you have to come up with 36 at large bids some how. A couple teams that r concidered on the bubble like Miami and Texas a & m r 2-6 against the top 50. (We r 4-8 against top 50)

Potential fallout from coaching change
Uspshoosier replied to HoosiersLoveBanners's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
no question I agree with everything you are saying. Looking at the big picture of our tourney results from the last 20 years it should show us we have a program problem not just a coaching problem and I would like it fixed soon so my 3 year old can enjoy iu basketball like I did when I was younger ( that's not too much to ask.lol) -

just making the tournament wouldn't be my indiana standard. From 1994-present look how many times we were bounced in the 1st or second round ( not pretty) -

early 90's for me also. We have had some good runs since just not as consistent. After our 1993 loss to Kansas in elite 8 our record in the tournament has not been pretty besides 2002 run -
If we don't do it now we never will, we will probably be top 25 next year and that will be good enough for some of our fans and admins who only care about having a little fun and rooting really hard, not winning, which is all I care about. Crean will be a genius for taking a program that almost a decade ago had sanctions and by some divine intervention got them in the top 25, a truly super human coaching effort. Glass will give him an extension and I will run out of fuel for this battle and will be beaten into a submission of mediocrity. Where have been the last 20 years beside the run in 2002 and a couple of sweet 16 appeances a couple years ago. Your fuel should of ran out a while ago. From the last 20 years of watching Iu, mediocrity is where we r at. If u would like to be depressed look at our tournament results since 1994. If I knew how to provide a link I would, if someone else could provide it. Thank you -
if the "buffalo's" of the world or countless others have a better overall resume then Iu then of course they should get in over us but if our overall resume is better then theirs in your opinion why shouldn't we get in? I've seen hartman play his butt off all year (should he not get a chance to play in a tourney) your opinion is we are not one of the best 36 at large teams but maybe the committee does, every bracket expert I have seen has us at a 11 or 12 seed even after the dumpster fire of the last month
-
depends on which brackettolists u follow. Fwiw alex bozich has a link where they rank the most accurate bracketolists over the years ( lunardi is 44th)

if u had a kid on the team would u want to lose? As a parent and Iu fan that would be a tough stance to take. Im sure you r an Iu fan and must be a hard decision to hope your teams loses. I'm glad I don't have to be in your shoes and root against a team I have loved for 37 years. Good luck with that
-
so as an Iu fan u would rather miss the tournament because u are worn out by the inconsistency. I'm sure the players will think to themselves since the fans r worn out lets lay an egg and miss out on a chance to play in the tourney (playing in the tourney is probably a goal of many college basketball players especially since they missed out last year) I'm just a die hard fan but getting "in" isn't about what we want it's about the kids that represent the program we would bleed for
-
law of averages we have lost 8 of 12 and (8 of 12 to northwestern) we should be due for a win.
-
i guess I'm mystified that their are Iu fans that would not want their team to make the tourney just because they r playing like crap. Making it might no mean anything to u as a fan because u think they r not going to win and it would be a waste of your time but the players that have worked their whole basketball career to make it probably wouldn't mind a shot at playing as a lower seed. Tournament appearances mean something to basketball programs ( that's why they keep track of # of appearances a program has) We have 37 appearances which is 7th all time. Why wouldn't u want a 38th?
We wouldn't beat a 5 or 6 seed. What good does avoiding the 1 or 2 seed when they aren't playing well enough to beat a 5 or 6[/quote what good does it do for them to watch the tournament on tv and not in? If we were to make it I would rather take a shot at beating a 5 or 6 and then a shot at a 3 or 4 instead of possibly playing a 1 or 2 in 2nd round. Them not playing good enough to beat of 5 or 6 wasn't my point or thought I just stated the route I would want them to get
-
in this tourney if we do end up getting in I would rather be a 11 or 12 seed instead of 7-10 seed the top 8 teams r way better then the rest of the field. Avoid those teams as long as possible
-
illinois st is there best win. They lost to Houston, Portland , Xavier by over 20 and Valpo by over 30. When they played anybody half way good they got destroyed. 0-1 against top 50 1-1 against top 100. Sos over 250 All this results in not making the field when u don't win your conference tournament
-
i guess it would depend if our overall resume was one the 36th best for an at large bid after the 32 automatic bids r taken
-
our all time record in this event is 10-17 I would say that this tournament has it out for the Hoosiers regardless of who is coaching them

Perry Ellis scores kansas last 10 Pts and gets taking out.....sound familiar

im sure they realize refs officiate in multiple conferences. Mike eads refs in the big ten and acc -
kenpom also has a florida team that is (12-13 ) #34

unlv's leading scorer is out for the next month i would assume they r going to lose more games. On Iu being a 6 seed I it looks like the mock committee thought it was the 21-24 best resume overall
-
Jon rothstein has a good write up on yogi on cbssports.com. If anyone knows how to provide a link please do
-
Unlv 14-10, 5-6 conference as a 11 seed not even playing in the first 4 is a bit of a stretch I would think even for a mock selection
-
we went 5-1 at the start of the big 10 with the same defense. I think we can all agree we wish our defense was better but this late in the season it is what it is (fav worthless saying)
-
i agree with u our d has to become average at best to advance or they will need a lot of luck. Not sure if it's same article but in 2012 bleacher report had an article saying the last 10 national champions were top 20 in both offensive and defensive efficiency Half way there lol.
