u asked for a 3 star that was a good defender I gave 1 If u would like to research back at his defense from day 1 go for it. I get your point not a lot of 3 star kids come in and contribute right away but in some cases it happens -

even before luke left there were offers to multiple bigs for 2014 but for whatever reason they went elsewhere (goodluck, humphries(stanford signee), robinson(6'8) and leron black to name a few and then offered plenty in the late signing period (jonah bolden, marvin Clarke, josh cunningham (not really a big but was one of the last top 100 available, and even yante maten. When all 7 say no I guess u r left scrambling desperately and have to take a chance on some lower prospects -

Crean Recruitment in the Midwest?
Uspshoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
all I know is at the time troy williams or noah(who was recruited as a 2014 pledge first) hadn't committed to Iu yet and they were 2013 commits it seems like enough time 2 recruit for for the 2014 class when they weren't finished in the 2013 class yet. Fwiw trey committed to kensucky on on nov 5 2013. 15 months after he decommitted from Iu which left him plenty of time to find a new home and Iu plenty of time to find someone else. In the end vonleh and lyles would of been the same for us ( one year rental, it just happens it came a year early for vonleh) -

Crean Recruitment in the Midwest?
Uspshoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
its not about being right Imo the long term plan was vonleh here 1 or maybe 2 years and Fischer recruited to be a 4 year guy to cover the programs butt if vonleh left early. I think the staff and fan base was stunned when he left after semester I know i was I thought he would of been a force down low in his sophomore and junior year. Since fischer left in early 2014 (3 and half years earlier then expected) they were scrambling after the 2014 season. To this day I feel fischer leaving the program was the biggest disappointment of last years team. Losing a top 100 guy who was supposed to be your big for seasons to come midseason leaves you with limited options in the late signing period when most of the top recruits had already committed. Now asking why the recruits we were after in that late period didnt want to come here (clark mich st , yante maten Georgia and cunningham Bradley ) which left us with priller and April that could be an interesting discussion. Awesome discussion old friend -

lyles decommitted after his freshman year in high school lol. They still had 3 years to fill his spot. Priller and april signed after we lost in BTT last year. They haven't even been in the program a year yet. A little different situation if u ask me -

not sure vonleh was an oh crap get. They had plenty of time to recruit him and beat out some heavy hitters to get him. Priller and april on the other hand were recruited(a total of maybe a month) after fischer and vonleh left. I'm sure I wasn't the only one here that when they committed say who (in the movie major league Indians fans voice) who the blank r these guys. I was on the site waiting for updates during vonlehs visit and was going crazy when he committed I just disagree he was a last second option -

Crean Recruitment in the Midwest?
Uspshoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
he might of been a 1 year rental but he was the rental the staff recruited hard after trey decided to decommit. When they first recruited noah after trey decommitted he was still a 2014 prospect it was during the process that he switched to 2013 ( which should of been a sign he was only here for 1 year) -
Where do we stack up in the B1G?
Uspshoosier replied to Dalton26's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
it would be hard for me to pick bo lower then 4th since he hasn't finished lower then 4th since he has been at Wisky For me until he finishes lower I will always put them top 4 in the B1G -

agree with most but april and priller were not backup plans to lyles decommiting, vonleh and fischer was the backup plans for that. I think priller and april was the backup plan for losing vonleh and fischer -
when I use the "20" years argument Ive said regardless of who was coaching we have been mediocre for the past 20 so that would include the present coach.
-
they may count the same to fans but to players and to coaches I'm sure it means more to win it outright compared to sharing it with 5 other teams
-
if the end result ends in Stevens coaching in Bloomington in a couple years instead of making a change now for a different coach then yes I will stick out a couple more years (20 and counting) of the current product for 20 plus years of Stevens. A gamble I'm willing to take but lucky for you it's not my call
-
im not saying he is good enough just pointing out Iu has bigger problems then replacing the coach
-
for a fan base that expects final fours and making deep runs in the tournament and in the last 20 some years we have had one Cinderella run in 2002 and after that our best result was 2 sweet 16 appearances back to back with a mediocre coach I would say that is exactly a program problem. Bad coaching hires are part of the overall program. Imo until the administration decides it wants to be a blue blood program again it dosent matter who is coaching
-
so u stated he wasn't trained what do u expect from someone with no training ( sarcasm) Seems to me he is on par with the coaches that have coached the last 20 years. Choking down the stretch, failing to make nit and losing in early rounds of ncaa tournament. I'm not saying I want him as coach but some people need to wake up and acknowledge we have a program problem not just a coaching problem
-
he won an outright big ten title without being trained?( I know credit to players only) Kudos for him I guess. Could u imagine if someone actually trained him to coach
