No matter how bad the season gets, a change is not getting made in the basketball program until after next season at the earliest. Any coach needs a minimum of 3 full seasons to prove themselves IMO. If football and basketball continue on the current trajectory, the first to go needs to be Dolson. He can't be the one picking the replacement for Allen or Woodson.
-
I'm starting to believe that Woodson was a 3-4 year stop gap after Stevens said no, and Oats, Musselman, etc refused to entertain the idea of coaching in this league. Dolson wanted somebody to keep us competitive for a while, in the meantime other coaches would prove themselves for us to consider down the road.

Our basketball and football programs have regressed so much under Dolson. We might be better off in the MAC if this keeps up another few years.

Hindsight is always 20/20 but Fife clearly should have been the hire if we wanted an IU guy due to his age and the fact he's still hungry in his early years of coaching. Woodson was freakin 63 when we hired him. Probably took the job to pad his retirement account. -
I swear I just saw Tim Buckley on South Carolina's bench.
-
I really don't think Donovan was ever an option.

Would you hire Chris Beard as an Assistant / Head Coach at Indiana

This. He's got a lot of work to do if he wants to become a major college coach again. My guess is he takes a year or 2 off, and becomes a CBB color analyst for some network before a small school in the Southwest gives him a chance. -
We suck, and our main rivals don't.
-
And Woodson just lost at home to NW, is 2-4 in his last 6 games with the wins coming against Elon and Kennesaw State, and will likely lose the next 3. What's your point.

Game Thread: vs. Northwestern 1/8/23 at Noon on FS1

All three 5 star players on our roster are playing. Boatload of other 4 star, top 150 players. We don't have a talent problem. Certainly not when matched up with Northwestern at home. -

Wrong, we are lucky to have him! I was repeatedly informed when we landed him how much of a home run hire this was, and that we likely dodged a bullet by whiffing on Brad Stevens. -
Fire him. Now. File a restraining order that prevents him from coming within a mile of university property.

Knowing Peegs, it's likely "encouraging chatter that Race Thompson will one day walk again." -

Yes, because I can already tell how the season will play out. Actually playing the games seems like a formality. Win almost all of our home games, and lose all but 1 of our road games. Bubble team. First round tournament exit. Bookmark this if you wish. -

It's an upsetting loss, but not unexpected. That's the tragedy, that I've become accustomed to expecting a loss on the road, no matter the opponent. I have us losing all of our road games except Minnesota, and winning all of our home games except Wisconsin. That leaves us around 19-12 for the season. Sad, because I know this team is talented and experienced enough to win the conference and get to a Final 4. -
Don't forget the fact that in order to fire the offensive coordinator for the football team last year, the money required had to come from the head coach's salary. I mean isn't that what all the great programs do?

For f*** sake.

Didn't McCaffery wander over to our sideline last year too during the B1G Tournament? I swear that happened. He's so unlikable it's unreal. -

What in the actual **** is that ref doing? For God sakes, college basketball has the worst referees of any sport. -

Injuries are derailing the whole year. Sucks. This is supposed to be our really good season too. -

Really encouraged early! We look like we want it, Iowa looks listless and like they'd rather be somewhere else. -
Jumping to conclusions quite a bit here. Why is that a racist statement? What's more sad is that you would immediately jump to that conclusion. Please use discretion when trying to label someone a racist, it's a very powerful accusation in today's climate.

Iowa does seem like kind of in shambles currently, I may have to adjust my prediction of a 9 point Iowa win Thursday. I'd feel better if we were fully healthy, but with X out and TJD dealing with issues of his own, I'm not sure we can pick up a road win in a tough environment. -
I would have liked for him to elaborate on what makes them scumbags. I'm sure he can provide some insight the rest of us don't have access to.

Would be a step towards ruining a great product. I'd have to imagine every team from a power conference over .500 would get a tournament bid if this gets adopted. Forget making the regular season meaningless, it would make the first round of the tournament meaningless. But they've already ruined college football's postseason, so why stop them now?
