Well anyone who doesn't support a move to NIKE based on human rights concerns had better not have an iPhone.  Apple is just as bad as anyone else in that regard.  Look up some of those work camps in China, there's a reason all those people are committing suicide just to spit out Apple products.   I really don't know if NIKE is still a huge violator of child labor or not, but we all know that during the 1980s and 90s, their brand was synonymous with it.  Maybe they're not that way anymore, I don't know.  If they aren't, I wouldn't be as opposed to a switch to them.

His averages are similar to what Zeisloft averaged at Illinois State before he came here.  We all wondered what some kid from a crappy conference who averaged like 6 ppg would be able to provide, but he proved to be a very valuable asset to the team.   I look at today's pickup as similar to Zeisloft last year.  We'll be pleasantly surprised with his performance and role on the team, and sometimes he'll save our ass.

Matur Maker is class of 2017, so Thon would have to stay until his junior season to be able to play with him if they went to the same college.   I don't see any way Thon stays more than 1 and a half years in college, assuming he starts this December.

He passed his drug test but was still kicked off the team.   I have to say, I don't agree with that.  I'm sure there are other factors that led to his dismissal, but I feel it may have been excessive to kick him off the team for having Devin Davis with weed inside his own apartment.

So now we'll have even less timeouts for Crean not to use?    Haha, in all seriousness I don't think the new rules will do anything but help IU as long as Crean is here.  We're an uptempo, fast-paced team.    The one thing I do worry about is the stricter emphasis on defensive fouls, which could put our post players in foul trouble a lot quicker.  Thomas Bryant is going to have to stay out of foul trouble.  If we don't get any 5th year post players, we could certainly suffer a few games in the event of early foul trouble.  I would love to see NCAA go to 6 fouls per player.

I would definitely take him at this point.  If we could get 10 minutes a game with him at the 5 and Holt or Troy at the 4, that wouldn't be too bad of a lineup with Yogi, Rob, and James in there too.   Plus he would only take up a scholarship for a year.

Hanner Perea is the biggest bust in IU basketball history I can remember.   So much hype.  I salivated like crazy watching those YouTube videos of him dunking everything in sight.    What a waste of potential.

  Nope.  Not buying it.   Devin Davis sat there and listened to Tom Crean's lecture on Halloween about being responsible and not making bad decisions.  He then chose to get intoxicated enough to the point where jumping into oncoming traffic seemed like a good idea.  And sat on what was almost his death bed for it.   6 months and 2 separate marijuana suspensions later, the one player who should understand rules are meant to be followed is Devin Davis.  Instead of listening to those rules, he decides to have drugs in the dorms.   Those are the facts, I'm not sure why you could even defend him anymore.   Devin Davis is a dumbass.  I'm sorry, but I call it like I see it.  I wish him luck when he ends up at Georgia State, but he doesn't get another chance here.

This actually sounds like a good idea.  So they are under the impression they'll get 5 current McDonald's All Americans?   I wonder who they are.  My guess is that Swanigan and Skal Labasierre are two of them.

I thought all along that Purdue made a lot of sense for him since he wants to play the 4.   Hammons and Haas will man the 5 freeing him up to think he's good enough to be a power forward.  He's a good player but molasses-like slow.  Purdue better hope they get a point guard.

There's also a pretty decent chance Skal Labasierre never plays a minute for UK, as multiple questions surround his eligibility.   If that story on him is true, I find it very hard to believe he'll be eligible this fall.  I guess his guardian created a school just for him called Reach Your Dream prep.  I don't know how that's even possible.

Not even 2 weeks ago Jerry Mayer said Thon was going overseas, so forgive me if I don't take his word as gospel.

I like Dukan.   Especially when he looked right at Tyus Jones and said "you're a b*tch" after that game changing flop in the championship game.  Good stuff.

Ah, well really any point guard will do.  I just think it'd be so beneficial to give a kid a full year to learn the ropes and practice against guys like Yogi, Blackmon, and Johnson every day.

If Yogi stays, how great would it be to land Hyron Edwards and redshirt him for 2015-2016?   Hyron could spend a year practicing against one of the best point guards in the country, which would allow him to really step his game up enough to take the reins in 2016.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but former Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen did the same thing after his junior year.  He signed a lease for the following school year but ended up leaving early for the NFL.   I know the timeline is a little different than college basketball, but still.

  What!?  That completely came out of nowhere.  I've never heard Arizona State mentioned at all for Thon.

So 4 pages of responses and I have yet to see this point brought up:   A fringe second-round pick holding a press conference seems dumb and unnecessary at first glance, but I think this is all about PR and marketing himself at this point for the 2016 NBA draft, which I can't fault him for at all.  His play on the court, such as leading us to a Final 4, is going to do more talking than anything that could be said at a press conference, but his "campaign" to get drafted higher kicks off with this press conference at Ruth's Chris.   More attention will naturally be drawn to him at the PC (albeit maybe minimally), but it does make sense for him to do this from a strictly PR standpoint.  It's all about getting your name out there even more.   So don't be so quick to rip him for something that could end up helping him.

  Wait, is it now a foregone conclusion he won't join a school until December now?  I thought he wouldn't really know his status until June when exams were over for his prep school

^^Bingo.   We never had a chance with Swanigan, and we can't fault Crean for not landing him.  I'm happy we didn't waste any time recruiting him.   He's really not much of a fit for our style of play anyways.  It sucks we'll have to play against him though, probably for 4 years as he doesn't look like a kid who will be in the NBA after 1 or 2 years.

Thank God we got Bryant, there are going to be an awful lot of good bigs in the B1G next season.  Diamond Stone, Caleb Swanigan, Hammons, Haas, OSU has a few, Deyonta Davis, and Woodbury.   I hope Hanner and Holt are ready to put in the work this summer.  Conference will be very tough next year.
