning at Cameron. We need to come out hitting threes or it is going to be a long night.

Yes. Look at stubhub and you will not find anything under 300 and it is 600-900 from baseline to baseline.
-
Yes. PU is looking real good and the way UM rotated the ball against NC State was a thing of beauty. Not sure how we handle PU underneath.

My positive side says.........Great to hear!!! My skeptical side says.....When Crean feels the heat he likes to show he is working 24/7.

IU versus Purdue Post Game Thread
DChoosier replied to HoosierReb01's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Hate to say anything positive about PU fans but I wasted a few minutes reading their board (wanted to experience the beauty of their meltdown) and saw that they were really mad about that classless play. All of them were saying he should have been kicked out. -
Sports Illustrated Big Ten Predictions
DChoosier replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
All three were fun to watch. All three were better than past years. All three count as losses in the standings. Also....keep reading about the OSU Suds and Howard injuries, which I agree were a HUGE bummer and I have said the same thing to friends, but if we go that route what about all the Maryland injuries (including QB) when they played us? Does that make one of our two conference wins count less? Again, do not get me wrong. Very happy we are going bowling, and will try to attend our bowl game, but just saying that in my opinion 1-5 in the division does not make the pre-season sports writers look like idiots. -
You are correct that Crean does not shoot or pass, and he does some things well, however. each year.... Regardless of the players or lineups we seem to be mediocre when it comes to turnovers. Regardless of the players or lineups our perimeter defense is poor. Regardless of the players or lineups our help defense is poor. Regardless of the players or lineups we do not perform well against zones Who here has confidence we will get a good shot when there are 10 or less seconds on the shot clock? Who here has confidence in plays that are called during timeouts? Who here has confidence in the substitution patterns (in fairness a bit better this year) ? It would be one thing, and unfair, if I was referring to one game but the items above define the Crean teams each and every year. At some point Glass has to ask himself if improvement that will get us to the next level will ever be made under Crean.

[quote name="HoosierReb01" post="217226" timestamp="1448832134"]Sorry. We'll just set back and wait for you to give the ok that we've done well enough to earn a few seconds of trash talk to the sportswriters.[/ I am thrilled we are going to a bowl but feel 1-5 in the division is not exactly a strong " trash talk" hand. Just my opinion..... not sure where your "permission" comment comes from. -

We showed them!!! They had 6 teams in our division ahead of us but we went out and beat ONE of them. Going 1-5 in your division is "in your face" IU style.
