(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yeah I saw that too on TOS. It seemed pretty positive for IU actually. -
I wonder if Dick Vitale is calling a game tonight, because I want to hear what he has to say about the past 24 hours. Who am I kidding, I already know what he's going to say. He'll stick up for every coach because "Coach cares about the kids! He cares about his players!" and will be even more sympathetic to the players because "he's a good kid, he was raised right!"
-
I wonder if Ayton will play tonight too. Seems odd to hold one out without the other. But heck, I'd be willing to bet if you held Ayton out, you'd also have to hold out half the Arizona lineup too.

Romeo's parents are Vandy grads? I don't think that's correct.

(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
The part that's starting to worry me here about Romeo is that when Crean was here, we just didn't recruit him at all. That leads me to believe Crean knew what was going on, and just wasn't willing to play ball like other coaches were. You'd think if his recruitment was totally clean, Crean would have camped out in his front yard given that he knew landing an in-state McDonald's All American would potentially save his job. I'm just starting to come around to WayneFleek's thinking on this. I mean, the evidence is right there in front of us. And I'm not blaming Romeo or his family in all this. It's just the way things are for 5 stars. -
Yeah this is what worries me the most when it comes to IU's potential involvement in all this. During the end of the 2015 season (I think that was the year) when Crean was on the hot seat, we lost a bunch of late-season games, the calls for getting rid of Crean were getting louder, and then what happens? Thon Maker and Thomas Bryant walk through the door on visits on the same day. I think we played Iowa or MSU that day, and the program had absolutely no momentum at all. If anything it was starting to get a little toxic. You'll never convince me we didn't get Thon Maker on campus without doing some under the table stuff.

Right, and the thing is, whether or not Vandy offered him money could be completely irrelevant when determining his eligibility for 2018-2019. I'd say there's a 99.9% likelihood that Shittu or someone in his camp was looking for a payout during his recruitment. If any news drops, he could be declared ineligible just like Bowen was, even if Vandy had nothing to do with it. Then that vaunted class takes a pretty big hit.
-
Also, I'm just waiting on something to come out regarding Simi Shittu implicating Arizona and Vanderbilt. Arizona was once the favorite for him, which surprised a lot of their fans because he hadn't even visited campus at that point. Miller visited Shittu twice in one week! Then the FBI probe breaks out, the UA assistant gets fired, and Shitti no longer considers Arizona. Ends up at Vanderbilt. All I know is if Shittu had ended up at Indiana I'd be sweating bullets right now.

Come again?

There are a lot of Kansas fans being holier than thou on Arizona saying they're glad Miller is finally being outed as a cheater. What they don't realize is that KU has, indirectly, likely been outed as well in this Ayton case. The only other finalist listed for Ayton last year was Kansas, and their fans were frankly shocked when he picked Arizona. Now we know why he chose Arizona. But Sean Miller wasn't offering $100K just because he's philanthropic; he was outbidding someone. In this case, it had to be Kansas. Miller just won the bidding war.
-
So when the NCAA attempts to clean this up, doesn't the NBA have to come to the table and be part of any solution? I mean a lot of this would be resolved if kids could go pro out of high school. Not all of it, but a good amount.
-
Yeah for real, it's crazy to think about what's been learned since I woke up this morning.
-
I'm just trying to think of our current coaching staff and if they could potentially get caught up in this. Archie Miller was on Sean's staff at one time. Not gonna lie, that makes me nervous. Ed Schilling was a pretty good recruiter at UCLA, they got some talent the years he was there. Ugh.
-
Why? For all we know as of right now, he could have known about the Dawkins/Martin contact and told Martin to tell him to go pound sand. Which may have ultimately saved us big time.
-
It doesn't say if Martin reached out to Dawkins, or if Dawkins reached out to Martin. I'd think that matters, and I'd like to think it was the latter since he never considered us at all. Tonight is the first time I've ever seen "Indiana" and "Brian Bowen" in the same sentence.
-
An interesting twist here - Chuck Martin is now an assistant at South Carolina, which is where Brian Bowen ultimately transferred to after leaving Louisville.

My thoughts exactly. One of the all-time greats in Indiana high school history goes to............. a f***ing 11 win Vanderbilt team. What a stab to the heart, but when it happens, we'll be able to finally move on. It'll be a low point for sure, but we'll be ok next year. I like our future. -
FYI Toledo is currently playing on CBS Sports Network if anyone wants a look at the possible transfer candidate Jaelan Sanford. He's #13.
-
After today it seems like Kentucky and Seton Hall have the most reason to be worried. UK could end up vacating a lot of games over the past few years, I could very well see Cal bolting Lexington after this season. His ruse is up.
-
Oh, so that's why we lost out on Isaiah Whitehead.
-
Caleb Swanigan was a first-rounder, it would be hilarious to see Purdue go down in all this. Doubt it though since his guardian is an agent.

Bardo is so dumb saying Nebraska is a definite tournament team. We're playing like sh1t and they're barely beating us. They are not a tournament team. -
