Nahh. He's no angel and has done innappropriate things but that particular one was mischaracterized.
-
Knight doesn't think rape should be enjoyed. He misspoke and clarified what he meant. Have you never misspoke about anything? Players want him to come back, but I think they understand why he doesn't want to.
-
I'm not sure how he's hurting his former players or being mean and petty. The university told him to get out after he made their basketball program what it is today, so that's exactly what he did. Sure it would be nice if he would come back to AH but he doesn't owe it to anyone to do so. Like Dalton said, Knight says the things that everyone else think but keep to themselves. Is he really that terrible for not being afraid to say them? If I was the best in my field and I was responsible for the best years in my company's history and they fired me after almost 30 years then heck yeah I'd hold a grudge and want nothing good to happen to the people who fired me. Knight's feelings aren't that uncommon imo but most people would never let you know that they feel that way.

Because he bought a homeless a meal and preached to him about God and he sometimes calls and checks up on people's sick relatives. Maybe he's the world's greatest guy but the impression I have of him isn't a very good one based off the things I've heard and the things he's done.

Tom Crean Press Tour 2017
Hoosierfan2017 replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Calipari's players leave every year, I wonder when he's going to hire a PR firm and start his rebuilding campaign. I honestly wanted to be happy with what Crean did here and wish him the best, but he's coming off as really whiny in all of these interviews imo. -
Yup. It's crazy. Like sure, looking back those probably shouldn't have been ranked as top ten classes, but he recruited all of the players in them. If they flopped then he deserves some of the blame for recruiting the wrong guys. Every other coach understands that players graduate and move on so they better have guys ready to come in and fill their spots. Crean wanted to break it all down and go into rebuild mode for a couple years after a successful season.
-
The guy had the #4 recruiting class in the country coming in the year after Vic and Cody left and he's talking about how he should've hired a PR firm so fans would've gotten behind another rebuild? Give me a freakin break. No one was going to get on board with that dude. Big time programs are supposed to reload, but rebuild. If you didn't have the right guys then that's on you Tom. I've never seen someone refuse to accept responsibility for their failures like Tom Crean.

What an insufferable guy. He walks around like he's God's gift to coaching. Words can't explain how happy I am that he's gone.
-
They're just words though man... It's not like he's showing up on their doorsteps with a shotgun in his hands. Honestly I laughed when he said that because it's exactly what I would expect him to say. It's just part of what makes him Bob Knight.

Greatest coach in the history of college basketball. Idk why he does the things that he does, but if he's praising Archie then we're in good hands.

I'm curious what racism a white kid from a city that's 74% white has dealt with all his life.. -

Hi Mr. Boucher. -
I think it's a lot more likely that Crean lost Indiana kids because they thought he was a weirdo than because Izzo started paying players. MSU was already doing so well, I don't think he would need to resort to that.

Player and Recruit Retention News/Discussion & Potential Transfers
Hoosierfan2017 replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I follow them on Instagram. I scroll through my newsfeed on there and when I see something interesting from one of them I share it in case any posters who don't have that social media want to see it. It might seem silly to do, but yesterday Collin was posting in Cook Hall and then today he announced he was coming back. Even if the posts don't mean anything it's cool seeing our guys excited about the program. -

I would be a whole lot more productive without any of it that's for sure lol. Maybe Rojo wasn't getting enough likes on his pic so he deleted it and tried again. -

I remember seeing something right after Crean got fired about how it made him more interested in us. I forget if it was a tweet or an article or what. Here it was. I don't have premium access so all I saw was the title. https://indiana.rivals.com/news/2019-four-star-keion-brooks-open-to-iu-after-coaching-change?preview=true -

Player and Recruit Retention News/Discussion & Potential Transfers
Hoosierfan2017 replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
We averaged 15.2 turnovers and gave up 73.3 points a game last year... 14th and 13th in the conference respectively. Yikes. Relatively minor improvements in those two categories alone would be huge. We'll have to wait to see how good they look with Archie coaching them. Top 10 might be too high but regardless I think we'll be a tournament team. Once we're there anything can happen. -

That's not what I'm saying.. It's not like it was a case where we tried our best in those games and got beat by teams that were just better than us. Even after OG went down we had one of the most talented rosters in the Big Ten. We usually lost games because we didn't play defense, we were careless with the ball, and we didn't have an offense if 3s weren't falling. The talent is already there, it's up to Archie to get the most out of it. Crean obviously couldn't do that.
