Non Hoosier CBB hoops info
AKHoosier replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
To be fair, he was practicing against Purdue players. So of course he's going to look like one of their best players. And Purdue will not be top 10. Not even close. -
(2016) SF Mario Kegler to Miss State
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Looks like MSU is trying to put together a frontcourt of Kegler, Davis, and Herard with Kegler playing the 3. God I hope that doesn't happen, what a kick to the guts it would be to lose 2 of our top targets to freaking Mississippi State. Here's hoping Herard ends up going to Kansas. -
Prepare early for a meltdown!!!

Except if that person was a Mississippi native to begin with who wants to be part of the momentum of a turnaround there. Still plenty of time for him to think it over. Remember, they do have a number of guards already committed, and there's always a chance Newman doesn't go pro after his freshman season. -

Goodness, chill out. MSU may in fact get Kegler, that really wouldn't be a shock. Davis is a different story though. They got in on him late, and have virtually no real connection to him. I'm a lot more confident in Davis than any of the other guys we're currently after, but don't freak out over a couple crystal ball picks. More will follow, trust me. If we get Davis and Brown to go with Curtis Jones, that's still a great haul. Then go all in for Thon or Rawle, and we won't remember who Mario Kegler even was. -
Purdue targeting him as well. Has he even visited there?

(2016) SG Bruce Brown to Miami
AKHoosier replied to Walking Boot of Doom's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Not really worried about Purdue here, you never know though. They got in on him late, and they're not exactly a guard friendly school. Of course maybe that means there's more playing time there. I just hope he decides soon though. -
(2016) SF Mario Kegler to Miss State
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Yep, I've seen interviews where he even classifies himself as a guard, and I know Maryland is selling him on being a 2/3. The problem is UMD has the bigs on their roster to assure him of being that. We don't. If we land him, it'll be because we will have landed Davis by then, or somehow convinced him he won't have to guard 4s or 5s in the B1G. -
Really? That's the only reasonable possible explanation you can think of?
-
He's ranked in the Top 150 and is a 6'4" guard. We'll have to continue to evaluate his game as his high school season rolls on, but those are two good places to start.

No idea, I'm not a member so that's why I posted it here to see if anyone knew anything. I suppose something will leak tomorrow or this weekend, if there is anything.
-
Looks like there may be something buzzing over on peegs regarding Davis. Hope it's good news, who knows though.
-
I think he's trolling fans and doesn't want his college choice to be so obvious.
-
I'll pay for it if he wants to commit.

(2016) SF Mario Kegler to Miss State

Oh I agree, especially when we already have Thomas Bryant. You never know though, we can't act like Colin Hartman playing center won't hurt us in recruiting at least once. Who knows though. -
(2016) SF Mario Kegler to Miss State

After reading a premium article on another site that shall remain nameless, I don't feel that great anymore about our chances as I once did. His guardian made a point to express how Mario is concerned about not being able to "play his position" in college and have to play as the big man. Maryland is telling him he would play the 2/3, which is what he says his natural positions are. Everyone thinks they're a guard nowadays. He said with 5 guys on Maryland's roster that are over 6'10" and can all play, there wouldn't be any chance of having to be the big man. I know we're selling him on being a replacement for Troy, but I'm sure coaches are in his ear telling him there's a chance he'll have to guard the opposing center if he played for us. Don't get me wrong, I definitely think we'll be in this until the end, but Maryland will be awfully tough to beat. Hopefully he gets absolutely wowed this weekend, and we also get De'Ron Davis soon too. -
(2016) SG Bruce Brown to Miami
AKHoosier replied to Walking Boot of Doom's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Boom! That's always a good sign, I believe she's following De'Ron Davis as well. -
If we can fend off Howland and Mississippi State, haha. Man I want Davis just as bad as Brown. We get those two, just call it a class unless Rawle or Thon want to come aboard. We'll figure out the numbers later.

DeRon Davis was at Mississippi State this weekend also with Kegler. Hopefully not too good of an impression was made. I mean come on, it's a football school. -
(2016) SF Miles Bridges to MSU
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Tom Izzo has never really needed 5 star blue chip guys to be good, so there's no need for panic. As BG said, our current class combined with Bruce Brown, Kegler, and Davis is more than capable of competing with anyone in our conference. -

Everyone outside of Kentucky anyway, they think they're getting everyone. -
Dang, kind of deflating to keep checking the boards in hopes of news of a commitment, but alas it's not to be yet. Looks like he'll go through the process of taking all his visits and will probably decide sometime in the early signing period I imagine. Hopefully the visit went well.
-
Meh, Noah Vonleh also had official visits set up to Ohio State and Syracuse, but committed to us on his first visit. It's not at all uncommon to commit despite having more official visits upcoming.
-
Eric Bossi says we are still the team to beat, echoing what he said he heard all summer. I'll be checking the boards all weekend in hopes of some good news.
-
I immediately went to weather.com to check Bloomington's forecast this weekend, and it's supposed to 80 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. Plenty of chances to see IU's finest assets this weekend :D

I assume in a positive way? Not sure if he is an Adidas kid or not...
