I'm not trying to be confrontational either because I think we're generally on the same page. However, you're contradicting yourself a ton here. You're saying our coach has proven he can't win a national championship (which is absurd). Then theoretically, we should only consider Coach K., Roy Williams, Rick Pitino, John Calipari, Kevin Ollie, Billy Donovan, or Jay Wright, correct? Because those are the only guys who have proven they can win one. If you want to make the argument that we need to get rid of him because he's proven he isn't capable of delivering a national title, then you have to eliminate guys like Archie Miller, Chris Holtmann, Andy Enfield, Brad Stevens, and Gregg Marshall because they've all "proven" they can't deliver one either. If nothing in Crean's career makes you think that reaching a Final 4 will happen, then why do you choose to ignore direct evidence that he can reach a Final 4? I don't care if it was with Wade or not, he did get there and you can spin it any way you want to. Look, I've already said I don't think we'll be consistently elite under Crean, but to get rid of him because "he's proven he can't win a national championship" is ridiculous. You don't know the future and neither do I. It's entirely possible we get good matchups and have a deep run into the tournament this year.

Did you really find it necessary to ask that question? I think it's fairly obvious that I pretty much don't, given the last paragraph in my post. The thing is though, I don't think Crean is a bad coach. Most people, some even on this board, want to point to guys like Tony Bennett and Bo Ryan as great coaches who teach solid fundamentals, but they all seem to forget that before Bo's final 2 years, he was always known as a coach who could never perform in the tournament either. His teams were always getting bounced early by double-digit seeds, and then all of a sudden he's a great coach after he goes to 2 consecutive Final Fours. Same with Tony Bennett, who seems to under-perform in the tournament pretty regularly. You and me both can think he's not capable of getting to a Final 4 at IU or winning a national championship, but we don't know that. The only thing for certain is that we still have 18 games left to be played, and it's possible we could go 14-4 the rest of the way, get a good seed in the NCAA tournament, and end up getting favorable match-ups and getting hot at the right time sending us to a Final 4.

I'd say you can have plenty of gripes with Crean, but this post is pretty far off base. We are not average right now. We are above average. If an "average" program can win their conference outright twice in 4 years and go to 3 Sweet 16s, then how many programs out there are average? You say "we'll win games and lose some that we shouldn't have." Well, I'd say that's the case with every team and program in the entire country. The fact is Tom Crean has beaten more top 25 teams in the past 6 years than anyone outside of Bill Self. That's nothing to hang a banner for, yet it's nothing to sneeze at either. Just off the top of my head without doing research, Kansas lost to TCU recently. Kentucky has lost to Auburn, LSU, and Tennessee. North Carolina lost to Northern Iowa. This stuff happens all the time in a 31-game regular season. And oh yeah, 3 of our recent wins have been against Kansas, Kentucky, and North Carolina. But I agree with some of your premise though. IU will probably never be elite under Tom Crean. We'll be above average, like we are now, but we won't be joining Duke, Kentucky, UNC, Kansas at the top under him. If you look at his record before he even came to IU, his teams averaged 21-11 in the regular season. I'd say we're pretty much headed there this year. Still too early to throw in the towel on this year though, although a home loss to a 6-6 Nebraska team is certainly not a good sign.

I agree with an awful lot of posts in here, however it's just too early to judge the season or to start calling for the coach's head. We could very well win another share of the B1G at 13-5 and get to the Elite 8 depending on matchups, you just never know. However, the wheels could suddenly start to fall off if we experience a 3-game losing streak among Nebraska-Louisville-Wisconsin. That would be bad.

If they do make a change, we just have to hope and pray that Brad Stevens and his wife are unhappy living in Boston. Money is a huge deal, but it never has been the biggest deal with Stevens. Because honestly if a change is made and Stevens turns us down, I honestly don't know who I'd pick if I had the ability to choose.

This is just not good. No excuses for a loss like this.

I don't think I've ever seen so many blocks against us in one game.

What a joke with that quote. Naming some of the worst acts known to man in attempt to make tripping seem less harmful. K, your player is a selfish, spoiled brat who throws tantrums and takes anger out on other players. Something tells me Grayson Allen is the kind of kid who will poke at you all game long, get under your skin, and the minute you snap he'll run and hide behind his bigger friends. He's a *****.

IUBB Hosts Austin Peay - 12/22 @ 7:00 ET

So I read on another site that Juwan Morgan hurt his ankle, and could be out against Nebraska. Hope it's not that serious. -
Up to and including the first half of the next game. That'll teach him his lesson!

Well if this is true, things can start to go downhill pretty quickly if we get beat NYE by Louisville. A loss to Butler, drinking incident, then a loss to Louisville in just a few weeks' time could result in some unsettling feelings around the program. Hope not though. However, I just want to add that this team seems nothing like the 2013-2014 disaster though.

This may be an unfair criticism, but does anyone else remember early in the fall when the B1G Network televised an hour of our practice? I remember watching that and being excited, but couldn't help but think we were spending way too much time shooting 3's. We seriously spent like half of that hour doing drills where guys would do a weave then shoot a 3. Maybe I'm reading too much into that, but it seemed like we didn't spend too much time practicing our half-court offense, and it shows during our losses when the other team slows it down on us. -

It's so frustrating to not only play down to the level of competition, but also not be able to exploit a size advantage down low. -

This is why it's always tough to trust a team that can light it up from 3. Because they can just as easily go ice cold from 3. -

This is why I thought it was ridiculous when people were predicting we'd win by double digits. There's no way. The in-state teams almost always bring more fight than we do. -
(2018) G/F Damezi Anderson to Detroit Mercy
AKHoosier replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
No way, I had no idea guys from St. Joe HS went to IU, learn something new every day. And yes, I'm 31 but I'm sure my parents have heard of them, my mom graduated from St. Joe in '76. I went to Marian and then to Mishawaka. I thought we may have had a chance at Demetrius Jackson for a while, but Yogi pretty much scared any potential PGs away for a while.
