I agree and Newkirk has to realize that we do not need him to shoot often as we have four other starters, which is a luxury, that can shoot.

14-4 and win the conference again. In conference we were 6-3 on the road last year and I think we can duplicate that this year.

Good catch. Seemed as though OG played a lot more than 19. I incorrectly thought Crean was nuts playing OG so much (or so I thought) but 19 minutes was a good number.

Even after a few years I still cannot believe we beat out Incarnate Word for Priller.

Makes no sense as MSB is the most efficient player in the NCAA (or NBA ).

Sometimes Crispin does not shut up but overall I like hearing the perspective of a guy that recently played in the Big Ten. He is right-on in regards to his Newkirk comments.

That was often the issue with Noah V. He would stand sideways, not even come close to seałing his guy, and stick his hand up for the ball. No passing angle.

We need him for the hooker U game but in the big picture the BT and NCAA tourney are much more important.

Not that it ever bent me out of shape but I am sure many are glad to see us beat the number 3 team and not storm the court. Winning the BT and beating ranked teams is helping with that. great to see some good D (most of the game) and I really thought they would kill us on the boards. Did not get hurt by seoond chance shots. Not sure if it was our D or if Berry just had a bad game. Would not count on him being so quiet on a neutral court. Please, please please let OG be OK.

One positive this year is that 3rd or 4th and long was not the nightmare we have seen previous years.

I agree. Looks like we are going to lose but this is better for the team than playing MS Valley fng State.

OG hurt or in doghouse?

Yes, I agree. Last year Hawaii in particular was a RPI disaster. That being said, I still think we should not be playing 300+ teams. Not looking for a big overhaul but moving three 300 type teams to 100-150 teams would be good for our RPI, team and fans.

I still think 3 or so of the bottom of the barrel games need to be moved up to "near sure win" games. Liberty, Miss Valley State and SIUE should be upgraded to Indiana State type teams. There is a reason we won the Big Ten and got a 5 seed last year. The team is not motivated by these games and it hurts us with the committee.

What do we get out of games likes this? I understand the money and win/loss angle of scheduling cupcakes but we have too many absolute bottom of the barrel cupcakes. Why not schedule 100-150 ranked or so cupcakes like Indiana State, Valpo or Vermont instead of the dregs of the basketball world we have on tap including Miss Valley State (Sagarin has them at 349 out of 351 teams) and SIUE (#316). My apologies to MS Valley State but there is NO WAY they should step on our floor unless they are on an Assembly Hall tour. I am not saying we need to play 8 top 25 pre conference teams, and am very happy with the KU/UNC/Butler/Prostitute U games at the top end of our pre conference schedule, but Fred needs to upgrade the cupcake lineup a bit.

Again, I made it clear I was not referring to UM at the big house but rather games like the recent home game against PSU.
