What finish will make YOU happy with IU Basketball this March?
DChoosier replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I agree. Would really like those match-ups. -
I do not think Crean has more tools but agree Izzo is better. Would say Izzo is better than nearly every coach there is.
-
Not to be picky but in last 5 years MSU was above IU twice in recruiting ratings and IU was above MSU three times (including the Bowel Movement year). The year, the 6th, MSU is above IU.
This is a serious question, and not intending to draw out the "same old JS" crap, but what's his postseason record over his entire career without Wade and Zeller?[/quotte Crean has plenty of faults but I never get the "what would a coaches record be Without their best player" questions. We ran the table in '87. What do think the post season record would have been Without Alford? We ran the table in '81. What do you think our record would have been without Thomas? Izzo is great. How good would MSU be without Valentine (we already know, they were not great ) Etc etc etc

What finish will make YOU happy with IU Basketball this March?

Partially depends on matchups and health of Johnson, Morgan and Hartman. We have done better than I expected this year as I thought MD and maybe PU and/or MSU would finish above us. After 10 games there is no way I thought we would end the regular season winning out the most difficult portion of the season. Nor did I foresee, but was glad to see, the reduction in turnovers, better defense, more "good Troy", Improvement in Morgan and OG. etc etc. During the season many aspects of the team Improved more than I have ever seen with Crean ( he even claps less :) ). That being said.....really want to get out of the weekend and into the sweet 16. That would be "OK" but not satisfying. -
They were wearing "we have three burger boys but suck and are tired of watching Alford's no defense kid dribbling around and just want the year to be over" looks on their faces.
-
You are correct...HS careers are nowhere comparable.
-
Things can change, he seems like a really good kid but my past IU comparison of JB at this point in his career is..... Bracey Wright.

Yogi has evolved a great deal during his senior season. The light has turned on and he now has that quality of being able to "will" the team to win on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. Having "the guy" that can put a team on his shoulders, without doing too much, and driving others to do well is a talent not a lot of players have. Instead of just "playing" the game you now really get a sense that he wants to make sure we do all we can to win. His replacement, whomever that might be, might score as much (I doubt it) but it will still probably not mean as much as what Yogi brings NOW, after 3 1/2 seasons, to the team. It is fun to watch.

Analysis: How many people REALLY expected IU to go into Iowa and come home with the outright B1G title?
DChoosier replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
With RJ hurt, on the road, their senior night a need for a win I thought we had a 1 in 3 chance to win. Glad to be wrong. -
I was at IU prior to the existence of the BTT and have a question. How much do the younger posters care about the BT tourney? Do not get me wrong, I want IU to win every game they play but that being said: *the conference title means a lot more to me because it involves home and road games over many weeks. *I am on edge when we have a chance to win the regular season title but the BTT does not do it for me. * if we lose a chance to win the BT regular season title I am very bummed but if we do not make the BT tourney final my first thought is "at least we will have fresh legs for the tourney" I get the excitement of the BTT if we need wins to get into the tourney but beside that...?
-
I agree. Do not want to see UVA, MSU or Wiscy in the first couple of games.
-
I can't see the bracket. Where is UCLA and their 3 burger boys seeded?
-
I am too lazy to look it up but I would think it would be very rare (maybe never) for a sole winner of the BT to be a 5 seed. Win two more (MD and 1 BT) and we should be a high 3, maybe low 2.

Hey 30(ugh). Wait until you are 40...you will think 30 was very young. Wait until you are 50...you will think you were young at 40 Etc. Etc. :)

We Are The Champions IU vs Iowa Post Game Thread
DChoosier replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
On another post I mentioned multiple improvements without giving details. One of the improvements, and to your point, is his behavior the last few minute of tight games. In the past 2/3 months I have noticed that he does not appear to be "freaking out" when the game gets tight. Seems more in control/confident. Let's face it.....in the past he would call time out during a tight game and look like he was going to stroke out. Good to see the change. Also.... depth and past reasonable concerns about putting a team together????? Aside from Yogi going out we do not see much decline with a lot of the subs. Injuries, fouls trouble etc....not good but this year we can deal with it. Very fun to watch. -

I am not ready to build a Crean statue or offer an extension but you have to call it the way it is and the fact is that there have been MULTIPLE positive changes in the past 2/3 months. Far more than I thought possible (and I am very happy to be wrong). Good road win against a formerly top 4 team that desperately needed a win on their senior night. -

Good topic after winning the BT. Maybe we should discuss how we will suck in the 2021-2022 season. -
Adds a bit of perspective to our collective angst.
If Thon comes, who leaves?[ I doubt we get him but right now we are not over signed and I would be surprised if both TW and TB return. Am guessing that at least one of them leave, especially if we happen to make a run in the tourney and they look good.
-
Isn't it refreshing that, at least at this point, we are not discussing the 2-3 players that need to be run off to make room for the new recruits?
-
Bingo. That is a big component. Hate to drag out the Cuse game but the "Cody" team getting matched up with a team with tall/long guards that played a very tough zone was about the worst matchup we could have encountered. This year I would rather play a UK/UNC team than a grinder like Wiscy.
