(2017) PG Tremont Waters to LSU
AKHoosier replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Has he set a date for his official visit here yet? I thought I read somewhere it was in September, but I can't find anything definitive. Hopefully it's in the next few weeks and decides to close down the process early. -
(2017) PG Paul Scruggs to Xavier
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
He probably doesn't want everyone to see him getting his ass handed to him by Romeo again in the state semifinals, that wouldn't be good for his image or ranking. -

The "About" section of Prolific Prep, which was founded in 2014: http://www.prolificprep.org/AboutOverview.html What a joke. I want Waters all along anyway, and this confirms it. -
(2017) SF Kris Wilkes to UCLA
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I ventured over to some Illini boards and they seem oddly confident with Wilkes, some even saying it's possible he'll verbal on his visit. My, they're going to be awfully disappointed. -
(2017) SF Kris Wilkes to UCLA

Are you saying Bluiett will do the grad transfer thing? -
Never thought I'd see the day when it came to this. Vermont now trying to get some free PR courtesy of ESPiN. Ever since the news came out we're playing against UNC this year, I've been worried IU would try and make a statement and do something stupid and cancel their game with UNC.

(2017) SF Kris Wilkes to UCLA
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
An article on another site said he has an in-home scheduled with Xavier for September 12. I'm sure they'll try to get him to commit to an official visit, but hopefully he's just giving them lip service out of consideration for Scruggs. Xavier may get Scruggs, but there's no way in hell they come into Indiana and steal 2 top 40 guys away from us. And honestly the only reason Scruggs hasn't committed to Xavier yet is probably because we don't have the playing time to offer him that they do. -

I wonder why he scheduled an OV to IU when Jerry Meyer said he's not going to IU? Ha -
(2017) PF Jaren Jackson Jr. to Michigan St.
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
It would be awesome if we have more of a chance than we realize. Getting him on campus would be a big factor I bet, I'd sure like to see him in AH for Hoosier Hysteria. If he doesn't decide until spring and we have a really good year, Thomas Bryant dominates and Davis looks promising, then you never know, maybe we're a more likely destination for him than we thought. -
(2017) PG Paul Scruggs to Xavier
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
See to me, it comes down to who can play point guard in 2018 and beyond: a sophomore Scruggs or a sophomore Waters. Rojo and Newkirk should be able to split PG duties for 2017 no problem barring injury or NBA draft, so neither Scruggs nor Waters would need to run the offense their freshman season. I just like the idea of Waters, a true point guard, practicing against Robert Johnson and Newkirk every day and getting 12 mpg as a backup, and assuming the role of lead PG for 2018 because he's definitely more of a point guard than Scruggs is. I get the argument for Scruggs, and I'd take him, but I want Waters more. -
(2017) C Nick Richards to Kentucky

Well, based on that comment I hope we just chase other fish right now. I'm sure there have been times when bigger recruiting upsets have happened, but this one seems like more of a pipe dream now. Bamba seems like more of a possibility, although that seems to be dwindling too. -

So pretty much he's the exact opposite of Troy Williams. -

Oh me too, just saying what it would mean for 2018. Garland is pretty solid though. -

I'd love to get him for 2017, but that would probably mean we miss out on Garland for 2018. -

I sure hope you heard correctly. Wilkes going anywhere else other than IU would sting more than losing anyone I could remember. -
(2017) PG Paul Scruggs to Xavier

Eh, maybe but that stuff is always overrated. When guys go on OVs they make friends, then they follow them on social media. I don't put much stock into who recruits follow anymore. -
2017 updated recruit wish list

^^I'd definitely take that class as long as one of those "two others" includes a big guy. -

Is Travis Steele still on the staff at Xavier? If so, that would certainly explain the negative recruiting at X. -

Hopefully he puts a lot of stock into who won that battle. -

Our chances at Langford should go up if we miss on Scruggs. -
2016 July Evaluation Period
AKHoosier replied to hoosierpap's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Thanks for doing these run-downs. I haven't been paying that much attention to recruiting this summer, so this has been helpful in getting brought up to speed. From what I know about the 2017 out-of-state kids, Bamba is #1 on my wish list. It sounds like he's going to put a ton of stock into how teams do this year, and in his own words, he'll watch college basketball with a microscopic lens this season. My hope is we get off a fast start and win at least 2 of 3 against Kansas, UNC, and Louisville, Thomas Bryant is averaging 16 and 10 while looking like a beast and shooting up draft boards, and we're ranked top 10 before the start of conference play. That'll be huge for recruiting Bamba and the local guys. -

I hate Matta, but I hate him a little less after reading that. That's pretty awesome, although I find it pretty hard to believe Jaquan Lyle wasn't one of the problems, and is a solution.

2016 July Evaluation Period
AKHoosier replied to hoosierpap's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
As long as the '17 in-state guys don't commit until the Spring, I'm not worried at all. It seems they're all just going through the recruiting process. Yeah they may be leaning out of state for now, but we have the opportunity to showcase ourselves really well this season if we take advantage of it. We should have a really good year, and if we come out and trash North Carolina at home, beat Louisville on a neutral floor, and take care of Kansas to start the season, and contend for another B1G championship, IU will look a lot better to recruits whether they are from Indiana or elsewhere. -
(2017) SF/PF Malik Williams to UofL
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
So over the past 14 days you went from saying "word is he wants MSU" to "trending Louisville." Is it safe to say he's just playing out the process and there's a long way to go? Regardless, the article on TOS doesn't sound too promising, as we were not even mentioned as one of 7 schools recruiting him. Out of the 4 in-state kids for 2017, I have the least confidence in getting Williams.
