This format is so terrible. If anyone is capable of taking the fun out of Selection Sunday, it's the NCAA.

(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yeah count me in as someone who appreciates any rumors, whether good or bad. I think we all know by now to take every rumor and tea leaf with a grain of salt, as it'd be ridiculous to take everything on a message board as gospel. It's way better than the worthless back and forth that has gone on for about 50% of this thread. -
Good for him, I hope he does. He'd be a good fit at Georgia.

So Tubby Smith is really throwing a wrench into Memphis' dream to fire him and get Penny Hardaway. They just keep winning haha. If they beat UC today in the semifinal, they'd be 22-12 with a good chance of getting an at-large bid, and of course would play tomorrow for the auto-bid. Surely they won't fire him after making a run to get to the tournament right?

(2019) SF Keion Brooks Jr. to Kentucky

Keion Brooks has some of the skinniest legs I've ever seen. Like Maurice Creek honestly. -

Just thinking out loud, but Romeo picking IU would definitely be great PR for IU in southern Indiana. It would make IU a cool school to go to, which is good for our exposure in that area of the state. Too many people down there are UK/UL fans, sometimes because IU just gives them nothing to cheer for lately. Getting Romeo would go a long way in changing that. I just get so damn sick of seeing that "Southern Indiana is Louisville Country" billboard down there. -

Ugh this recruitment needs to quit toying with me. Just imagining our roster with additions of Romeo, Sanford (possibly), and a grad transfer big is already getting me excited for next year. -
Whoa when did he say that? I must have missed that.

So does the IU players going to Romeo's game last night pretty much put to bed that rumor about Archie informing his coaching staff that Langford is going to Kansas? I think it pretty much does. I can't see Archie telling his coaches that we're not getting Romeo, then turning around and telling 3 current players to take time out of their Saturday night and go watch his tournament game. Just my 2 cents. In this case, actions speak louder than message board rumors. -

That's such a smart play by Archie to send players to watch Romeo's game, because he still has his 2 visits to use. Plus Romeo can still visit IU this month. It's one thing for the coach to show he wants you, it sends a completely different, yet just as effective, message for the players you would be playing with to show up and show they want you on the team too. -

Eh that sounds like something a school like Vanderbilt would do. No offense to East, but he doesn't have any high Division 1 offers and he's a senior playing on a great team. I'm sure he'd be just as good as our preferred walk-ons, so maybe offer him one of those. -
I feel like Ole Miss would be lucky to get him, but I'm surprised Matta is still open to coaching. I've always thought his health was a big factor in OSU's recent slide.

Is there an online stream for tonight's New Albany game? -

I honestly wouldn't even care if Romeo went to Kansas. If he did, I'd root for him next year and I do want to root for him. Just, if he doesn't go to IU it better not be freaking Vanderbilt. -
(2018) G/F Damezi Anderson to Detroit Mercy
AKHoosier replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yeah I wish I was more impressed with them but I just didn't feel like I was watching the #2 team in the state tonight. Still a good team though and I hope they do well. -

Me too! Made it out to Mishawaka and watched them take on Penn. First time I've seen him play live. You can tell he's a good player, has some nice length, but I feel like he settled for too many jump shots. That breakaway dunk he had was pretty nice though. I'm really looking forward to see him develop, he'll definitely need to spend a lot of time in the gym and get some good coaching. -

Is there any chance Romeo loses tonight? I hope Archie gets a chance to take a visit down there now that he's a little less busy. -
We have such a long way to go, and it'll be nice to get some new blood in here next year. I feel like our culture has changed a little bit from the previous coaching staff, but we've still got a long way to go. I worry about what will happen with De'Ron Davis. His interview he gave a month ago made it seems like he doesn't even like basketball very much anymore. He probably can't work out much due to his injury, so he likely has put on some bad weight over the last few months. He'll have to go through that weight loss all over again just like last year. He really needs to be around 230 lbs to be more effective as a big in Archie's system since he's slow and not very athletic.

I think Crean would be a good fit for Maryland. He could recruit the DMV all he wants.

Starting to wonder what B1G teams will have coaching vacancies after this season. MSU? I think Izzo survives the year. Minnesota? Pitino could very well be on the hot seat but he probably gets another year. Maryland? Most likely vacancy in the B1G. Turgeon hasn't done anything lately, and will miss the tournament as one of the worst B1G teams.

I heard there are buses around NYC advertising for the BTT, and they have pictures of Basil Smotherman on them, also Troy Williams. Basil transferred from Purdue I think 2 years ago, and obviously Williams isn't here. Fail.

Player and Recruit Retention News/Discussion & Potential Transfers
AKHoosier replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Me too, Sanford is impressive and I really hope he transfers to IU. I watched him play a few weeks ago and was really impressed. He hit a few threes, drove and dunked on a guy, and defended pretty well from what I saw. He's got a good build for a guard too, not really that wiry. If we miss on Romeo and end up getting Sanford, I really won't be all that upset. Obviously Romeo is the bigger get for a variety of reasons, but I'd take Sanford even if we didn't need a guard. -
Love seeing UNC lose, especially like that. What a shot. Refs tried to bail them out with calls towards the end. Heck of a game.

Fringe top 25 team would be quite a stretch. They have a ton of turnover after this season, and are replacing experienced players with unproven, yet talented, freshman. They do have Matt Ryan, the transfer from ND, coming in next year though who could be ok. But it'll take a long time for them to figure it out and put it together. Something Drew has never done. Even Calipari takes a while every year to get his team playing well, and he's a better coach than Drew is. -
