(2017) SF Kris Wilkes to UCLA
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I sure hope you heard correctly. Wilkes going anywhere else other than IU would sting more than losing anyone I could remember. -
(2017) PG Paul Scruggs to Xavier
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Eh, maybe but that stuff is always overrated. When guys go on OVs they make friends, then they follow them on social media. I don't put much stock into who recruits follow anymore. -
2017 updated recruit wish list
AKHoosier replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
^^I'd definitely take that class as long as one of those "two others" includes a big guy. -
(2017) PG Paul Scruggs to Xavier
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Is Travis Steele still on the staff at Xavier? If so, that would certainly explain the negative recruiting at X. -
(2017) PG Tremont Waters to LSU
AKHoosier replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Hopefully he puts a lot of stock into who won that battle. -
(2017) PG Paul Scruggs to Xavier

Our chances at Langford should go up if we miss on Scruggs. -
2016 July Evaluation Period
AKHoosier replied to hoosierpap's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Thanks for doing these run-downs. I haven't been paying that much attention to recruiting this summer, so this has been helpful in getting brought up to speed. From what I know about the 2017 out-of-state kids, Bamba is #1 on my wish list. It sounds like he's going to put a ton of stock into how teams do this year, and in his own words, he'll watch college basketball with a microscopic lens this season. My hope is we get off a fast start and win at least 2 of 3 against Kansas, UNC, and Louisville, Thomas Bryant is averaging 16 and 10 while looking like a beast and shooting up draft boards, and we're ranked top 10 before the start of conference play. That'll be huge for recruiting Bamba and the local guys. -
(2017) SF Michael Porter Jr. to Washington

I hate Matta, but I hate him a little less after reading that. That's pretty awesome, although I find it pretty hard to believe Jaquan Lyle wasn't one of the problems, and is a solution.

2016 July Evaluation Period
AKHoosier replied to hoosierpap's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
As long as the '17 in-state guys don't commit until the Spring, I'm not worried at all. It seems they're all just going through the recruiting process. Yeah they may be leaning out of state for now, but we have the opportunity to showcase ourselves really well this season if we take advantage of it. We should have a really good year, and if we come out and trash North Carolina at home, beat Louisville on a neutral floor, and take care of Kansas to start the season, and contend for another B1G championship, IU will look a lot better to recruits whether they are from Indiana or elsewhere. -
(2017) SF/PF Malik Williams to UofL
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
So over the past 14 days you went from saying "word is he wants MSU" to "trending Louisville." Is it safe to say he's just playing out the process and there's a long way to go? Regardless, the article on TOS doesn't sound too promising, as we were not even mentioned as one of 7 schools recruiting him. Out of the 4 in-state kids for 2017, I have the least confidence in getting Williams. -
Michigan? I'm not seeing it. Yeah upper half maybe, but they won't be contenders at all. They're way behind IU, Wisconsin, Purdue, and Michigan State.
-
Supposedly his #1 concern is exposure and ability to win next year, which is why he's leaving Nebraska. Of that list of finalists, I'd say us and UVA are the only schools who would be able to give him what he wants.

McSwain not arriving until Aug 18
AKHoosier replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yeah I am concerned about this, especially because he is so relatively new to basketball. I think he started playing organized bball his junior year of high school, went the juco route for 2 years (I think), and now is stepping into a B1G program. I'm not sure how much he was going to produce this year anyway, but it sure would have been nice to have him on campus already so he could start to get himself ready to go in the gym and weight room. -
I would take Jackson and Wilkes personally, I think they're the best fits for us.

I'm so excited to see this past year's freshman make the typical sophomore jump. If all 3 of these guys make a significant leap, then WHOA.

(2017) SF Michael Porter Jr. to Washington
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Dang, I really hope we didn't pay more attention to Michael Porter in the first place because some of the in-state 2017 kids weren't feeling the vibe as strongly. Just gotta go harder after Wilkes/Jackson/Williams now. -
(2017) SF Jordan Tucker- OV 11/30/16
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I'd be willing to bet a lot of money Priller is on track to graduate in 3 years, and transfers somewhere closer to Texas for his senior season. I can't see him taking up a scholarship all 4 years. -
B1G Media Rights with Fox Network
AKHoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I hope we don't have any basketball games on FS1, I don't have that channel. -
Dang, I wanted to root for him, but it's like he keeps giving me reasons not to.
-
In what world is any of this true? Cody was a likely first-rounder in the 2012 draft, with maybe an outside chance at a lottery pick. Certainly not a lock. In the 2013 draft after his sophomore season, he was considered a lock for the lottery, but most believe it was a reach to select him #4 overall.

IU Basketball: Who is leaving? Who is staying?
AKHoosier replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I still think Troy leaves. He sounded concerned when he said there aren't many seniors drafted in the first round. If he has his degree in May, there wouldn't be much of a reason for him to return other than to chase a national championship, which he probably cares about less than his future in the NBA (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). He seems like he'll be the type of guy who will ask 100 scouts if they think he should come back or go pro. Even though 99 of them will tell him to return, he'll listen to that 1 guy telling him to go pro. Sometimes you only take the advice you want to hear. -
I just feel bad for players sometimes. The people they take advice from set them up for failure.

IU Basketball: Who is leaving? Who is staying?
AKHoosier replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think Troy is definitely gone. He'll have his degree, and probably knows his minutes could go down next year because of the emergence of OG and addition of DeRon Davis. -
(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
There's a post on TOS national board that he is a Duke lean, been a fan all his life. He does like IU too though. Hopefully this past season, and a good 2016 - 2017 season combined with a solid 2017 class (Wilkes, Williams, Jackson) will be enough to keep him in-state.
