Transfer Portal w IU Interest
AKHoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yeah and how many IU gifs did he post in regard to Boogie Fland when that recruitment was winding down? Anyone remember the coach we were going up against? -
If that's the path, I fully support blowing the NIL budget this year to build a competitive team that hopefully can make the second week of the tournament at least, then Woodson retires paving the way for Brad Stevens in 2025. I can dream.

I would be very interested to hear if you ever fire up the PM train on this topic. -

I've always wondered about this. If I was a multimillionaire being asked to give to NIL, no way would I not want to decide who the money goes to. But that's just me. -
He'll bring UConn even with UK in total national titles by the end of the decade. Some down years will happen, but he's already earned plenty of leeway. The only real threat to poaching him is the Knicks/Nets/Celtics. IMO.

It's not an accident that Nate Oats released a statement this week confirming his commitment to remaining Alabama's coach. -

He definitely raises our floor in a major way, which is exciting. However, if we don't land any shooters then I don't know how many more wins we'll have than this past season. Is he an upgrade over Ware? I don't really think he is. -

Based on coaches who made statements and official reports, they went after Hurley, Oats, and Drew. -

Donovan looks rough these days. He seems more ready to retire than jump into the pressure cooker that is UK basketball. -

Yeah. Shrewsberry could very well turn out to be a lifer somewhere. But he would still be a tough sell right now. He's just lost a lot of games over the past few years. I know he hasn't been anywhere that long, but that makes him unproven and for me, a reason to back off. -

I'm 50/50 on the Ballo news. The positives are obvious. He would add very good defensive and rebounding capabilities. Very good finisher around the rim too. But how does he co-exist with Reneau though? I would hope to see Reneau step out and shoot maybe 3-4 3s per game if we land a post presence like Ballo. Malik has a respectable enough shot from outside that defenses have to account for. Maybe we can actually go 4 out 1 in. -

Rupp Rafters is gold right now. Some are relieved, since now the AD can refocus efforts on Hurley and Donovan. They could potentially get Pearl. I could see him wanting to chase a title there. UK needs a personality, never saw the fit with Drew. -
So does this mean we can talk bad about Woodson in any thread now or what

Someday we'll again have a coach we worry about getting poached every offseason. That day is unfortunately not today. -

UK fans wanted Cal gone because they thought Hurley would be a near-lock. They're gonna end up with Mark Pope. And Rupp Rafters will be must-see tv. -

Please tell me he's about to turn them down. They'll have to move on to the C list of candidates if so. The meltdown would be glorious. -
Patiently waiting for Pierre Delecto to make an appearance on this board.

Tyme's posting style and arrogance are the biggest giveaway he's either on staff, or directly related or friends with someone on staff. He doesnt want to see IU win because he's a fan, just wants to see IU win so he can spike the football and he's financially vested in us doing well.

I'm not convinced that Hurley offer is even real. But it's definitely making the rounds, so lots of UK fans are running with it and getting their hopes up. To the point where anyone other than Hurley will be a disappointment. If it gets to the point where Drew publicly turns them down, I'm pretty sure their board's server will crash. -

Just ventured over to Rupp's Rafters and they're pissed at the thought of hiring Scott Drew. I figured they would be all for it. I guess they all convinced themselves they were getting Hurley. You could do a lot worse than someone who won a national title at freakin Baylor. -
Yes that's what I'm referring to.

I'm sure we do, and I hope it happens. However, everyone has money. I don't think we are alone in having deep pockets. -
My hot take that's probably wrong is Tyme/NGW is Yasir Rosemond. He clearly is attached to the staff, if not on it. The only way someone could possibly be that confident is if they were getting all their information in real-time directly from the staff.

Definitely. The 2022-2023 season is still fresh in my mind though. They were expected to take a big step back after getting upset by St Peter's, and losing Ivey and Williams. They opened the next season unranked, but then catapulted to the top 5 after winning the Thanksgiving tournament in Oregon and haven't looked back since.

Conwell would be a huge add. Everyone will be after him though. It will definitely be to our benefit that UK is in the flux that's it's currently in, I could have seen Calipari going all out for Conwell.
