For many years UNC had players take fake classes to stay eligible and the NCAA hasn't done anything about it. I would be concerned if people weren't complaining about it.

If you go back and read his tweets from the very beginning he's using dollar amounts to describe how much the scholarship a player receives is worth. For example, in one he said "NCAA..only place 18-24 yr old Athletes make $20,000 to $60,000 for 20 hr a week work only 8 hrs work in the summer months and r "exploited"" He's talking about the worth of the scholarship, which varies depending on where the player is from. When he talks about the "check" players get every month he's talking about the rent check. If they live off campus, and say the price for room and board on campus is $10k, then they get paid that $10k in 12 monthly payments to cover their rent and food. Nowadays the players get a few thousand extra each year for "miscellaneous" expenses, which the NCAA calls their living stipend. Anyways, to end this lengthy post I don't doubt for a second that Michigan paid Andrew Dakich $30k. That's the amount that his one semester scholarship was worth, but he wasn't given a $30k living stipend check like Dakich is trying to make it seem. He wants to draw attention to himself, like usual.

I'm sorry but Dakich is 100% BSing right now. His kid only had a scholarship for one semester and he's trying to say he got a $30k living stipend... Michigan isn't giving out $60k stipends to their players each year. Within the past couple years the NCAA decided to let schools give out stipends to help cover the total cost of attendance for school. Michigan estimates their total COA at around $62k. They give their players around $2,000 in extra stipend money after they give them money for tuition and room/board. I hope Archie is able to consistently land 5 stars, we need some on the roster to be elite. I'm excited/anxious to see what he's able to do on the recruiting trail.

Yeah the NCAA's "official" number might be 20 hours a week or something but there's a lot of extra time they have to put in too. I don't have a problem with letting players make money from signing autographs, selling shirts, whatever they want to do with their own likeness. If schools started paying players instead of giving scholarships though I think there would be some problems. I think there would be less parity between schools and I doubt that the bench players on teams would be worth enough money to cover their school expenses. In a free market I can't see schools dropping $50k a year on players 11-13 on the bench.

Yeah I don't know anything about him or what his attitude is like, just that he's only a middle schooler. If it was the case that he had a "bad" attitude I would chalk that up to him being a kid and the fact that 14 year olds can be immature, not to him having bad character. It wouldn't keep me from wanting us to recruit him, but it sounds like his attitude isn't even a concern in the first place.

I'm sure there are schools that want him, but not any that Crean thinks are good enough for him imo.

Isn't his little brother only an 8th grader? A lot of kids have crappy attitudes at that age.

It's the opposite though.. It's illegal but it's not unethical. Anyway, it's not something I would go around accusing people of, but to each his own I guess.

I think a lot of us want that. I want guys on the sideline that command respect, not guys that are walking memes. I want other fans to think **** when they see us on their schedule and see our coaching staff. I want coaches that make us a tough, nasty team that other teams hate having to play against. I think Bruiser fits that mold.
