Thank God I'm drunk as f$*@ right now, or I'd be really upset. -

We're trying to scrap and claw our way to a win, and that's just not our game. -

This is why it's always tough to trust a team that can light it up from 3. Because they can just as easily go ice cold from 3. -

Newkirk is giving us very little right now. -

This is why I thought it was ridiculous when people were predicting we'd win by double digits. There's no way. The in-state teams almost always bring more fight than we do. -
(2018) G/F Damezi Anderson to Detroit Mercy
AKHoosier replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
No way, I had no idea guys from St. Joe HS went to IU, learn something new every day. And yes, I'm 31 but I'm sure my parents have heard of them, my mom graduated from St. Joe in '76. I went to Marian and then to Mishawaka. I thought we may have had a chance at Demetrius Jackson for a while, but Yogi pretty much scared any potential PGs away for a while. -
(2018) G/F Damezi Anderson to Detroit Mercy
AKHoosier replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Man, between Anderson and Musa Jallow, we certainly have some high-scoring wing options in-state for the 2018 class. I'd love to see either at IU, however I'm more partial to Anderson since I'm from South Bend and can't remember a player from there ever going to IU. That'd be sweet. -
(2017) SF Zach Gunn to Ball State

I remember watching him as a freshman when he was widely considered one of the best class of 2017 kids in the state, which has obviously cooled down a bit since then. He's still a good player, looks to be a lot better built and less doughy than when he was a freshman. If Jordan Tucker says no, I would definitely take this kid as a backup plan. The only concerning thing is that this class pretty much consists of backup plans. That's not the worst thing in the world as long as it's a complementary class, however the pressure is on to land some studs in 2018. -
(2017) PF Clifton Moore Jr. to IU

OK after watching that video, I'm ecstatic about him and his future here. If you told me he was a top 50 recruit and then I watched the video, I would have believed you. -

It will make me feel even more optimistic about him if he averages a double-double for his team this season. Combined with his size, his eye-popping stats will really create a true diamond-in-the-rough type of feel to his recruitment. Since Durham and Smith look like they're tearing it up for their respective teams, having all 3 of our recruits stuff the stat sheet has them trending up, in my mind at least. -
(2018) SF Musa Jallow to Ohio State
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Totally. Remember when we spent all that time on Raymond Spaulding of Louisville, only to see him pop for UL. Hopefully this is the inverse of that. We shouldn't ever lose a Bloomington native that we're targeting (other than he who shall remain nameless). -
Wow, UM lighting it up and has taken the lead 44-39. Hoping they can pull it off today.
-
Looks like definitely a good player. If he's a culture fit and interested, I would hope we take a look at him. Sucks he'd have to sit out next year though.

(2017) SF Jordan Tucker- OV 11/30/16
AKHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Good, man I really hope we land him. High 4* and top 100 recruits are what we should be primarily focused on. At this point, I trust Crean's development of players who buy into our program of player development more than I trust Crean's ability to recruit top-10 or top-15 out-of-state players. -
This pretty much means that B1G teams will give us hell every night because they'll know we're their best chance at a marquee win that will boost their tournament hopes or seeding position. Huge target on our backs this year when conference play opens up.
-
You're allowed one "wtf loss" per year in college basketball if you're trying to compete for a 1 seed. As long as we don't go dropping games at Rutgers or at home to Penn State, I can live with the IPFW loss. It's not going to hurt us that much.

SEMO vs IU - 12/4 - 4:00 ET
AKHoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I know. Some players are so fluid in their movements it's truly a sight to see, but then there's guys like Bryant.. -
I wonder whose streak was longer, probably Kansas or Duke right? We have to be top 5 in terms of consecutive home wins, I think we're at 23 straight now, and none since the 2014-2015 season.
-
Yeah the Butler game worries me. It would make sense that we beat Kansas and North Carolina, yet lose to two in-state teams we're clearly more talented than. Holtmann is a good coach. I think they were picked to finish towards the bottom of the Big East, but they're ranked and undefeated so far. I really hope we have O.G. for this game.

To elaborate on your point here, I'm still not counting us out for some recruits we were essentially bridesmaids for. Michael Porter being one. It's highly likely Lorenzo Romar gets fired after this year, given that he's been there since 2002 and hasn't reached the NCAA tournament since the 2010-2011 season. This year will almost certainly be 6 seasons in a row that Washington doesn't get invited. Although Porter will probably end up wherever his dad gets offered a coaching job, I'll hold out hope that a successful season for IU will at least keep us on his radar if he's forced to evaluate his options at the end of the year. Another is Tremont Waters, but we'll just have to be patient here. I guess we're fortunate that some of the recruits who considered us ended up picking such sh!tty teams. Ha. -
Damn, this guy is really stuffing the stat sheet. Future is bright!
