Given our own depressing coaching reality, it’s hard to feel too much joy over another school’s struggles to find a coach, but it is nice seeing the same thing happen to UK. Though it does make our inevitable coaching search seem like an uphill climb if even UK is struggling to land someone. Should’ve just went with Dusty.

Coach Cog really is as polar opposite from the last staff as you could be. Exactly what the program needed. Idk if it’ll work out because it’s still IUFB at the end of the day, but if it doesn’t work it won’t be from lack of effort.

Plus someone would only get that angry if they’re personally invested in IU’s outcomes, imo. I don’t think he’s actually on the staff but I do think there’s a strong possibility he’s attached to the staff.

I’m not a big fan and frankly wish he wouldn’t have returned so we’d have another scholarship to use. Though Woody probably would’ve just left it open.

This is the contract provision people are referencing. The language is pretty broad, and you’d need to look at the rest of the contract to see what the consequences would be.

Leal played 18 minutes against Purdue. We lost by 20. I don’t think 2 more minutes would have made the difference. 3 players scored 58 of our 65 points against MSU. Leal scored 0 of the 65 and you want to attribute the win to Leal. Leal was a backup on a mediocre IU team that missed the tournament last season. If we want to be better than that next season we’ll need better guards. Like we had during the best season of Woodson’s tenure when Leal played 24 minutes all season. Playing Leal more isn’t the answer. He's there for locker room chemistry, leadership, and continuity.

IU was 8-7 in games in which Leal played double digit minutes. Only 2 of the 8 wins were against tournament teams: MSU and Wisconsin. Leal scored 3 points in those two games. IU won because Ware went off. 27/11 in one, 28/12 in the other. If Anthony Leal plays significant minutes for IU next year then Mike Woodson whiffed in the portal on guards.

I don’t care about context in the Fire Mike Woodson thread. I’m here to complain about Mike Woodson until we fire Mike Woodson.

You told the poster who posted it to grow up lol. Your very first post on the subject. That’s “simply inquiring”?

I mean, you started this all by whining about a poster posting “L.O.L.” with a tweet of Woodson golfing. If we can’t have a laugh about that when we’re stuck with a crappy coach while Purdue is playing for a NC, what can we laugh at?

Do you fail to see how it’s all connected? I don’t care who he recruits because I’m tired of winning the offseason every offseason to turn around and be mediocre at best when the season gets here. I don’t care to puff my chest in April about a “top 5 portal class.” That’s meaningless. What matters is what that class does when the season gets here. And what that class can accomplish is hindered by the coach in charge. Best case scenario is Woodson buys enough talented mercenaries that even he can’t screw things up. But that’s unlikely. Most likely outcome is he puts together another mediocre season, sneaks into the tournament, loses the first week, and then gets extended because it’s Indiana and 3 out of 4 tournaments is a big accomplishment now.

Because a large percentage of posters want him fired and this thread helps prevent those posts from spilling into other threads. Why does it bother you so much? I don’t go into threads I don’t want to read to pick fights with people for posting in those threads.

Seems unlikely. But I’m not interested in winning the offseason. Even a top 5 portal class would have to be coached by Mike Woodson, and we’ve seen what that looks like.

The only difference between this week and Mike Woodson’s other 51 weeks is the other coaches are taking this one off too.

Maybe not for you. What will be the excuse when he does this all summer instead of recruiting? Sorry, but when you behave the way Mike Woodson behaves you really don’t deserve any benefit of the doubt from the fanbase.
