    Corruption in College Basketball

I'm just waiting for news about Kansas. I honestly think they've been up to more shady things than Kentucky. If you remember, Bill Self struggled to get the one-and-done type talent until all of a sudden he didn't. I think it was either Xavier Henry or Josh Selby that "broke the seal".

I'm pulling this from another board because it's a tad relevant to us: According to an AAU coach, South Carolina, Kansas, and UCLA may be next. There's also approximately 15 Adidas sponsored AAU programs on a list to be investigated. Indiana Elite, Team Loaded, Mass Rivals, and Atlanta Celtics to name a few. The ASM raid may implicate some parents of Indiana players aka Teague and Lyles.
  3. It may take a week or so, but I'm just waiting for this latest shoe to drop on Kansas, pun intended. There's no way they haven't been a beneficiary of some shady stuff.

My favorite tweet I saw earlier, not mine: BREAKING: Rick Pitino denies ever having coached Louisville.

Did Vitale actually call AZ sleaze? That's so uncharacteristic of him to talk like that about a school or coach. Usually he defends coaches at all cost, to an obnoxious level. He even defended freakin' Larry Brown.

Man I'm glad to not be a Louisville fan right now. Their boards are so sullen and gloomy, most fans just hope the school is allowed to keep their ACC membership

I, for one, can't wait for our game against University-6 this December.

I think someone is sensing an opportunity to get some more attention. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice.....
  9. I read it, really not much to it. His dad gave the interview, gave a glowing review of the visit and staff and Vandy. But when asked about the other schools, also made a point to say Darius is from Indiana, the IU in-home visit was a really impressive one, and that actually the in-home visits are the biggest factor in recruiting. He also named the entire IU staff by name, something he didn't do for the other schools. Said Darius likes Indiana "a lot". Also Duke is out. To add, he said Darius' biggest deal will be his ability to be the lead guard. His "dream is to be the lead guard". There's no way that doesn't bode the best for IU.
  10. I'm guessing this is in reference to the post on the Vandy board about Garland telling people he's going to commit to Vandy soon.
  11. Not Peegs. Also don't want to get myself in trouble either haha.
  12. This should probably go in the Romeo thread, but I read on another board that Langford actually had a very "meh" time on his visit to Vandy which, in turn, could effect what Garland thinks of VU since they were there together.
  13. lol good, keep doing you. And for the record, it's 1,000x better than someone who is negative or the constant contrarian. I love the positivity and you're right, lots of good things happening now compared to this time last year.
  14. lol. I can sum up the gist of HoosierGuy's posts in two sentences: What will happen? THE BEST POSSIBLE SCENARIO What definitely won't happen? ANYTHING LESS
  15. But Hulls, Watford, and Oladipo WERE on the team when they won 12 games. Then they added Cody and won 27. I don't disagree any of the other guys weren't valuable, but Cody was by far the biggest difference. If you take him off that 2011 team, no way would we have stayed within 15 pts of Kentucky or won as many games as we did. I'd probably say 18 games would have been our max win total from that year without Zeller. Now I don't think he's on any lists of top 10 or 15 Hoosiers of all-time, because you can't really compare him to guys who won banners or got to Final 4s. But I definitely wouldn't call him overrated in any case either.
  16. Yeah, the words "program savior" etc are just irrelevant and meaningless. It was a term even he didn't want and he never considered himself one anyway. Ultimately, the fact is a player can only effect and influence a program during his years there. And in Cody's first year at IU, we more than doubled our win total from the year before. And that was prior even to Vic making his huge sophomore to junior leap. And the next year, we won 2 more games and a conference championship. I just can't understand how someone could say he's overrated. Hanner Perea was overrated. Jeremy Hollowell was overrated. Noah Vonleh probably was overrated. James Blackmon was overrated imo.
  17. Incredibly overrated. Tom Pritchard would have averaged 15 and 6 after completely changing his game over that summer. And Hanner Perea would have been our big man in 2012 and we would have been just fine with him there instead of Cody.
  18. We'd have a tough time finding Vandy fans if we were in downtown Nashville decked out in black and gold.
  19. smh this is so wrong. Yogi committed two weeks after Zeller did and BECAUSE of Zeller. We did contend for a championship with him here. I'd say if you are ranked a large portion of the year #1, among the pre-season title favorites, and go to a Sweet 16, then you contended for a championship. Which is extremely ambiguous anyway, I mean couldn't you make the argument that any team who makes the tournament technically contends for a championship? Who cares about career stats? That's just not that relevant when trying to make the argument someone is overrated, because it doesn't paint the whole picture. The year before he arrived, we were 12-20 and 11th in the B1G. The year he arrived, we were 27-9 and 5th in the B1G. Then we went 29-7 and won the B1G. Those results were not even remotely possible without Zeller. Again, you're trying to strengthen your argument by using ambiguous, non-measurable things like "contending for a championship" and "program savior". The point is, if we didn't get Zeller in 2011, we had no real backup plan except for Robert Goff, who would not have given us nearly the improvement Cody did. It wasn't Cody's fault we didn't win it all.
  20. Bro in today's college basketball environment, having a 5* PG on your roster for 2 years rather than 1 is a huge, colossal difference. Especially when you give him some potential 2019 talents to play with like Watford, Hurt, Wiseman, TJD, or Brooks combined with a sophomore Anderson, Hunter, Thompson, etc.
  21. Wat. He was ranked #15 in his class and should have been top 3. Made a crappy team very good.
  22. So we're all rooting for Bama tonight, right? Not that it makes a difference but I'll take any advantage we can get.
  23. Just think about the future too. Even if we miss out on our top 2018 targets (doubtful), I think we'll end up with a stellar 2019 class regardless. Imagine if we close out 2018 with Garland and Langford, and have a 2019 class of some combination of Watford/Brooks/TJD/Coleman/Hurt. IU would be the "it" school again and back on the map. Top kids would come here because other top kids want to come here. I know I'm putting the cart before the horse, but man it's so hard not to get excited.
  24. I guess Evan Daniels said Darius has eliminated Duke and UK, but I can't find evidence of this except on another board. Says he's down to IU and Vandy.
  25. I more worry about him taking an NBA or Kentucky assistant job, as he's close with Calipari. I agree though, I'm hoping we can get at least 4 good years out of him. Hopefully he REALLY likes being back in Indiana and doesn't bolt for a job like Ball State or Butler.
