Hated it from the beginning. Wanted to be proven wrong, but it doesn't feel like I have been. Even after 3 years, I still can't believe we hired Mike Woodson.
-
Still blows my mind that Rutgers bagged 2 of the top 10 in that class.

2024 PG Daquan Davis to Florida State
AKHoosier replied to Gnet550's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I believe it was only one game Vonleh sat out, much to the dismay of fans. A lot of fans speculated that he was preserving his draft stock. Going off memory here, but I think it was an Ohio State home game and Hanner Perea played pretty well, indicating he'd be ready to shoulder more minutes in the future front court when Vonleh left. Ha. -

Hummel can't hide his giddiness when IU is playing poorly. Objectively I think he's better than most, but can't help feel like he can't wait to pile on IU when we're struggling. -
Why is DePaul considered such a tough job? Seems like its access to Chicago talent and being in the new Big East would be a good sell. But, I know nothing about the program or its history.
-
Yep, this. I'm not motivated to go buy IU gear whatsoever right now. However if were 15-3 with a Top 10 record after having trounced Purdue a week ago I'd probably have ordered another IU hoodie I don't need by now. Whether it's, Nike, Adidas, Puma, or LA Gear.

Meh. Good coach and all, but a gamble. I also don't want to go from complaining about how his team defenses grab and hold their opponents, to being forced to like it if he became our coach.
-
Ok yes let's do that.

Blow everything up again on a maybe? Man, look where we are. What success are we messing with? We're probably missing the tournament even with three 5 stars in our starting lineup and ~10 years of experience in our starting backcourt. I will say we need to let the season play out, but I'm totally willing to lose what we have and start over if we finish the way I think it will go.

He plays a fun style that flows way better than our offense. Better basketball minds than mine can probably put details and specifics around that statement. I just know what I see when I watch his games vs ours. I say with our NIL, fan support, and recruiting grounds I'd sure as heck be happy with him at the helm.

Didn't Noah Vonleh do the same thing toward the end of that season? -
Shrewsberry isn't someone I would target first, second, or third, but if we ended up hiring him there is an awful lot to be excited about. We need someone a little more proven is why I say that.
-
If we have to watch Sisley tear it up at Purdue then I'm just done caring.
-
Tony Bennett? Sure. Can't turn down a guy who has won a title, not to mention a ton of games in the ACC. Can we tolerate an offense scoring 22 points by halftime though? Idk. Also, he's very sink or swim. Been upset by quite a few lower seeded teams, but then again who hasn't. Just get a college coach. DeVries checks a lot of boxes too.

Omg these refs treat Edey like a total baby. Guy on Iowa poked the ball out of his hands and what do you know, 2 free throws for lurch.
-
Dakich has never been shy about his disdain for Buckner. I have no opinion of Buckner but the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

Thanks. Did not catch the game last night. Good lord.

What happened that made Don say this?

(2025) - PG Jalen Haralson to Notre Dame
AKHoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Unfortunately for the 2025 class, we may not have the stability to end up with those guys. If we were having Purdue's consistency I'd be a lot more confident about getting at least 2 of those. We still might, but I'm just hoping our loss isn't PU's gain. That would be a gut punch. -
They're playing in a different and better conference this year aren't they?
-
I'm not debating that at all. I am making the point he's still a very high premier target/candidate even if he isn't interested.
-
Imagine if Stevens somehow made it known he's interested in coaching college basketball again. Programs like Michigan and Louisville would instantly fire their respective coaches just to make it known they're available.
-
Stevens has turned us down twice now. The only hope is that he wants to get back in to coaching again. I can see that being way less appealing than his current job. The transfer portal and NIL seem like huge headaches to coaches.
-
The more I read about Josh Schertz, the Indiana State coach, the more he moves to the top of my list. His record has been awfully impressive. Young, and a good evaluator of talent by finding guys who fit his system.

How much is his buyout after this season?
