IUBB vs. Illinois - Thurs., 1/3 @ 7:00

He does look scared. There were times on offense that it looked to me he was trying to avoid getting open on the perimeter so he did not have to shoot. Has a decent stroke but needs to get his confidence back. -

I can’t imagine an uglier 3-0 start to the Big Ten schedule but at least we are 3-0. It is still early in the conference but it is looking like the Marquette game, which increased my expectations for the season, was an outlier performance. -

The refs are incredibly inconsistent. Muggings are missed (for both teams) and then ticky-tackys are called. -

Anything can happen but prior to the start of the game they mentioned that Rob will also miss the Michigan game. -

Ha. I saw him on the bench and tried to delete my comment. -

Green threw up a wild miss but at least he made up for it with a turnover next time down :( -

As others have said...this is the 7th or 8th game in a row that we have started a game sleep walking. Very puzzling and will kill us if this continues in the upcoming road games. Nice to see us finish strong. -
Consider this. I don’t think Crean and Alford were that much different. Creans last six years... 4 NCAA’s 3 Sweet 16’s 2 conference championships (SA =0 conference championships). Missed NCAA twice (Alford on his way to missing his 2nd in 6 years) I am using Crean’s last 6 years because Alford, with his first UCLA team, inherited 5 McDonalds All Americans and three first round NBA players. Crean had Kyle Tabor (I.e. their initial situations were not remotely close). I’m glad we do not have either coach.

Don’t know. If so, that would settle how accurate they are :) -

Duke has 3 of the first five projected picks, another player at the end of the first round plus a second rounder. 5 picks. Coach K is a miracle worker winning while having his 5th player only being a second rounder. -

Not sure which site typically comes closest to what actually happens but NBADRAFT.NET has him 14th. Since he already has a “name” I think the last two weeks of the season and a tourney run could change (up or down) his potential place. -

I agree. If there was anything to “nitpick” it was that we came out flat for the 6th or so game in a row. Not sure why we get off to slow starts but it will inevitably cost us (especially on the road) at some point. -

Great win. A few of the PROS: JM from three. If he can consistently be a threat from 3 it helps us and the odds of him having a career beyond IU (and, like many of the payers, he seems like a great guy). Rob has stones the size of Texas. The turnover machine improved in the second half. DD. He is providing meaningful minutes and needed size underneath. Good for him as he has really had to battle to get back. I’m am guessing he thought he would be a focal part of the team by now but he has seemingly accepted his role. There are games in which his big frame will be key to winning. Team as a whole does not give up. These grind it out wins are great experience for BT road games and hopefully for March. Nice to watch a defense that we have not seem in some time. CONS: Some might disagree but I do not think the second half means that it is not worrisome that we started out flat for the 5th or so game in a row. Why is that? Half way through the first half we were on pace for 30 turnovers, many of which were unforced. TO’s remain a concern and if not fixed will cost us some games. As mentioned I think DD is providing some decent minutes but our depth is not what we thought it would be until we get some consistency from Smith, McBob, Fitzner, and Green (ie Troy). The last play out of the timeout was a cluster and we ended up with Green dribbling the ball with a couple of seconds left. I was THRILLED Rob made the shot and we won but if Crean would have drawn that up, and the shot was missed, the board would have imploded. Again, glad we won, Rob has big stones, but not exactly a well executed play. Lets keep it going!

Yep. With some crews Baldwin would have fouled out within 6 minutes. It was crazy how he was repeatedly allowed to aggressively create space with his off arm.

The Marquette game was great and raised my expectations. PS...I admire your optimism Sean but shouldn’t you be getting ready for the Baylor game tonight?
-
Yes, and we have a very good chance (I hope) to win. That being said .....it is old seeing us come out flat game after game, having more turnovers than baskets five minutes into games and seeing the other team win most of the effort plays. I don’t get it.
-
Get him going? I have stated in previous games......We do virtually NOTHING to get Romeo open looks or help open driving lanes/angles for him. It is baffling.

True but the TO’s have to stop.
