Michigan? I'm not seeing it. Yeah upper half maybe, but they won't be contenders at all. They're way behind IU, Wisconsin, Purdue, and Michigan State.

Supposedly his #1 concern is exposure and ability to win next year, which is why he's leaving Nebraska. Of that list of finalists, I'd say us and UVA are the only schools who would be able to give him what he wants.

McSwain not arriving until Aug 18
AKHoosier replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yeah I am concerned about this, especially because he is so relatively new to basketball. I think he started playing organized bball his junior year of high school, went the juco route for 2 years (I think), and now is stepping into a B1G program. I'm not sure how much he was going to produce this year anyway, but it sure would have been nice to have him on campus already so he could start to get himself ready to go in the gym and weight room. -
I would take Jackson and Wilkes personally, I think they're the best fits for us.

I'm so excited to see this past year's freshman make the typical sophomore jump. If all 3 of these guys make a significant leap, then WHOA.

(2017) SF Michael Porter Jr. to Washington
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Dang, I really hope we didn't pay more attention to Michael Porter in the first place because some of the in-state 2017 kids weren't feeling the vibe as strongly. Just gotta go harder after Wilkes/Jackson/Williams now. -
(2017) SF Jordan Tucker- OV 11/30/16
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I'd be willing to bet a lot of money Priller is on track to graduate in 3 years, and transfers somewhere closer to Texas for his senior season. I can't see him taking up a scholarship all 4 years. -
B1G Media Rights with Fox Network

I hope we don't have any basketball games on FS1, I don't have that channel. -
Dang, I wanted to root for him, but it's like he keeps giving me reasons not to.

In what world is any of this true? Cody was a likely first-rounder in the 2012 draft, with maybe an outside chance at a lottery pick. Certainly not a lock. In the 2013 draft after his sophomore season, he was considered a lock for the lottery, but most believe it was a reach to select him #4 overall.

IU Basketball: Who is leaving? Who is staying?
AKHoosier replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I still think Troy leaves. He sounded concerned when he said there aren't many seniors drafted in the first round. If he has his degree in May, there wouldn't be much of a reason for him to return other than to chase a national championship, which he probably cares about less than his future in the NBA (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). He seems like he'll be the type of guy who will ask 100 scouts if they think he should come back or go pro. Even though 99 of them will tell him to return, he'll listen to that 1 guy telling him to go pro. Sometimes you only take the advice you want to hear. -
I just feel bad for players sometimes. The people they take advice from set them up for failure.

IU Basketball: Who is leaving? Who is staying?
AKHoosier replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think Troy is definitely gone. He'll have his degree, and probably knows his minutes could go down next year because of the emergence of OG and addition of DeRon Davis. -
(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
There's a post on TOS national board that he is a Duke lean, been a fan all his life. He does like IU too though. Hopefully this past season, and a good 2016 - 2017 season combined with a solid 2017 class (Wilkes, Williams, Jackson) will be enough to keep him in-state. -
IU Basketball: Who is leaving? Who is staying?

I think it's highly unlikely Newkirk isn't among the top 9 in our rotation. He'd be a top 4 guard though, so maybe that's all that really matters. -
Hoosier Transfers and Recruiting Targets
AKHoosier replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Plus it'd be funny to see them take a guy we kicked out because of character issues. They ripped us for having an out of control situation off the court, now they're going to take the guy that was majorly responsible for that? Sure, let them take him. -
BREAKING: Thomas Bryant returning to Indiana!
AKHoosier replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Such big news. I love the versatility of our front court next year. With Bryant back, I wouldn't mind seeing us add Spike Albrecht now, as I'm not really sure we need to find a 5th year big anymore. However, I'd be fine trying to find a freshman or transfer big man to be able to practice against Bryant and Davis every day, in preparation to take the reins whenever Bryant does leave. -
IU Basketball: Who is leaving? Who is staying?
AKHoosier replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I can't even describe how badly I want a front line next year of Thomas Bryant, DeRon Davis, Juwan Morgan, and O.G. to go along with hopefully a grad transfer 4/5. That'd probably be the best frontcourt I can remember for IU in my lifetime, although I'm only 30. Ugh, please happen! -
IU Basketball: Who is leaving? Who is staying?
AKHoosier replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I remember thinking that about Vonleh too, and we all know how that turned out. I got my hopes up that we really weren't recruiting any other bigs in the 2014 class, so that must have meant he was coming back. -
Wow, unbelievable ending. So glad Nova won, I love parity and seeing cheaters lose.

Elephant in the room: Anyone hearing anything on the Crean to Vanderbilt rumor? I checked a Vandy board, and it seems they say there's mutual interest. It's been floating out there for a day or so now. It's premium information, but there's a 5 page thread on peegs regarding it, as well as the Vandy Rivals site. Also, there's a thread on it on Kentucky's Rivals site too. But the Vandy site is what caught my eye, as they say there's a nugget from a B1G source regarding mutual interest from a coach in the B1G. Who knows, will probably amount to nothing by this time tomorrow.

Weird. Straight to Europe?

IU Basketball: Who is leaving? Who is staying?
AKHoosier replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Some of the bone-headed plays he made to spark the other team too were just as important. Some of Troy's bad, out of control shots were effectively turnovers. OG can be that catalyst this year, while also playing better defense and taking better shots. -
(2016) Arizona Transfer PG Justin Simon
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Hopefully we at least get a visit, although taking him would probably put Paul Scruggs out of the equation for 2017, right? We'll still have a lot of guards in 2017, as Blackmon is the only one who may go pro after 2016 - 2017. That would leave Robert Johnson, Devonte Green, Josh Newkirk, and Curtis Jones as the primary guards in 2017. Adding Simon to the mix would certainly be nice. -
Oh no worries. I wasn't trying to start anything, just wanted to see if one of us had information to share on this, because it does look like it's still out there. I even checked another Vandy site and evidently the mod for their Rivals site thinks the new coach is going to be either Greg Marshall or Tom Crean. Seems like they're really targeting Marshall first.
