I know this is the common belief, but high profile schools like IU don't make a change unless they have a pretty good idea of the caliber of coach they will get if the job becomes available. The only way to get a "pretty good idea" is by reaching out through back channels to the back channels and third parties of the guy(s) they want to hire. This way it gives the desired coach a chance to say "I have not been contacted by Indiana" which is true, but in reality their agents and representatives HAVE been contacted.

Meh, no thanks. Look at their schedule, not all that impressive.
-
Jaquan Lyle doesn't look impressive at all. OSU should be better than they currently are, they are loaded with 5 and 4 star players. I know they're young, but still.
-
I really don't have a problem with court storming, except when it's done against an unranked team and you're in the top 5. Haha wow Iowa State.
-
Something I'm not sure that has been brought up lately is the chance one of our players gets in some trouble between now and the end of the season. When was the last time we did not have an incident over the course of a season? I obviously hope this doesn't happen, but man oh man so help him if one of our guys get caught with weed or a DUI. The seat may get even hotter if that's even possible. I feel like it's been forever since we've gone an entire season without a slip-up like this.

Hold that thought, because it looks like we'll get even more. I didn't think all 14 B1G schools split the revenue equally, so a quick Google search turned up an article with the below information: Maryland and Rutgers (and Nebraska) are not eligible for full shares of the Big Ten revenue pie. Nebraska is scheduled to receive its first full revenue share in 2018. Maryland and Rutgers will be eligible for a full share in 2021. http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/07/18/big-ten-revenue-shares-jump-to-32-million-per-school/

Seriously? I thought that was just for the big-time bowl games and revenue from the BTN. We still get a cut from Iowa, MSU, and OSU's major bowl game payouts then too. Not too shabby.

On a somewhat related note, the payout for the Pinstripe Bowl is listed at $2M. Our athletic department is about to get a big bump in revenue.

Analysis: It was just Morehead State but ...
AKHoosier replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
It was as much as we can ask for today, and we can only hope it translates to a win over Notre Dame. I just looked at the schedule, and I realize I'm getting way ahead of myself and a lot would have to happen, but it's feasible this team goes 19-4 through the end of January. Our most difficult opponent during that stretch is probably Notre Dame. If we hold serve at home and win easy road games at Nebraska and Rutgers, it's entirely possible. -

Offense played well, defense played better. That's all we can ask for today. Good win. -
Indiana vs Morehead State Game Thread

Ha good point, I hadn't realized that OG hasn't played yet. Maybe an injury in practice? Or Crean just wanting to leave starters in to put their foot on the gas and put away MSU early? -

Looking good -
Heck, I'd drive down just to see his first press conference once (if) he gets hired.
-
Yeah I get that but I don't know man, he knows basketball and he gets IU. He was a heck of a defensive player at IU, as was Fife. He'd be a very good assistant at IU, and let's not forget although he can be brash, he does things honorably and the right way. He's disciplined, definitely a Knight guy.
-
My dream staff would be Head coach - Brad Stevens Assistant - Dan Dakich Assistant - Dane Fife Assistant - Tim Buckley Strength and conditioning coordinator - Lyonel Anderson A sleeper candidate for assistant coach would be Greg Tonagel of Indiana Wesleyan. I can dream, right? Someone make this happen.
-
Exactly, and the wheels have already started to come off. All it's going to take is a loss to Notre Dame in Indy for everything to just completely fall apart before the conference season even starts.
-
There's just something wrong with the team. Captain Obvious I know, but we don't have any excuse to look this inept. This is not good.
-
Well, it may be bed time.
-
We just need to start jumping on people's back, then we'll get a foul call. I mean hey, Duke has been getting those, why can't we?
-
Referees making it painfully obvious why Duke hasn't lost a nonconference home game since 2000.

It's not as great as they'd lead you to believe though. My brother graduated from Purdue in 2011 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He said Purdue's engineering program is behind Illinois, Penn State, and Wisconsin in the Big 10 alone. Heck, he went to an engineering conference a few years in Skokie, Illinois (right outside of Chicago) full of engineers from all over the United States and Canada. Whenever he met people and told them what college he went to, he frequently had to explain what Purdue was. And this was at an ENGINEERING CONFERENCE. 2 hours away from Purdue's campus.

New Coach Salary And Criteria...$5 million?
AKHoosier replied to Feathery's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Sean Miller is obviously impressive and I would take him at first glance, but if you dig deeper, his lack of deep tournament success is going to cause some to be less than enthusiastic about him. He has a very good Arizona team this year as well, but if they get bounced in the Sweet 16 again this year, do we really want to put him in the top tier of candidates? He's been to the Elite 8 four times, but never to a Final 4. Fwiw I still say he would be a resounding YES, but I could see some people having reservations about someone who has never taken a team further than an Elite 8 despite having loads of talent. -
New Coach Salary And Criteria...$5 million?
AKHoosier replied to Feathery's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yep, plus most of his roster could theoretically be filled with kids within a 4 hour driving radius of Bloomington. -
That won't matter at all to a new coach. Half of those kids aren't even on the team anymore, and all but 1 or 2 will be gone after this year. I was only describing the state of the program in the eyes of a new coach, and how it's a lot different (better) than when the job was last available in 2008.
