IUFB @ Michigan State - Saturday, 11.02.24 3:30pm Peacock

Talking about how we haven’t beat a ranked team and whether we should be ranked above Penn State as if they’ve beaten any marquee teams this year. I hope we score again here. Hang 50 on another conference team. -

Saturdays are sacred at football schools such as IU. We can hate on our crappy basketball coach the other 6 days, but Coach Cig deserves our full attention today. -
I HATE Big Noon kickoff. This OSU/PSU game should be a 7:30 white out under the lights, not 12:00pm.

Jalen Hood-Schifino - Philadelphia 76ers

Since JHS was a first round pick, his salary was set by the rookie scale. His contract was 4 years/$17,882,808, with the first two years guaranteed and team options for the last two years. The Lakers used the second-round pick exception on Bronny, which lets teams sign second rounders to multi-year deals without counting against the cap until July 31 of their rookie season. His contract is 4 years/$7.7 million, with the first two years guaranteed, the third year partially guaranteed, and a team option the fourth year. Bronny is more of a 2 guard (even though he’s the size of a 1), so I don’t think he’d be competing with JHS for playing time. I don’t think anyone, including LeBron, thinks Bronny is capable of playing NBA rotation minutes at this point, and he won’t. He’ll be down in the G League this season. The 55th pick in the draft is a small price to pay to keep your franchise player happy. We’ve seen something similar with the Bucks having Giannis’s brother on the team for the past 5 seasons. Who knows if Bronny develops into an NBA player one day. Time will tell. If he doesn’t, that won’t be much different than most of the other 55th picks in NBA history. -

Sure, but I really don't see what Bronny’s contract has to do with JHS… -

Do you not realize that (a) the G League season hasn’t even started yet and (b) the Lakers have already said that Bronny will be spending the season in the G League? -

The Lakers are a great spot for guards to develop (Caruso, Reaves, Knecht is already getting rotation minutes). JHS just isn’t very good. He isn’t a good shooter and has bad athleticism. He was drafted on potential/physical measurements but that only gets you so far. -
(2025) QB - Julian Lewis to Colorado (for now)

If a donor donates money only for a certain player then sure. But while there’s no salary cap, there also isn’t a limitless pool of money. It’s more likely, imo, that donors give a certain amount toward NIL than it is donors give an amount for a certain player. The staff then has to decide how to allocate those funds. -

The hype from signing the #2 player in the country may be worth $2.5 million, but I can’t blame the staff for being hesitant o fork that kind of cash over to a 17 year old reclass. -

That’s right. As a day 0 hater of the Mike Woodson hire, I’ll be driving the bus until the end. Consider me the #truefan version of a hater. -

Correct. If we can manage to hire an elite football coach given IUFB’s history of misery as one of the worst programs in college, then there’s no reason we can’t do the same for IU basketball, one of the best programs in college. -

Big time college football basically prints money. Pay Cig whatever he wants and don’t let him leave until retirement. -

Agreed. Absolutely nothing we’ve heard about/seen from Mike Woodson suggests he’ll go away graciously. -

You don’t have to be a first round pick to be a stud college player. We see that all the time in college basketball. He’s at the top or near the top of every passing category in the conference this year. A “steady” and “consistent” player is a game manager type to me. Rourke is the type who can go out and win games for you, not just go out and not lose them. -

Uhh, ok. He’s been consistently great for us this season. He’s completing 75% of his passes with 15 tds to 3 ints, and has the best rating in the Big 10. Not entirely sure what ‘stud’ territory would be for you. -

Rourke is one of the best quarterback in the Big 10 this season… Maybe the best this far. -

Technically his 3rd year (and 6th for Rourke), but I hope I’m wrong! He has the physical attributes and it certainly will be better if we can rely on a guy who knows the system. -

Sorry but we need a stud if we want the same results next year. He’s not bad by any means but he’s not elite either. Maybe part of it is the staff not trusting him because he seems to have a strong arm. -

Sometimes losing is better for the program. Losing last football season was by far the best outcome for the football program. If Allen had won another game or two, we don’t hire Coach Cig, and we wouldn’t be 7-0 hosting college game day tomorrow. The worst thing for IU basketball is for Mike Woodson to still be the head coach this time next year. Whatever results we have to have this season to make sure that doesn’t happen, I do not care.
