No worries. I respect the passion on this board for sure. I think a lot of IU fans, not just on this site, diminish how challenging a job Crean and Glass have. The entire dept was a mess and since then the baseball coach and women's ball coach quit. Meanwhile a vocal faction calls for Crean and Wilson to be replaced. It's gotta be trying.
-
Not at all. It was in response to being told I was a kool aid drinker because I didn't comply with this board's overwhelming opinion. I have no problem with people wanting a change or disagreeing with me. I do try to avoid the mob mentality though.
-
Man, this is basketball not real life. It's not that deep. I'm just asking why you feel like the program wouldn't be starting from scratch with a new coach?
-
Thats an odd statement. You feel like assistant coaches and recruits who committed to Crean would stay to a great enough extent we wouldn't be starting over?
-
Oh probably not as connected as you if you are an insider. But I've attended or watched every game. I read peegs, ITH, btownbanners, hoosier scoop, crimson quarry, hoosier huddle and Osterman at the Star. My little brother is on campus and i listen to dakich a few times a week. I'd like to think I'm well learned. I'm not in the prediction business, it doesn't pay.

In what way?
-
Are you advocating to leave scholarships unfilled instead of oversigning? That would be an interesting approach.
-
Tom Crean is a lot of things but undisciplined is not one of them.
-
Thats quite a juggle to not oversign but be prepared for guys to possibly leave early for the NBA. Hindsight is 20/20 I suppose. Would you prefer the IU had another PG signed this year in case Yogi goes pro?
-
So you prefer the oversign? I thought that was a big gripe everyone pointed to with Crean.
-
I hate losing as much as the next guy. No doubt we could use some senior leadership to get us back to being #1 in the nation like we were a few years back. I think the NBA lottery picks have hurt more than anything. 3 in 2 years and any of those guys could of come back another year. Hard to fault Crean for sending guys to the show but it left the cupboard bare.
-
Thanks for the welcome. I'm an IU football fan as well and I often feel the same way about them. But coaching churn for the sake of churn never seems to pay off in the long run.
-
I made no claim he was perfect, which coach is? We have a need for frontcourt depth and that is what is coming in next year. It's far from am exact science and the other guys are trying too.
-
I believe the pieces are in place to succeed with the current regime. Continues to recruit at a high level but circumstances have not gone in IU's favor in the W/L column. Not unlike Kevin Wilson's last few years.
-
Is my opinion not welcome here?
-
I know there is a ton of groupthink going on. I just don't subscribe to the sky is falling theory. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
-
You have delusions of grandeur. 17000 paying customers is far from a Ghost town. How many of the high price seats were empty? You realize we lead the Big Ten in attendance, right? We're top 5-6 nationally EVERY YEAR. Haven't been out of the top 20 in decades. IU is not missing your 50 bucks.
-
That would make you part of the problem. Believe me, Fred Glass couldn't care less what you think. Especially if you are not supporting the program. You just don't get it.
-
Ding ding ding. Crean isn't going anywhere.

HOO HOO HOO HOOSIERS!!

Those of you who have seen this kid play, what former Hoosier do you think his game most resembles?
-
He took the final snap of the game on Saturday. I think he was a decorated QB in HS. Sounds like Knorr and Johns swapped Covington for Laray Smith. I think they like having a "wildcat" style guy available when needed. There is a whole chapter of the playbook that got pulled after Roberson transferred. This gives them an option to be more multiple and not burn Diamont's redshirt.

I see what you did there... Carry on sir! -
"So we played a lot of young guys last year. We recruited 15 guys to that side of the ball (defense). Got 10 guys back, and you'll see some young guys in the mix. We're going to be young, we're going to be more athletic, we're making a change, we're going to be a work in progress. But from what I saw in spring, we're going to be significantly improved on D."
