If Crean's back IU basketball takes a hit it's not getting up from.

I should've known better than to waste one of my free Indy Star articles on Doyel's word vomit.

IU's a good school (I go to it) but it's not on the same level as UVA. The lower admission requirements would allow Bennett to go after kids he isn't able to go after now. Whether he would do so is another story.

With the lower academic standards at IU he would probably be able to recruit at an even higher level.

How? He wouldn't be coming into a school with an elite roster. He would have to build a roster through recruiting and repair the damage that has been accumulating over the past ~30 years. He's not young but he could easily be here for the next 15-20 years. Between Archie and Marshall I would go with Archie 100%. Marshall has too many Crean tendencies for me.

Westbrook is overrated don't @ me. Billy if you come to IU you'll get to pick all your players :)

Marshall would make me slightly less upset than another year of Crean.

Coaching Westbrook probably drives him crazy. Exceptional talent, but not someone I would want to play with or coach. The situation he's in now in OKC isn't the one he left Florida for.

Crean is a very "meh" coach. He's not good but he's not bad either. His results are underwhelming at a school like IU but at a school like Missouri he would be seen as a good coach. When it comes to actual in-game coaching, adjustments, etc. I just don't think he's very good, and that's the kind of coach we need here.

If Crean isn't our coach next year I think it's safe to say he was fired, regardless of the phrasing the university puts out. He doesn't strike me as the kind of guy that would step down voluntarily.

Yeah if he's been told he's not coming back next year then I find it strange that he's using our money and resources to recruit for his next job. Just feels off to me. We're throwing away money for no reason.

I don't think so. He sounded like a defeated man in that presser. We played well on the road for the first time in a long time and got a win and he sounded like he was talking about last night's leftovers.

Not that anyone here still needs convinced, but he has now officially went .500 or below in the conference in three of the last four seasons. I'm glad the pro-Crean guys can't use the "he's won 2 of the last 4 big ten titles!!!" argument anymore.

I would rather listen to Skip Bayless talk about LeBron for 2 hours than listen to Dakich call a game.

It's comical how predictable we are. If the 3s aren't falling at an extremely high clip we can lose to anyone, no matter the lead we've built up.

Crean does actually seem like the kind of guy that would think he could find a way to keep his job after being fired lol.

Your post earlier in the thread was what made me think that. All the smoke that has been circling and then they come out and have their best half in a long time.. I think it could be connected.

I'm thinking Crean let them know he's gone and they're trying to send him off on a high note. I sure hope that's the case, at least.

One of my least favorite players of the Crean era.

I don't think he's consistent enough to be considered a good coach. Good coaches know how to build rosters. Crean is horrible when it comes to roster management. Our good teams are almost always lacking an important piece and our bad teams lack several. Good coaches don't go through rebuilds as often as he does. His approach would probably work at a school that doesn't care about basketball where a sweet 16 every few years would make him a god, but he's in way over his head at IU.

The injury excuse has looked stupid since the first time Crean used it.

When I first read it I took it as they're having second thoughts but it would make more sense for him to mean that it's a done deal and they're just waiting for the end of the season to announce it. All of this speculation is driving me crazy.
