Lol yeah I know. It would just be the only conceivable reason I can think of to keep Crean around another year. Otherwise we're wasting our time.

I really expected us to come out hot and have the sort of bounce back game that is common under Crean. I don't have high expectations for us in the first place, but this is truly pathetic. -

It seems like every time one of our guys hits the deck he comes up hurt. -
I guess I just see waiting another year as pointless based on what our team will likely look like next year. It will probably be even uglier than this year, and IU wouldn't be a more appealing job next year than it would be after this year. Crean's recruiting is bottoming out and I don't have any faith that he can turn it around. I feel like if next year is going to be a wasted year no matter what, we might as well do it under a new coach. The exception would be if a Stevens or Self type told us he doesn't want the job after this year, but he'll take it after next year.

Ugh, that's disappointing. It goes along with my theory about a lot of students nowadays though. IU hasn't been elite for a while, so if you didn't grow up a fan or around people who are fans you don't know that things are supposed to be better than this. I can see why they would be happy with the past few years. Have your daughter get all her friends on the fire Tom Crean bandwagon haha.
-
I hope so. If things get much worse with the program and he keeps Crean I think the boosters will turn on him. They won't care about what he's done for the other sports. Glass always talks about how important basketball is, so surely he knows the past 9 years aren't cutting it.
-
Are you talking an arena like Bankers Life? I love the history that Assembly has, but there are some terrible seats in it. There's not a bad seat inside Bankers Life.
-
If he extends Crean I'm fully on board with operation #FireFredGlass. Until then I'll hold off. He's done well with the other sports, but basketball is what matters here so he can't screw that up.
-
I won't really feel too bad for them if it's empty. They haven't put a product on the floor that people want to watch. Some of that blame goes to Crean, but he's not the sole reason people aren't showing up.
-
I don't know anything about his coaching abilities, but after watching the video Stuhoo posted it would be nice to have a coach with Martin's demeanor after 9 years of Crean.
-
He always seems to shoot well from outside but I still don't like him being out there. Only 3 rebounds tonight, we need him in the paint.

Idk if anyone mentioned it already but I think Crean set a PR on the blow by handshake after the game. -

Lol they couldn't decide who to call it on so they just called it on both. -

I really don't think Crean has it in him. -

Honestly I want to move past Stevens as a possibility and focus on other guys. It would be great to get him, but I don't see it ever happening. He's in a nice position with Boston. In 2-3 years they'll probably be the favorites in the East. Coming to IU would be a pretty big downgrade from his current job. If he really does miss the college game Duke would take him, imo. I would love for him to come here because he's a once in a generation type coach, but I don't think we can wait in limbo hoping he picks us. We need to make a move soon so we can get the program back on the right track.
-
They tried getting Hanner deported because he didn't pick them, or at least that was the rumor. The disaster with their football program is probably why Fleek included them though.

Does Purdue ever play Swanigan and Haas at the same time? -

If he wants to show everyone that he's worth a 1st round draft pick this is his chance to do it. I hope he decides to actually be a post player instead of floating around the 3 point line, and that we make it a point to feed the post. -

After watching TB get worked by some very average big men this season I'm worried to see him against Swanigan. -
I sure hope not this time. Maybe if Melo was 5 years younger, but now, no thanks.
-
Hopefully this game puts an end to the "Kevin Love for Carmelo" trade rumors. 39 and 12 on 11-17 shooting, 6-10 from three.

Sports aren't allowed to make sense anymore.

Our team was dead in the water before any of the injuries though. I think there's a good chance it'll have merit with Glass, but I don't think it should. Next year is going to be worse than this year. We're likely losing our top 3 players and we have no one to replace them. Some of the recruits look like they could be good 4 year players for us, but they won't be ready for major contributions by next year. 2018 recruiting doesn't look very prosperous. Glass is smart enough to look ahead and see that the future is dim. If he doesn't make a move after this year I'll lose a lot of confidence in him as an AD. If next year is going to be another down year there's no benefit to keeping Crean around for it and then firing him afterwards. Bring a new guy in and start the rebuild a year early.

I think that's fair. Brady has the better resume but Manning probably had more skill. I didn't like the Colts growing up (mainly because everyone at school loved them and I liked rooting against them) but there's no denying his greatness. I was just trying to argue that Brady's success isn't only the result of being a 'system quarterback'.
