@JonRothstein Not sure if I've ever seen a season where rankings are more meaningless in college basketball. Polls will fluctuate all season long. I was saying in another thread I didn't think there was much separation between teams in 15-40 range. Looks like Jon agrees

Indiana @ Nebraska - Post-game thread - 1/2
Uspshoosier replied to MartintheMopMan's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
the next 7 games are extremely important in my opinion for us to start building a resume. If you are a ken Pom guy 4 of the next 7 are against ken Pom top 62 teams and another agaisnt Illinois (122). The 2 Minnesota games are must wins to avoid a bad loss( and to gain another road win). If u are an rpi guy( not enough data for it to be used yet) , which the committee will use 5 of the next 7 games are against too 100 teams (Illinois in top 100) -

if that happen at least you would be watching a top 15 team -

in my opinion there is not that much separation from teams ranked from 15 through 40. Most teams that fall in this category have flaws they need to improve. If iu was to win the next 7 games like he pointed out then it would not be a stretch to see them in the top 15-25. For me I'm not concerned with what ranking is beside the name I'm more concerned about the team improving as the season moves on. The one ranking I do look forward to is the one at the end of the year when the committee shows their s-curve seed ranking ( ranking the teams in the tounament 1-68) -
@dandakich Coach Knight used to read letters/telegrams to us from people all over the state explaining that "These are the people we represent" 1/2 So assuming Coach Knight really felt that way I'm guessing he will be there.. I put this in this thread because I'm sure it's the most viewed

@JonRothstein Indiana has a combined 37 turnovers in its first two Big Ten games. Hoosiers need to take better care of the ball. Averaging 15 TPG. #iubb

Oklahoma and Iowa st in a good one. Oklahoma has been down most of the game but are up 4 with 4 minutes to play
-
they have beaten Vanderbilt (ken Pom 17), Florida (ken Pom 24), and Pittsburg ( ken Pom 26 on the road) but I agree they still suck

While I was at the forum tipoff classic at southport I went up and talked to Fran before the Fort Wayne Snyder game ( Fran was tracking Malik Williams) I wished him luck in the B1G and asked how he liked his team heading into the conference season. I told him I thought they were underrated compared to the rest of the upper tier teams, he smiled and said he loved the toughness of this years team and didn't mind being overlooked. His team showed toughness today. I will root for them a little more this year when we are not playing them just because he took took time out of his day to talk some college and high school basketball with a Hoosier fan

This is where Iowa lost to iowa st. They couldn't inbounds the ball in the last minute. Let's see if they have learned from their past mistakes
-
14th in ken Pom
-
Iowa is legit they beat Michigan st, should of beat Iowa st on the road ( had a 20 pt lead in 2nd half) and have came back from a 19 pt deficit to Purdue on the road and have a chance to close it out for a huge road win
-
Iowa up 6 with 2:20 to go and have the ball

i do not like the offense that iu runs like many others on here however the numbers as well as former coaches and professionals in the buisness praise the offense all the time. I would be willing to bet that every team in the top 10 in adjusted offensive efficiency have been favored by at least 20 points in at least 5 games this year Regardless of how weak our B1G schedule is we will still play over 10 games against top 100 competition. Last years team which is the same offense and players as this years team ( add Bryant for hanner) finished 9th in adjusted offensive efficiency and had the 23rd ranked sos( rpi sos which the committee uses). Again I'm with many on here and do not like the offense that is ran but i will not deny the numbers or opinion of ex coaches in the business.

Indiana at Rutgers - 13:00 EST on ESPN2 - Official Game Thread
Uspshoosier replied to MartintheMopMan's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
http://www.insidethehall.com/2015-2016-indiana-basketball-schedule/ The Rutgers game was on espn2, I think you mean Nebraska. If you look at this schedule breakdown 10 of our 18 big 10 games are on ESPN networks with the Maryland game tbd so it will be on ESPN or cbs and 2 others on cbs. So 13 of our 18 games in the B1G are not on BTN For comparison, Michigan state has 6 conference games on the BTN compared to our 5 games on the BTN -

Analysis: IU-Rutgers ... Well, that was interesting
Uspshoosier replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
i would add at Minnesota to that list as well. We will be favored in that game. Minnesota is 6-7 and have lost to South Dakota, South Dakota state, and Milwaukee all at home -

you or me might not like the offense that is ran but it's still top 10 in adjusted offensive efficiency(not saying I like it but numbers do) -

i know you are not being serious but no we are not the worst team in the B1G. All 3 of our losses are to ken Pom top 100 teams. Whereas Rutgers is Rutgers, Illinois has lost to north Florida and Chattanooga both at home Minnesota is 6-7 and has lost to South Dakota and South Dakota st both at home, Ohio st has lost to ut Arlington and Louisiana tech both at home, wisky has lost to western Illinois and Milwaukee both at home, Nebraska lost to Sanford at home and to creighton (who we beat), penn st lost to Radford at home and at Duquesne, it's probably a coin flip if we are better then Michigan and northwestern. Iowa, Maryland, Michigan state, and Purdue are all better then iu at this point in my opinion -

before the Purdue game it was in the 140's and after that game it dropped down into the 90's and now it shot back up into 140's. That's a lot of movement in between games
