(2019) PF Isaiah Stewart to Washington
BtownStrength replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Yes I don't think it will happen either (<50%). I could see him making a huge jump but still not enough to get to NBA levels, although with his athleticism he certainly has a shot. I was just coming up with a hypothetical scenario in which we had 5 open scholarships after this season, and Smith is my best guess outside of Romeo for a chance at the pros in 2019. It is possible that 2 transfers would be the more likely outcome. -

2 seniors graduate. Romeo to NBA. Unexpected NBA entry (Smith?) 1 transfer. Seems unlikely that all those dominoes will fall, but stranger things have happened. I expect 4 open slots for freshmen next year so 5 isn't a total stretch! -

Admittedly I don't know much background about this recruitment, but it seems like this one is harder to read. Has anyone heard any information on Stewart that could show potential favorite(s) or leader(s)? And while I assume we would take Stewart and TJD, would this be a situation like Franklin/ Newman where we could only get 1 because of competition of minutes at the same spot? -
App is crashing for me too.

Archie Miller's staff at Indiana will be Bruiser Flint, Tom Ostrom (Dayton) and Ed Schilling (UCLA),

I was not aware of the uproar over yoga. I don't get that one It seems to be very beneficial to flexibility and mobility, and it had added benefit to teaching athletes to breath properly(severely underrated athletic skill). As far as sand pit goes, my opinion is that it offers greater risk than similar exercises with little benefit. Running/exercising in sand involves different mechanics than running on a hard surface(basketball court). Improving speed through sand training seems inefficient because the combination of a longer foot-to-ground contact time and the shifting sand underneath the feet limit maximal force output, which minimizes speed gains. Sand also increases risk of injury due to its unstable nature. This is what makes the exercises more challenging, but it also makes it riskier especially for those players with previous injuries to the lower body. Just my opinion, and I will acknowledge there are exceptions, but I don't see the benefit of sand workouts over similar hard surface workouts in the majority of cases (for sport specific training). -
Really doubt he will be. Just a guess, but methinks Russ jumps ship (LA maybe?) Sent from my LGLS675 using BtownBanners mobile app

Yep. But let's hope the similarity between Marshall and Anderson end with that one common point. Sent from my LGLS675 using BtownBanners mobile app -

It is fair to question. It does appear he has more more work with football players than other sports. But does that make him a "football guy"? I don't really know that answer. I like the guy's experience. And with CAM's other staff hires being as good as promised, his judgment seems very solid. I stand by the opinion that any quality S&C coach knows enough in terms of biomechanics and sport science to train different sports, regardless of background. S&C coaches have to adapt to the individual needs of every player on the team, which IMO is much harder than learning to coach a new sport for strength. I am not worried about Marshall's competence. My only worry is if a pro sports opportunity comes along...but if that happens it will be because he is kicking @$$ here! -

This. No coach would turn down working with NFL players in order to specialize. Most good S&C coaches are equipped with the knowledge to train athletes across several sports. One could seek out a certain specialty (with an open mind) or just fall into one due to a great job opportunity, but his resume looks balanced. Really excited about this hire. -
Starting a new job at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany.

(2015) SF Ogugua Anunoby to IU

While I understand and agree with your point, you probably meant Jeff Howard, not Tim. We need Hanner to be a Tim Howard near the rim! -

Could our push for OG means we are not confident Shake will be here? I hope not because I like what Shake could bring as a big pg, but it is definitely a possibility. -
I reserve the right to change my opinion once I purchase FIFA 15.

Agree with this. Game vs sport, and video game is definitely in the "game" category. Games can be demanding though, thinking of those who play high level chess specifically.

Favorite Part of IU BBall Gameday Experience
BtownStrength replied to rebelhoosier848891's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Climbing up all those steps could be a thrll! When I was a freshman during the 2007-2008 season, my friend, with whom I had season tickets, and I were seated in the last row of the balcony for the UConn game. We were there about an hour before tip off, and a man came up to us and asked if we wanted better seats. He took us down to the 2nd row across from the IU bench! I hope that one day I can do the same for a student in the nosebleeds. Those steps are killer! -
(2015) C Caleb Swanigan to MSU
BtownStrength replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
You are correct, he would absolutely fit our big man need. It is a shame that talented in-state big men have come with baggage. Lyles and now Swanigan will go elsewhere because our coach refuses to play ball. I am thankful for that, but it's still unfortunate. -
(2015) PF Juwan Morgan to IU

Welcome to Hoosier Nation, Juwan! You will surely enjoy your time in btown as a member of the IU family. Really excited about this kid. He seems like a good fit for our system, a 4 year player who can grow into a leader.
