Archie Miller's staff at Indiana will be Bruiser Flint, Tom Ostrom (Dayton) and Ed Schilling (UCLA),

I'm all for getting as many coaches that are great recruiters as possible. Crean wasn't the best X's and O's guy out there but we saw what he could do when he had great talent on his teams. The most talented teams are usually the ones going deep in the tournament. I think we'll be fine when it comes to X's and O's. Get guys that can bring Archie great recruiting classes and we'll be in business. -

Priller's not an Indiana kid but that looks bad to coaches too. Forcing out a senior who hasn't had any off the court problems isn't a good look. I understand that it happens at other programs but those coaches are already well-established. If Archie comes in and does it right away I think that could leave a bad taste in people's mouths and get started on the wrong foot. Gelon isn't a 5 star player but he's from the Region and there's some talent up there. His high school coach likely has connections in the state and throwing out one of his players could lead to him bad mouthing the program to other coaches. You can't please everyone but I think Creaning an Indiana kid would set a bad tone in the state right away. We already have enough problems in-state to fix because of Crean, no sense in making it worse than it already is. -

All this Mother Bears love is making me wonder if something's wrong with me for not liking it.. Maybe I haven't tried the right thing there yet. -

Yupp. Priller and Gelon are two main guys on the list and Creaning Gelon would be incredibly stupid. He can't talk about how much he wants to recruit the state and then force out one of our few Indiana kids. Sure Gelon isn't good enough to produce at this level right now but I think the backlash would exceed whatever benefit we would get from opening up a scholarship. -

I don't think Archie is going to come in and try rebuilding relationships with high school coaches by immediately Creaning guys. It's just a bad look imo. -

I fully expect Rojo to return but hearing Albers talk about his "sources" makes me laugh. He's IU's Chris Broussard Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

I think he was saying that the chances all 3 come back are 50/50, not Smith specifically, but maybe I didn't interpret that in the right way. I'm jealous of that pizza deal though. The same thing at pizza x is $16 now [emoji20] Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

I love reading about how Archie wants to come in and have his team be a contender from day 1. Seeing him take the lofty expectations head on is great. -

Yeah like I get that 17 year old kids aren't always going to say the right thing, but that one was pretty bad.. I hope someone got in his ear afterwards and let him know that that's something you don't say even if it's how you feel. -

He would've had more than 5 points if his teammates knew how good he is. -

Ahh I didn't know that. Makes sense that Archie wants to talk to all of them before granting their releases. -

If we end up not having a spot for him I won't feel too bad about it honestly. He wanted out of his NLI so if he decides later on that he still wants to come here but we don't have an open scholarship that's on him. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Agreed. I like to watch sports to get away from politics but ESPN has been incredibly political recently. -

I think it depends on how his offseason goes. He didn't get to campus until the start of the fall semester last year so he missed out on the summer workouts. He has nice athleticism, now we wait and see if he can get some basketball ability to match it. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

I can't see any way that Freddie plays the same kind of role as Troy did, they have completely different games. He's big and strong though so I think he could do some damage banging in the post for 15-20 minutes a night. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Guy #13 on the roster is almost never going to get any playing time regardless of who it is though, #14 if you want to count McRoberts. I don't see a reason to send a good kid packing just so someone else can come and take his seat on the bench. He only has one year left anyway. If anyone has to go I'd rather it be Gelon because he's here for 3 more years. Ideally I'd like us to avoid starting out the new regime with Spring Creaning. If OG leaves, all the other guys from last year stay, and Smith comes does that give us zero open spots? -

Yeah it looks like it was just the bigs. I saw it first on Instagram and they didn't say anything about who was practicing but the Facebook post said it was a bigs workout. I think Durham stays. He's not going to get any better offers than us in all likelihood and he always seemed like he really liked IU. -

I kept trying to find Green, Cujo or Rojo in the video but then I saw the Facebook post about it being a "Bigs workout" too. I love it. There were times I wondered if Crean even knew that we had bigs on the team. It's nice seeing Archie working them out and focusing on post drills, especially so soon. TB was probably so confused when Archie didn't have him working on his perimeter game. -

He could have meant that resources aren't an issue in other regards. Fred was able to upgrade his coach without having to spend more money. Since he only had to pay Archie $3 million he has a lot of money left over that he can use on recruiting, assistant coaches, etc.
