(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Obviously the big news is that he visited on his own dime and time, which is awesome. But does anyone know who he visited with? It wasn't his parents who accompanied him. -

I imagine the fact that Romeo was at the game today. Being on hand while we blow out NW can't hurt. -
(2018) SF - Jerome Hunter Transfers To Xavier
AKHoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Wow he dominated Bazley, outscored him and forced him into 5 turnovers per reports. Also saw a tweet that Archie has been telling Hunter he'll play small forward. -
Dang, not as many games tonight, but St. Johns hanging in there against Villanova on FOX Business.

Yeah Purdue's best teams always peak in late January and early February, (not that we're any stranger to doing that either). Keep in mind the B1G is really bad this year. They'll run through the conference then get exposed in the round of 32.

Not sure where else to put this, so I'll put it here since it's relevant to Romeo. I'm watching Darius Garland in the Tournament of Champions on CBS Sports Network and it pains me to say, he's really good. In the 4th quarter and he's got 35 points against La Lumiere. But it also occurs to me, there's no way another scorer who wants to be featured in an offense like Romeo Langford would mesh well with Garland. Darius is so used to being the guy, throwing up tons of shots, I just can't see Romeo wanting to play with him. It'd be different if Romeo was a 6'9" post player, but they're both back court players. I just don't see him playing at Vandy with Garland. -
I just heard the Big Ten Tournament starts on February 28th this year? Holy goodness that is early. I knew it was going to be pushed up a bit but didn't realize it was that soon.
-
Yikes. I feel like he should just be permanently blacklisted from college basketball.

And a high school gym. Seriously, I don't know who designed the layout of that gym but it is so odd.

1/9 IU vs Penn State University Game Thread

Happy to get the win! Sets us up for a big game against Northwestern on Sunday. Win that and we're 11-7 and 4-2 in conference, which would be nice. -

Good point. Thing to keep in mind too is that he said IU leads, not that it's a done deal or anything. -
(2021) G Luke Brown to Ball State
AKHoosier replied to HoosierCoop's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
That was a good article in the Indy Star today about him. It'll be interesting to see how this develops over the years, as some of these kids you just never know. He's only a freshman right now, the rest of his class could catch up to him in time. If he does in fact grow to 6'2'' or 6'3'' then it could get interesting, he'll very likely be Division 1. Cool for Hartford City though. -

It's warpy, if people know who that is. Yeah he also called Garland to IU which is why I was hesitant to get excited but he sounds pretty confident. Another dude chimed in and said the same thing too so it's better than bad news. -

I would love to get this one and rattle off 3 straight B1G wins including NW on Sunday, but going 0-2 with this team wouldn't surprise me either. -

The insider on TOS says we still lead and Kansas is not in it. FWIW. -

I just hope Vandy keeps losing and we keep winning as much as we can. Kansas is Kansas. -
Final : Indiana 75 - Minnesota 71 | RoJo Career High
AKHoosier replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yeah I'm tempering my expectations too. I think we'll go 1-1 over the next 2, we'll beat PSU but NW will beat us. I don't like our chances against a veteran-laden team, and we seem to play worse at home for some reason. We may have a problem under pressure in front of our home crowd. -
Potential starting 5 for next year, does Juwan GoPro?

Does Morgan graduate this year? That may play heavily into the equation here. If he gets his degree he may take his talents overseas, with a puncher's chance of getting drafted. -

Glad we got the win! Feels good to celebrate something regarding this team. Awesome job by Johnson, Smith, and Morgan. -
Notre Dame wins the same way Florida won today, and I don't think I've ever seen a game end like that before. A turnover on what seems like the final possession of the game turns into a last second transition basket. Crazy.
-
Wow that Florida ending. Unreal

Wow no way. Kid probably won't be able to play for Vandy until second semester next season now at the earliest. That sucks. Edit: just to add, the injury took place on December 28, not last night. He underwent the MRI today and it doesn't say he tore an ACL, just apparently hyper-extended his knee on a layup. Never know with those non-contact knee injuries though I suppose, they're almost always ACLs. -
Yeah I feel that way when we lose in the tournament too. That year we lost to Syracuse in the Sweet 16 I don't think I watched another tournament game at all after that night.

Since you can't really quantify athleticism and it's tough to describe, you just have to go on the eye test. And he doesn't pass it. He can't rebound well. If his vertical was decent, then he'd dunk more, and I feel like I can count the number of times he's dunked on one hand. He isn't fast, he has no recovery speed on defense. He's at his best when someone feeds him the ball and he backs in the defender in the post. When that gets taken away, there's not much he can do.
