NGW had a weird argument a year ago that social media will predict where a player goes. So it could be he is just some random. And he was never connected prior to this year. Maybe whoever saw him defend Woody and reached out for him to leave the message board and start a twitter acct and is getting fed info by the staff now. In return he keeps defending tooth and nail.

I check the X profile but refuse to follow. The arrogance of the burners make me think it’s the same person running all the accounts.

Probably purposely out of the loop. I’d assume his going after Woodsons job played a role in that. But he also has a job to do and that’s cover recruiting. Hard to cover something the staff doesn’t do throughout the year.

Maybe. I doubt that though concerning starting. If he earns it great but I think a sophomore Rice and Carlyle are better and are coming to start. Galloway will be the 6th man. He tried to do 10 men with less talent before. I think by the time the roster fills out he will have 10 players. Them with injury he will shorten the bench. Rice, Carlyle, Mgbako, Reneau, Ballo Cupps, Galloway, Turner, Then fill the last 2 spots with players yet to be named.

I’m going to be surprised if Trey starts. Play a lot sure but I see him coming off the bench with the 2nd unit. Bc you know there will be a second unit. lol

Michigans top site at the beginning of the portal window thought he was a lock to them. Now those thoughts have dropped significantly.

How did UK pay their foreign players? As I listened to a Michigan podcast over the last week they discussed how Golden from FAU would get NIL since he is from Russia. There are schools that have figured it out. And as this podcast host said, it’s better to not talk about it. lol. Safe to say IU figured it out with Ballo.

It’s how Coach K got it done. It’s how Oh golly gee Roy Williams got it done. It’s how Calipari, Pitino, Izzo (if you believe Purdue fans concerning Dawson), and Self have all gotten it done. Notice that’s basically the coaches of the top blue bloods over the last 30 years. Also that’s when IU fell behind. I’m thrilled the boosters have stepped up to get IU back into the mix. Applaud them all.

My advice is always think they aren’t coming until they do. It’s fun to discuss and I do enjoy the scoop from those who get it. But I never think it’s done until it’s been officially announced.

And that’s a hefty amount. But not tops in the country of what online is to be believed. It’s top 10 but not what Kansas, Duke, UNC pay. I’m curious what UK will start splashing around for their new coach. Rather get IU’s guys locked up before UK gets organized and starts shooting the money cannon.

lol. Yes I’m very much a realist and taking the world as it is. Saying that the world would be a better place if it would just act the way I wanted it to. Haha. The idea you have for colleges not being a place for professional sports isn’t bad per se. But the US Supreme Court has already ruled the way the universities governed by way of the NCAA was not actually legal and they were exploiting people. College sports has always been dirty. Heck even as far back as the early 1900’s schools were paying people to play on their who were not students. Even printed on the NCAA website if you want to look it up. Why have local high school sports? They are also state funded. I’m a massive sports fan and love European soccer. Their system is probably way better than ours, but talking to some former euro players who never made it professionally but were viewed as quality players as youths, they think the US system is better bc of the educational aspect. Rest assured, state funds are not paying for the athletic department at IU. So there isn’t tax payer dollars going to it other than what is willfully given. Totally agree that the love of money is the root of evils. But if people are smart money can make their lives so much easier. Saying that as someone who was raised on govt assistance and now living a nice standard of living. Money is just a tool, nothing else. back to the topic, I agree we need Ballo commitment soon if it’s going to happen.

It’s been a pro league under the table for decades now. IU just didn’t participate in that and has faded to below mediocrity. I’m not sure why a player making money has any effect on a fan liking a sport. That would be like me not wanting to have anything to do with the business you work for because they pay their employees. Go listen to Joel Klatt’s podcast that dropped this morning. It’s football focused but he goes into NIL in the first segment and provides some solutions that are sound imo. And it’s things that I’ve heard reporters from top football programs talk about. So the ball is moving behind the scenes for sure.

I’d want to have input for sure. Give me the candidates and the pecking order. But I’d also ask is this a final four level player? If the answer is no, go get a new list. But I wouldn’t stop donating.

And I guess I don’t see the downside if donors don’t get the expectations met? To me that means a coaching change will occur. These donors aren’t shelling out major money bc they aren’t invested in the success of the program. That money isn’t going away. If the rumor of 6+ mil is true that’s literally a rounding error for the people donating. It’s not going away. Now and can see it drying up for Iu football or women’s basketball etc. but honestly I don’t care about any of those sports. I’m an IU basketball fan and it’s the flagship program. NIL is to IU’s benefit and to think it’s going to disappear before revenue sharing is just fear based thinking.
