He also said we weren’t firing Archie like the day before we did.
-
I didn’t really want Matta either but I’d have rather had him than Beilein.
-
Guess you missed the Matta news.
-
The women's team plays today so I doubt they'd want to overshadow that with MBB news about a coach.
-
Who knows, maybe Dolson has been in talks with Woodson because he’s a trusted advisor on the hire, not because he himself would be the hire.
-
Yeah but he’s kinda old.

Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)

Wait... what? I thought this was over. -
I hope you’re right.
-
I think he’d have been a good candidate...15 years ago. I’m with you on Beard or Oats or someone else younger (not Fife!). My preference is getting someone that can be here for the long haul.
-
You’re not wrong, but who would we hire next year once Archie did get fired? Say BS just wants to remain in the NBA somewhere regardless. It’s the same situation it seems, just a year later, only some donor saved 7.5 million.
-
Archie vs Mike Woodson? That’s like having to choose between a prostate exam or a root canal.

C’mon Texas get your crap together and don’t blow this game! -
We went from Brad Stevens to Mike Woodson? WTF? He might have been a solid candidate when Crean was hired but now??

Yeah you’re absolutely right. I don’t know either. None of us know what drives these guys. Like you said, time will tell. I hope he’s up for it if we’re going after him because I think he’d be great. -

I’m really hoping he’s ready to make a move. He’s an outstanding coach and it just seems like the perfect fit. I would think beyond the financials IU would offer him easier/better recruiting. -
Watch your mouth sir ;-)! No to John!

Honestly as confident as Dolson seems to be I almost wonder if this didn’t already happen extensively and that’s the next step. -
Candidate Thread: Nate Oats (Alabama)

I agree it’s unlikely, but I have know idea what they’re willing to pay. If you pay 10 million to get rid of the coach you don’t want, maybe you’re willing to pay 12 million (I don’t think it’s 14) for the coach you do. Plus, say they pay him 4 million a year salary, that’s at least 3 million less annually than what they were going to pay BS (assuming that’s somewhat accurate). Over a 7 year contract that’s 21 million less, so that’s enough to cover the 12 million buyout. -

The thing that makes me think Oats could potentially still be in play is the second donor to cover “transition” costs. What does that even mean? Buyout? -

I concur sir. Unfortunately, I am worried we won’t be able to get either. -

I was hoping they may get to catch up in person since he’s in Bloomington. -

100% agree. Guess I should have been more specific. Winning is rolled into my “fun to watch” criteria. I’d like Beard just as much. -
I’m not a “hire Indiana” fan, but if they went that route I think he’d be my pick.

Who was on his staff at Michigan? They obviously didn’t hire from his staff since they got Howard.
