I think we do have a true experienced PG in Newkirk. His issue at Pitt was the style was a horrible fit for him, and did not let him do what he does best. He will be very goo din our system and was credited by many within the program for the improved defense once he was able to start practicing, and there were solid reviews of his leadership as well. Will he score like Yogi, probably not, but he will be a very solid replacement in allowing us to play the tempo we want, getting to the rim, and getting the shooters and bigs good looks

(2016) G Lindsey Corsaro to UCLA

Thanks for the update, should know soon it sounds like -
Dayton xfer G Amber Deane to IUWBB
iubirdman replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
The last line is the important one here, we still have a spot open, have not heard anything new or a timeline for a Corsaro decision, but would have hated to see us not have one available for her had she wanted to come here. Looks like a quality signing for the program and gives us a little more perimeter size, could make a really good guard wing rotation with Buss, Cahill, McBride, Elbert, Deane, and hopefully Corsaro -
(2017) PG Dana Evans to Louisville
iubirdman replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
At this point not sure what our odds are with either, but to included on lists that include the likes of Baylor, Louisville, UCLA, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington is big for the program. Be nice to be able to get Corsaro first, pair her with Cahill and Buss (with McBride off the bench) and we would have some really good perimeter scorers. I would think that would have to help with Evans the following year, especially if we have another successful season. Noce to be considered by a McDAA on the womens side this year and a top 10 national recruit in 2017 -
OK I know everyone points to the Mizzou win as a great win last year, but in all honesty how good was Mizzou??? Yea, Yea I know they finished in the top 15 in the country, but in reality thier best win was Minnesota was't it? They beat a 7-5 Fla and an 8-5 TAM group, but that was about it and neither of those teams were great. If that Mizzou team were in the B12 still I doubt they would have been ranked, but not voter was going to keep a team out of the polls that was in the SEC title game, no matter how bad the east was. The 2 really good teams they played they were outscored 76-13

Darius Latham suspended indefinitely
iubirdman replied to KelleyHoosh's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Part of me thinks this may be what the first suspension was about as well. Suspend for the opener due to suspicion/reports of something. With the issues that were going on at the time, have to take a stand, even if proven false. Returns as investigation is ongoing, investigation into whatever ends, presents the findings, and now the suspension is indefinite. -
If we ran a play we were going to score, SIU is not stupid, they wanted as much time as possible to score, they were going to put up no resistance, that is why we needed to take a knee

Not to be that guy, but i will be. I know nothing about his HS coach, but I would be they placed more emphasis on D than IU did last year! I agree that it will be good to get there ASAP to get in weight room, but not sure how much D he will learn this summer based on what we have seen the last 7 years

I think one of the previous posters had it correct, I think OG can develop into what most of us thought Hollowell could. Has a plus skill set and seems to have a solid motor and has been getting better and better the last few years.

TW was playing the 4 anyway. We will play 3 of the 4 guards with Troy and TB. I do think we will see some times with TW, CH, and TB together, but to think that with HMP or DD that we would start Troy at the 3 goes against everything we have seen out of CTC since day 1. Our 4 will be a stretch 4, not a high post or low post 4, everyone wants to think that with a couple of bigs that will change, but it won't. The sooner you come to that realization the less stress you will have during the season

NO MORE B.S., FIRE WILSON!
iubirdman replied to 87ashtonhoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Since CKW arrived here what QB's that initially committed to him have arrived on campus, and which commits/players have actually transfered/never arrived? As far as I can remember the list to commit and arrive to CKW include Caufman, Sudfeld, Diamont, Cameron, and possibly Covington although not sure he was brought in to play QB. The list that has left/never arrived would include 2 Kiel's, Wright Baker, Roberson, Caufman, and now Stevens. Not a great track record in my opinion. We keep saying the offense will be OK with CKW, but really not sure I bye that long term, I mean looking at the QB list the best ones are leaving and not really being replaced with the same or similiar quality -

NO MORE B.S., FIRE WILSON!
iubirdman replied to 87ashtonhoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Posted this in another thread, but at what point do we ask if the recruits and players actually think Wilson is a good coach for QB's? We have had Caufman and Tre transfer and our 3 highest rated QB recruits never make it to campus. I know any of the 3 that could have been here are better than any option we currently have and would argue that at least 2 if not all 3 would have been better or at least equal to what we started the year with. I just have to question how a coach who supposedly is an offensive genius, can not land a quality QB and the ones that he has decide to bail on him -
(2015) QB Tommy Stevens to PSU
iubirdman replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Can someone answer this question for me? Everyone wants to say how much of an offensive mastermind of a coach we have and how he is great for QB's development and all that BS, but when you look at the guys who were committed and or left the program there has to be a reason why. We have lost to transfer Caufman and Tre, and had Gunner and Stevens decommit. All of them better that anyone we have able to play now, and arguably, 3 of them better than anyone we had at the start of the year. Do a ton of people overvalue what they think he is capable of as an offensive mind, or is he that big of a pr!$k that no one at that position wants to play for him, or do we just have bad luck? -
So with the 13 limit they are effectively in the same boat we are for next year if they do not lose any next week correct? We have 13 with 2 commits so 15 for 13 scholly's and they have 11 with 4 commits so 15 for 13 scholly's
-
OK I know that some will jump me for this, but I have to bring it up. Everyone talking about TB not going to Syracuse due to their scholarship situation (full and may be losing 1 or 2 on Monday), but are we not in the exact same boat, albeit for a different reason? We have no scholarships open for next season and already have 2 commits so we are in a worse situation than they are, are we not? I know, I know it will all work out, but for those that say we are looking better that SU due to scholarship situations, not sure how that can be (unless SU has commits already with none avail like we do and are in danger of losing some as well)

Stop with the fire Wilson nonsense
iubirdman replied to iufbfan19's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I doubt that, he is in his 1st year and the previous coach who won 3 straight titles left for Wyoming. It seems to be rare that they make that jump, esp to a power 5 conference. Last time I remember it was when Tressel left Youngstown for OSU. I am sure there are others though -
Stop with the fire Wilson nonsense
iubirdman replied to iufbfan19's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I have said all along I do not think that Wilson is the guy that will get us to where we want to go (for me 7-9 wins every year and a shock when we do not get to a bowl). The odd thing ins I think he can get the players in here that will be good enough to get us to that point, just not sold on his ability to coach the talent once it is here. I think coaching will continue to cost us 1-2 W's a year (so far just BG this year, but did not like the fact that we appeared totally unprepared for MD, we looked like we were still celebrating the Mizzou game). Now do I have an idea of who the answer may be, not a clue but would start by throwing out the name Chris Klieman (although probably not for about 2 years after a little more of a track record as a HC). I know many have not heard of him, but is the coach at North Dakota State. Not saying we make a change now, but I think that is the type we look to if the we do make a change. A proven HC with exp, comes from a def background (pair with good OC for balance). If his continues the success they have had, I can see him wanting to make a jump to a FBS program and would think a power 5 conference school would have more draw than others -
Wish it were only 35, more like 42

Wilson on the hot seat according to an idiot
iubirdman replied to prodigal hoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Since Wilson arrived we have beat exactly 1 FBS team when scoring under 30 points and we have lost 13 games in which we scored 28 or more points (9 in which we scored over 35). At some point that has to fall on the HC -
Wilson on the hot seat according to an idiot
iubirdman replied to prodigal hoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Wison is a very good X and O guy offensively, but not a fan of his play calling (I know blame the OC, but he has to have the ability to overrule the calls) or the teams clock management he has shown. I told one of my friends that Wilson's play calling, sub patterns, or clock management would cost us 2 games this year and we just saw 1 of them. If you have a bubble bowl team, and your coach costs your team 2 games and you do not get a bid, I can see why the seat may be a little warm. You said Mallory was the other teams best weapon last year, but who brought him here???
