You wanna' go back and look at some of the players who have been through Tennessee's program and tell me again how one record setting year doesn't matter? I really would love to hear - seriously - how it's DeBord's fault when Ramsey makes the check with me and RPO calls at the line of scrimmage; and when he can't call plays that stretch the field. Seriously. Hit me.

Actually, Crean didn't. Which is where you and I differ. His past accomplishments DO matter. Like everyone's resume matters. You're blaming him, but that's easy because you don't want to break from your narrative. DeBord is very limited in the plays he can call with Ramsey. That's just a fact, man. Get him a real QB, and then we can have the discussion; but until he has tools to do his job; he can't be judged....unless it's unfairly. Yeah, he had better tools at Tennessee; but you cannot watch Ramsey and objectively tell me you think we should call different plays, especially down the field. You were lauding his completion % and efficiency for 3 weeks...DeBord called those plays. But now, just as I've told you, when defenses are able to take away what we like to do? Ramsey's not very good. You saw the game yesterday same as I did. That's not on DeBord.

https://www.seccountry.com/tennessee/debord-leaving Pretty simple Google search unless you don't want to find it. Do people think he forgot how to coach? Or perhaps there's a reason he calls the plays he does? Call me crazy. Same few guys every week can't seem to see what's kinda obvious.

He is inaccurate beyond 10 yards. He overthrew receivers. Yep. He did. Open ones. He can throw it 35 yards or so, but he can't do so accurately. Any objective viewer can easily see his limitations. You watched the game, right? I think it's funny that throwing an accurate ball 15 yards down field is an idea of his ability to throw the ball down the field. DeBord is doing what he has to do with Ramsey. When have we seen him get the ball down field with any accuracy? Seriously...when? And 15 yards barely counts. I know of maybe 2 throws this season. In 4 games. He had a QBR of 28.5 yesterday. Well below average. Yesterday, we showed again a limited playbook specifically because Ramsey can't stretch the defense. Everything was in front, and they were not going to allow us to run between the tackles. They took everything away in the running game, and forced lateral plays relying on our speed. Until they dropped into a softer zone late which allowed Philyor's long TD, Ramsey was averaging less than 5.2 yards per attempt and finished 5.9. That's HORRIBLE. (Lewerke averaged 8.5) People have to be objective about him and understand teams like MSU can just take away the run game and they can say "same old IU" all they want to; but the biggest reason we struggled yesterday was our offense simply had no ability to get chunk plays without YAC. That made it a grind it out kind of game when we couldn't make mistakes. Well...we made mistakes and took away any chance we had to let our defense win it. Anyone blaming DeBord or play calling is simply taking the easy road. Blaming the coaches always is. DeBord set offensive records at Tennessee. You think he forgot how to call plays??? Seriously? Or just maybe, that ability is limited right now. Yeah, 2017, he made one good throw to Philyor against a soft zone when Philyor was wide open. Talk to me about the throws he consistently misses.

?? I don't understand that question. I didn't offer any solution because the only real solution isn't on this team right now. Ramsey is as good as we have, but he's limited. Why is that such a crime to discuss? There is no solution to defenses making adjustments if we stay w Ramsey. That was proven a year ago. I said he's limited and he is. That's reality. If we stay with him; there is a definite ceiling to our team. That ceiling probably means 7-8 wins because the team is better around him. And it's just fine with me because I don't think Indiana needs to shoot consistently higher than that. Ramsey is limited. Andrew Luck makes consistently dumb decisions to throw the ball into traffic. Can we discuss that without a hissy fit by some? Ramsey struggles throwing the ball down the field and doesn't hit tight windows. Anyone who watches and says otherwise is being intellectually dishonest. That's just conversation about 2 quarterbacks, but for some reason and to some guys here, it's taboo to talk about Ramsey's relatively weak arm. He has a weak arm for a Big Ten QB. Fact. His YPA average is very low. Fact.

It doesn't matter until defenses (who are athletic enough to do so) press us and take the short stuff away, along with limiting the run game. It hasn't yet mattered this season....and like I said, it may not. But some of these people who have asked why we can't be on the same level as Penn State, Michigan, Ohio State, etc.... Don't seem to comprehend that this offense, against those teams won't work unless they play a cover 2. If they press-man cover; we'll struggle until we can open up the field a bit. "We're winning" seems to be the argument of the day, which is supposed to be a trump card. They don't seem to understand the bigger picture. Maybe he'll prove me wrong, but until he does, all I have is what I've seen.

Show me one time where I said he sucks. (If anyone has actually read this thread, your credibility is zero, but whatever) I'll wait. And I'll also wait for any evidence to the contrary that I've said he can't throw the ball down the field consistently or very well. Come on, fan boy. Let's see what you've got. Now, you have to create what I have said. Well done!

And I really don't think you know what you're talking about. You've never been objective and either can't comprehend what you see or you're too biased to acknowledge. So we're even. I have now watched Saturday's game twice. 90% of his throws are horizontal, check downs, or dump offs. He underthrows down the field consistently. Like I said...he is a great game manager and so far has not made big mistakes. This is not about wins or losses....it's simply about the skill set of a player. But...we're 3-0, so that conversation is taboo for you. You're a fan boy, and I get that, but at the very least...be objective.

It's a misleading statistic; and I know this comment in particular wasn't aimed at me; but his arm strength limits the playbook; so his numbers are a little inflated because of short throws and check downs. Ramsey is doing a great job just running the offense. We may never need him to make tough throws or get it down the field. I hope we don't.

IU vs Ball State 9/15 12 pm BTN

I didn't say that and it's hardly the only example,. so go ahead and "lol." You're not being objective.. And why does it matter if you were there? You've said that twice...thank you for getting wet. Well done. Buck Suhr has mentioned several times this year how effective but limited Ramsey is. He's a good game manager and he doesn't make big mistakes. He'll generally win games he is supposed to win; but he's limited. He does not have a strong arm; and that limits the playbook. His arm strength is widely recognized as his weakness....why is that such an offense to you guys? He earned the starting spot and he's done well. But his yards per attempt are very low and the playbook is a conservative one. He doesn't hit tight windows and he doesn't do well throwing the ball down the field consistently. That's just truth. How much that will matter remains to be seen because the whole damned team is playing well right now. He is a part of that to be sure, but I'd rather give credit to the team as a whole and not single out the QB.

You don't need to against zone teams like Ball State or when teams give you the underneath stuff. We saw a year ago when teams played press or man, and took away the underneath stuff, Ramsey was not very good. Against Michigan State last year for example. Threw for about 150 yards, less than 5 yards per attempt, and Indiana scored 9 points in a game they should have won pretty easily. Same thing against Michigan. Completion % under 50%, less than 5 yards per attempt, Indiana struggles to score. He was wretched against Penn State. There is a stat called "Adjusted yards per attempt;" and he was 3.1 that day. PASSING. The guy is limited. He just is. The same cast of characters can fight it all they want; but that doesn't change the truth. As bad as Lagow was a year ago, he still averaged a half yard more per attempt than Ramsey did.

Again, there is a reason it hasn't been. He's not accurate down the field. He's just not.

Think that's an excuse. "He only?" No. He struggles throwing the ball down the field regardless of conditions. If a pass needs a parabola, he struggles. Why do you think his career YPA number is so low and his completion percentage high? Because he's limited and struggles to throw the ball down the field. His receivers made him look good several times even today; and he throws a lot of horizontal passes. Look, he's a good game manager. He's limited. You, Hoosiers2017, and Josh all need to realize that. There is a reason the playbook is limited. You blame DeBord....but there's a reason it hasn't been opened up.

Ramsey is a fine game manager. He does well with short, low risk throws and isn't prone to big mistakes. He is limited though; and when teams take away his ability to run, as we saw a year ago, Indiana really struggles. He does not do well throwing the ball down the field. (even when he had completions down the field last week, he under threw receivers who had to make plays to complete throws) For his career, he averages between 5.7 and 6.0 yards per attempt, pretty consistently. That is a low number. A very conservative number. He's doing just fine from a game management standpoint, however I think it's pretty obvious he has a ceiling; and rather than heap praise on one guy who's kinda vanilla; I'd rather heap praise on the entire team -players and coaches - who are ALL doing a hell of a job; Ramsey among them.

  21. Stevie Scott is patient and a terrific running back. His durability as a freshman is all that will hamper him. He's got vision as good as anybody I've seen at IU since Anthony Thompson.
  22. Your eyes work? His completion % might be the most misleading stat in sports.
  23. I think we can be better than that, but I was referring to some who said it was a loser's mentality to believe we will never be on par with Ohio State, etc.
  24. She's bad. She's been bad. I didn't care for the whole broadcast teem, but she was bad.
