Maybe Crean is hoping it'll give Cujo a confidence boost? Based on their performances I see no reason to make that switch. -

I'll still probably watch the entire game anyway, but if it's a game I actually want to keep watching at halftime I'll be impressed. -
My grandpa said basically the exact same thing when I was watching our game against Wisconsin during Christmas break with him.

That too, but I think the OG thing is the big concern for him. I think he wants to go somewhere he can play early and often and that'll be a lot harder if he has a junior OG to compete against for minutes. -
Against Wiscy I think Blackmon playing is the difference between a respectable loss and a total beatdown. He's a guy you can't leave open within 25 feet and without him on the court they can focus on shutting down Rojo. His defense isn't good, but frankly no one on a team is very good at that. He at least can more than make up for it on the offensive side.

I think his behavior over the past couple months makes it seem like he's not as sure. I think the UNC game in Assembly left a lasting impression on him but everything that has went on during our season since then and the direction our program is heading is making him think twice. There's a lot of uncertainty surrounding us that I'm not sure he wants to deal with. -
He missed the next game against Mississippi Valley State and then played against UNC.

Hasn't he been "day-to-day" for like a week now?

Cujo needs to gain about 30 pounds. He's got the Kevin Durant body going on right now without the skill. -
It ends July 1, 2020.

I'd really like to know what Crean has them doing at practice for 4 hours. Obviously nothing to do with defense, inbounding or feeding the post.. The way they play makes me think he just has them standing around doing 3pt drills the entire time.
-
I think Crean has a, unique, personality that rubs some people the wrong way. That could be part of the reason for why he's disliked by some people who know him.
-
The "he's a great man" storyline seems like another excuse for his subpar coaching to me. "So what if he's not a very good coach, he's a great man and a great person to represent our program so we should keep him." I dont know the man personally so I can't judge his character, but there are enough stories out there to make me wonder how true the "he's a great person" angle really is.

I think Cuban would be singing a different tune, at least privately, about Crean if he followed the team like we do. He knows enough about basketball that he would pick up on Crean's shortcomings if he watched enough games. Like you said, that's just not going to happen for a guy like Cuban. He has his own basketball team to worry about as well as his other business ventures. I remember Crean getting a fair amount of boos during the season you're talking about. If Crean didn't end up getting Bryant and Max after that year he might've been cut loose.
-
Cuban probably would've fired him after he watched how shell shocked we looked against Cuse's zone. There's 0 chance Crean would still be the coach if he was in charge.
-
Getting past the sweet 16 at least once in 8 years would be a good place to start. You're ultimately judged by your postseason success at a school like Indiana.
-
You can't really use someone's comments from over a year ago to prove how they feel now. A lot has changed in the program since then. $5 million isn't very much when you're worth over $3 billion, plus donors don't usually donate money just out of the goodness of their hearts. They get something out of it too.
-
Blind loyalty isn't always the best thing though... Why wouldn't you want a coach fired if he isn't producing results on the court?
-
Take Thomas off the team last night and that's likely the team we see next season, all season. Scary thought. Of course add in the new recruits coming in, but I don't see any of them being ready to contribute major minutes by next year, or even what the freshmen this year are giving us. With Crean as our coach we know we'll see the same stupid mistakes we see all the time now, and we won't have the talent to overcome them.
-
Yeah the middle of the pack in the NBA is the worst place you could be. Sneaking into the playoffs and getting swept in the first round doesn't help your franchise out at all. Cuban might be looking at that this year. I mean, what's IU's best case scenario this year? Getting into the tournament and losing the first weekend? That's nothing to be happy about and with our injuries it would probably be enough to keep Crean around. Then OG, JBJ, and TB will all probably leave and Crean will have his excuse for another rebuilding year. And around and around we go on the Crean roller coaster. I can't root for wins or be happy about them knowing that each one puts us closer to that nightmare scenario.
-
Some would say that makes you a bad fan, but I don't see it as being any different than fans hoping their teams tank so they get a high draft pick. This season is already a lost cause, might as well get something good out of it.
-
I mean, what else is Cuban going to say? He can't come out and blast Crean. I don't think these public statements by people really tell us how they actually feel about the guy.

3 OT's to beat Penn State at home. It's Indiana, it's Indiana.
