(2018) PG Darius Garland to Vandy
DChoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I loathe Scumapari but the scoreboard says that he has taken his freshmen 5 stars to the FF four of the last seven years including a national championship. I do not want to emulate him but he seems to be doing pretty well with his 5 stars. -

Wish he was coming here but I am not going to get all bent out of shape over what a 17 year old high school kid says. -

One and done is not a huge focus of Archie's. He re-recruited all three of Crean's commits and signed 5 2018 players (Race included) none of which are one and dones. He would be nuts not to go after a 5 star Hoosier and a 5 star player that has some ties to the state. -

Maybe Romeo does go there, who knows? On the other hand it seems that a very small percentage of recruits that seem(or say) to want to play together actually end up going to the same school. -

It should not take as long. Lets not forget how bad it was. Creams top scorer was Klye Taber, a walk on, that averaged one point a game the previous year. We do not have much talent but a lot more, and more on the way, than in those days. -

Beautiful shot of the library. Walked by it a million times, and went in a couple, during my years at IU :). -

Love seeing Al play so well. He has seemed to be absolutely thrilled to be a Hoosier from day one. Do not want to jump to conclusions this early but really hope he has a good run here. -

I agree but we are playing HOWARD...one of the lowest ranked of the 360'sh D1 schools. It is hard to use the "empty cupboard" story against them. Duke yes, but Davis, Rojo, Cojo, Green etc are much higher ranked than any player Howard has ever dreamed of. This is not a "we are doomed" post but is a " I thought we would be better post". -

CTA gets his first Big Ten win against a tough opponent (well, at least half of that statement is true). -

Would have been nice if Sudfeld had this years defense when he played. The offense was fun to watch, and had talent as you noted, but his defenses were horrific. Week after week of watching teams convert on 3rd and 19, 3rd and 15, 90 yard drives etc etc. We are not good yet again but it has been refreshing to actually see us force a number of three and outs this year. -

I shudder when I think of our departing 8 starting senior defensive players and how our D will look next year. Mark my words.....2056 is our year!!!! -

Yes, I would especially like to replace the "I have never even heard of the school" games like Houston Baptist with Ball State, Evansville etc. -

I agree. UK used to be the bottom of the barrel for me but now it is... University of No Classes. UNC (University of No Classes) is really a scumbag program. -

College football teams have 80 or so recruits and the rankings of those recruiting classes is a huge factor. It is true that Scales, Covington etc are better than their rankings, and that some 4 and 5 stars do not live up to their billing, but rankings absolutely DO MATTER. Every year some players underperform while others overperform, compared to their rankings, but when you recruit 80--100 players over 4 years your odds of success are much, much better when you land a number of highly recruited players. A few years ago a recruiting service looked at the teams in the final college playoff game and every single final 2 teams in the previous 10 years averaged being one of the the best 10 recruiting classes over those past ten years. Ie..highly recruited classes equaled being in the hunt. We have some good players but no where near the talent level of the teams in our division. -

Archie had to know that accepting the "burden" to develop a powerful team was a prerequisite of taking the job. He knows that everyone is expecting a way overdue 6th banner at some point in his tenure. -
