IU vs Louisville Post Game Thread
AKHoosier replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
It's the same thing we offered Kentucky and they turned it down. I would love this. We've been doing neutral site games for years, back to the Knight days. I'd like to see a solid home-and-home with another program in there as well, but I like this plan. -
I'm a day late but you beat me to it. The "loss" of Kenny Johnson was so overrated I can't even put it into words. Sometimes I wish he would have taken his first two recruits with him.

Should have been a flagrant on Harrell for pushing Troy in the back on that layup. -

Yeah this is the beginning of the end of this one. We just can't hit some open 3s, giving up offensive rebound after offensive rebound, missing free throws... -

Yeah if we could trade a Zeisloft 3 for some of his turnovers, we'd be ahead now. We need his length/athleticism in there, so we basically have to hope and pray that Troy doesn't screw up. -

Exactly, I just cringe every time Shulman says "and now IU going to their bench." Crean has to find a rotation of 7 or 8 tonight and not be afraid to have guys get tired. -

Damn, refs letting Louisville get away with almost everything, just like their run through their tournament a few years ago. -

Yogi's going to have to play the rest of the game. -

Had no idea Crean was 6-1 against Pitino at one point. Crean actually does do well in big games, I'm feeling weirdly optimistic right now. -
Hoosier Transfers and Recruiting Targets

FWIW Eric Bossi compared Juwan Morgan's game to Jamari Traylor. I like that comparison, I'd take a junkyard dog like Traylor on our team any day. I hope they couldn't be more unlike each other off the court though, given the above news. -

Yep, he's gotta be regretting his decision to not even visit us. I can't even imagine the negative recruiting Matta must have done to get him to commit during his first and only visit, especially since Lee was considering IU and Kansas, two schools with better track records of getting guys to the NBA recently. -

I like the neutral court matchups, as long as they're against a team that's going to put asses in the seats. Some of these teams, Georgetown for example, don't travel very well and the environment suffers tremendously. The neutral court matchup would have to be against a big name school that travels well, and the home-and-home should be against a good program that's had recent success like Florida, Texas, Gonzaga, etc. -
It's all about creating exposure for B1G schools amongst some of the richest zip codes in the country.

Troy hurting us right now. -
  So glad, Purdue fans were starting to think they were awesome too.

Kentucky just isn't very impressive. If they played in a tougher conference they'd probably have 3 or 4 conference losses.

Anthony Lee only getting 14 minutes per game, averaging 6 and 2 on the year. Good thing you went to OSU so Matta can get you to the league with those numbers.

IU will definitely get beat by Rutgers

Haha, I've never seen someone quote themselves before, and twice in the same thread.. But he's right. We'll probably get beat by Rutgers. -
Hoosier Transfers and Recruiting Targets

Yep, Crean was actually on Dakich's show over the summer and he said his biggest miss of his career at IU was Gary Harris. His biggest regret was not offering Kellen Dunham. Ugh, that 2012 class could have been so solid. -

Useless to think about this, but imagine if our 2012 class was: Yogi Ferrell Kellen Dunham Gary Harris Hanner Perea Instead of: Yogi Ferrell Ron Patterson Jeremy Hollowell Peter Jurkin Hanner Perea The sad thing about our 2012 class is that Perea is one of our best players in it. The hypothetical 2012 class I posted would have him as the worst player on it. -
So who's going to be the new Coach next year?
AKHoosier replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
May not be popular but I don't care: I'd take Bruce Pearl in a heartbeat. Baggage aside, he's an amazing coach. The guy just wins. He's great from a PR perspective, is very energetic, and he understands a little about Indiana basketball from his time down south. His teams always play hard, and he's done very well as a recruiter at programs like Tennessee and Auburn. If we miss on Brad and Hoiberg, he'd be my next choice if a change is made.
