Probably see more of these losses in the B1G. I’ve said it a couple times that there is no clear cut team or teams that are above the rest. B1G will be fun to watch for the parity however in March I don’t see a team making a deep run

Thornton bailed them out with that terrible shot. Plenty of time to drive the ball. They just called a foul for Oregon when they drove

I liked the way Washington played this last week. I think they will win more games than predicted. I hope it’s Muss in the bottom 3

IU Indy up 41 over Detroit Mercy. Honestly can say first time I’ve ever wrote those words.
-
Oregon up 3 at Ohio st with 37 sec to go
-
Minny definitely isn’t making it which leaves 2 more teams that won’t make it. I would say they look like a team that will probably be fighting to not finish bottom 3.

Missed the ending. Had to run my youngest to basketball practice

Morehead St wins it UNCG/Chattanooga just starting on cbssports network

Bracketology and Team Resumes
Uspshoosier replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Probably but the NET doesn’t work that way. Penn St got blasted by Illinois and only dropped 3 or 4 spots. It would be nice to see how the NET works however the ncaa doesn’t give that info. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong I’m just telling you that how it works. Rpi was easy manipulated by teams and they were hoping the net wouldn’t be but with anything teams are figuring out how to. You smash your non conference buy games and steal a couple in the non conference against teams with pulse and your NET should be really good heading into conference play where you have wiggle room to take some losses. Ius problem is they haven’t figured out how to blow out terrible teams early so their NET is low 30s. Maryland and IUs resumes are not that far apart however Maryland is 23 and IU is in the 50s. Maryland just lost 2 road games in a row with one coming at Washington and they only lost 5 spots 18 to 23. -

They could still be in the 50s during that stretch. Losing on the road especially to top teams won’t drop teams much. Still have to win games however losing to NET top 30 teams isn’t going to drastically drop them out of the conversation. -

IU is already in the field for some bracketologist. For me they are in the first 4 out range. If they win 2 of the next 3 roads games they will in the field and probably in the first 4 bye range which will keep them out do the Last 4 in range -

I hear you however I thinks it’s past the point of winning will pick it back up. Even if he wins too many red flags for him being the coach past this year. I don’t run down through the list with winning on the court being the least important. I disagree with the season starting on Saturday. It started after the Bahamas. Call them cupcakes or bottom of the B1G however they still had to go out and win those games. I could argue I would want some of those conference games against the bottom sprinkled in between this 11 game Q1 stretch. My argument is that he should be gone regardless of how the rest of the season plays out. 15-5, 18-2, 5-15, 10-10 doesn’t matter to me how this seasons ends for me and this is just my opinion it’s time for a new leader to give life to the program. If I’m wrong and he somehow is back then I guess I will deal with that when the time comes -

Lunardi had IU as his last team in as of today. I personally have them still out but in the First 4 out. Road wins move the needle. 3 observations I’ve learned from the NET since it’s been put into place 1. If you play really bad teams you better beat them by 100 or you could still drop 2. If you are going to get blown out, do it on the road against good teams and you won’t be penalized that much 3. Winning road games moves the needle -

Moving forward I can save everyone a lot of time that will come to this thread to flex on a win or loss. IU has 13 Q1 and 2 Q2 opportunities left. With that many opportunities 1 single loss or win isn’t going to change the fact that they just have to win enough games. They could lose 5 straight but win out and be fine or they could win 5 straight and lose out and not be fine. I don’t see IU playing another Q3 game the rest of year. Reminder the bottom 3 B1G teams don’t make the B1G tourney so no team that plays in it will have to play Minny -

Compared to the SEC you are correct. As far as national title contenders you are correct however as far as the NET and number of teams that will make the tourney the B1G is in very strong position. 9 teams in the NET top 30 is pretty strong. It yeah IU definitely needs a change in leadership -

6 years 0 ncaa tourney wins. Some coaches might see the writing on the wall and get out before they have a chance to get fired. Very smart move by Smart to bail before he could get fired. Losing as a 3 seed to Abilene Christian would have probably would have been the nail in the coffin. Great move by him. Just like good move by Enfield to leave USC for SMU this past cycle -

Curious if the people who think he will be back next year have been to a game in Assembly Hall this year? There is more to it than wins and losses. The program has no juice right now. I would hope that Dolson sees this with his own eyes and regardless of if IU makes a 68 field tournament they move on because it’s definitely in the best interest of the program. When my wife and kids are pointing out that there is a different feel in the building you know the program is in a bad spot. Curious if others that go frequently feel the same bad vibes that I felt last night -
IUBB vs USC - Wednesday, 01.08.25 @ 7:00 on BTN
Uspshoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
He is bush league. While IU was shooting FTs at his end he would yell box out as loud as he could right when the shooter was shooting. He is lucky I didn’t run on the court and tell him to his face “USC lost” and then pose like Crean or the cop -

They made up for it in the second half when they let Claude push off while driving for a couple baskets. -

In the B1G or SEC a team can move the needle big time with a 3 or 4 game win streak against tournament quality teams. Teams will shoot to the seed list. A team could lose 4 straight and then get hot a stack 4Q1 wins in a row. Small example of this was before the Penn St win IU game was probably 8th team out on most bracketologist. After just 1 Q1 road win if you look at most they already have made their way onto most brackets First 4 out. Just imagine how far up a team would move up stacking 4Q1 games in row -
