in their defense 9 of the 14 losses are against rpi top 50 teams and 12 of those 14 are to teams in the rpi top 100. They have a sos of 13. They have 5 wins against rpi 51-102 teams (this is why they have a rpi of 90) While I say good teams find a way to win close games, bad teams find a way to lose them ( they should of beaten Virginia). Losing 11 of 12 can't be fun I would assume at some point they will fall into the +100 rpi category which will be will bad for iu

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/14755355/ncaa-tournament-thursday-friday-games-again-known-first-round A small change but something that has bothered me since they changed it. I'm glad they decided to change it back

virginia would be the team I would like to avoid until as late as possible

the year we won the big regular season if we would of lost to Michigan on that last day there would of been a 4 way tie for first that year (iu, Ohio st, Michigan, Michigan st). Since Michigan lost they ended up the 5th seed in the BTT ( wisky had the tie breaker for the 4th seed). I always found it interesting that they were a 5 seed in the BTT tourney compared to the 4 seed they ended up with in the big tourney. Like u said earlier standings can be misleading. I'm sure Michigan was just fine finishing 5th in the big 10 knowing where they eventually ended up. Michigan st will end up going further in the tourney then the teams that finish better then them

Watson jr just took over. Creighton up 13 and they are going to end up winning against top 5 Xavier. Hopefully that will improve their rpi and make our win against them look a little better
-
Creighton up 9 on Xavier with 4 to play.

North Carolina down 7 at Boston college with under 8 min to go. Roy collapsed during a timeout in 2nd half and had to be helped back to the locker room

still won. They had a stretch in 2nd half where they trailed. They were down 12 with under 4 to go and went on a big run. Good teams find a way to win close games. Jon agrees with me @jonrothstein Dayton comes back from 10 down in the second half to beat Duquesne by two. Flyers are special. The best team that no one is talking about.

all systems have their flaws. I wish they did use kenpom because we have 4 top 51 wins compared to 1 rpi top 50 win. Ken Pom has creighton as the 45th best team. Maybe they are but I don't think they are. Ken Pom has Vanderbilt at 36 with a 13-10 record. On the flip side Chattanooga has a rpi of 36th. Are they the 36th best team? Probably not they have 1 top 50 win (2 too 100) and 2 losses to rpi +150 teams. I personally use both and use my own eyeballs when reviewing teams. I'm a bracketology nerd

they have flaws like every team. I agree as of late watching them play they haven't been as strong but earlier in the year in the non conference they looked impressive winning the advocare invitational. I would put them in the same category as iu. If we played them on a neutral court I would expect us to win. The tournament this year is going to be a hell of ride even more then it usually is. No my opinion there will not be much difference between teams that will be seeded 4 through 12. We still have a chance to get a high seed or we have a chance to keep falling down the seed line. Whicita st is going to get a worst seed then they deserve I feel for the higher seed who draws them
-
until the committee comes out and say it is outdated and stop using it the ken Pom argument will not hold any water. While I might agree with you about ken Pom the committee still weighs heavily in favor of rpi. So when i review resumes I use the same as the committee will use. I wish they did use kenpom because as of today iu would have 4 top 51 wins which is better then their 1 top 50 rpi wins

dayton is a really good team this year. They have a rpi of 12 and 3 top 50 wins but have one terrible lose to lasalle rpi 248. While we should of beat penn st in my opinion it's not as bad of loss as many seem to think it was. Unlv (rpi 133) is by far our worst loss this year. Penn st was a true road game unlike Unlv which was on a neutral court and as of today penn st is a top 100 rpi team ( I'm sure their win against us push them into the top 100). Really this year there are no really great teams that have separated themselves like in years past. The margin of error is small for a lot of teams this year.

i guess last year would depend on your definition of being on the bubble. While a 10 seed should not be a desirable seed that is not being a bubble team. In the committee's true seed line there were 9 at large teams that were below iu. To me that isn't a team being on the bubble but I get your point we should be expect better. While this year you might think we are a soft 19 win team, as of today their resume translates to a seed line anywhere between 6-10 and that's with in your words a soft schedule. The middle of the pack teams pretty much look the same when reviewing their body of work. Iu has plenty of opportunities playing too teams at home that would separate them from other teams or they have plenty of opportunities to fall further down the true seed line and actually be a bubble team. Fwiw we have a top 25 rpi win this year in notre dame

while the level of the big 12 is really good, once the tournament starts anything can happen. The big 12 was really good last year as well but that didn't stop UAB and Georgia st from defeating two 3 seeded teams in Baylor or a lot of people's final 4 pick team Iowa st in the first round. I personally would rather play teams like Oklahoma or iowa st that will try to out score us and push the pace rather then a team like Virginia that in the last 4 games has returned to their elite level on defense
-
Buddy with a dagger 2-9 from 3 until that last shot Oklahoma up 3 with 2 sec to go. They have trailed the whole game

they lost on a neutral court in a tournament to notre dame ( they finished 6th with a 1-2 record) advocare invitational

http://www.hawkcentral.com/story/sports/college/iowa/basketball-men/2015/11/06/augustana-beats-iowa-hawkeyes-exhibition-game/75340664/ They are clearly the best team in the big 10 but I don't think they are untouchable if they happen to have an off night.

@jonrothstein Iowa State's Jameel McKay has been suspended indefinitely, per release. Huge blow for the Cyclones. They only went 7 deep anyway
