(2016) SG Grant Gelon commits to IU
Uspshoosier replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
just curious top 10 according to who? Some recruiting magazine on Twitter. How accurate was this recuiting publication in predictimg previous indiana classes. did we even recruit cline in 2015. gelon has a whole year to move up or down those rankings. At one point in time gordon was the highest ranked kid in 2016 well ahead of kids like Guy. Guy got better over the years and didn't feel the love. Virginia made him feel like there number 1 option and iu and others made him feel like a second option according to an article I read when he committed. Here's hopling the gelon works his tail off and gets better like other kids have shown and is a pleasant surprise signing -

depends what scouting service you follow rivals didn't have him in their top 100. There was a reason that the kansas vs whicita st game was heated. He committed to whicita st early and then blew up late in his senior year. Kansas offered late and tried to get him to decommit. Kansas never scheduleing them added fuel to fire as well -
Best players you have played against.

What are your expectations for the 2015-16 season?
Uspshoosier replied to darkwingj's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Each new season is a chance to improve or regress. In 2013 (17-15) year we were 47th ken Pom defense, last years defense regressed to in the 200's. Same coach and most of the same players. What was the difference in the 2 years that made such a huge gap? Losing will, evan, and noah. In my opinion some of it had to do with noah in the middle. I'm not saying they will be an elite defensive team next year but they will be closer in adjusted defense on par with the 2012, 2013, and 2014 teams instead of the 2015 team -
maybe if we played in a weaker conference I would agree with u but playing in the big 10 (which is a battle each game) no way would I want to play 4 or 5 of those teams in a single year maybe 2 at the most. The last time I remembering iu scheduling the agressive it backfired on mike Davis and we didn't make the tournament I respect you want a tougher schedule but it could come back to bite them if they lost to all of those teams. Last year in the non conference we played 5 ncaa tourney teams, in 2013 besides uconn we played at #4 syracuse and in 2012 besides North Carolina we played Georgetown
-
they played Louisville last year and played uconn in 2013 and played North Carolina in 2012. 3 of the 5 u mentioned we have played in the last 3 years. If u go back 4 years we have played 4 of the 5. Also of the list of teams u listed North Carolina (2) and Louisville (22) had a better sos then Iu (23) last year
-
IUs overall strength of schedule last year was 23 I would not call that weak. Now I agree ius out of conference should be better (97) but there were 5 teams in the top 25 sos that had a worst out of conference schedule (iowa state, Louisville to name a few)

UM Graduate Transfer Max Bielfeldt To IU
Uspshoosier replied to rebelhoosier848891's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
A little interesting useless fact about max is that his future brother-in-law is none other then Myers Leonard (illinois center a couple years ago who plays for the trailblazers) he is marrying max's sister (well done Meyers). My brother in law lives in meyers hometown and told me that yesterday -

Calipari a little nervous after missing out on all those top recruits?
Uspshoosier replied to ThompsonHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
i wonder if winning it all and going undefeated would of made a difference in some of the top players decisions. Hard to sell the platoon route when you don't produce a national title but if you win it all... I'm not sure what would happen then -
i wouldn't read to much into an aau head to head game on the 4th game in 3 nights
