Gotcha. But if Dolson was in frequent contact with Brad, it seems like those particulars (or close to it) would take place before an actual contract was on the table—and not be that far apart. Why mess around and not make him the highest paid coach right out of the gate? Brad’s a reasonable guy—I don’t see him making crazy counter demands to toy with IU. Again—who knows—but this version doesn’t square up.

Difficult to imagine that Dolson wouldn’t have come to Brad the first time with a spectacular package that Brad felt he couldn’t say no to. Especially if they had been in close communication for months. A million or so more for staff or rev share wouldn’t require beating the drum again with donors. Something about that angle doesn’t add up for me?

If Dolson was intimating to AAU contacts that Brad had reasonable interest then it was the best strategy imaginable to scare Brad off. I don’t think Dolson is that incompetent.
