Well now, isn’t this right here some passive-aggressive d-baggery. -
(2025) - (C) Malachi Moreno to Kentucky
Demo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Moreno’s time as a somewhat under-valued kid is about to come to a crashing end. And, yeah, I know he’s a top 30-ish kid now. No, he’s better than that. Hopefully, IU being in early is significant or the Barrel Rick stuff proves accurate because everyone’s gonna be in here. -

Strictly a lottery ticket at this point, but I’m holding on to that one for dear life. And if you haven’t watched it, there’s a YouTube video from just a few weeks before he got hurt of his team(Atlanta Express) playing Bronny James’s team(Strive for Greatness) on ESPN. You could not watch that without inescapably concluding that Newton was a better prospect. No disrespect towards Bronny, Newton was just a Guy. -

Curious little note if IU should end up with Carlyle and Rice: when Ya got here and IU was offering every kid with a pulse in Georgia it looked like that was going to be a cornerstone piece of their recruiting strategy. Of course that’s not really how it’s shaken out. But, Carlyle(Milton HS before going to OTE), Rice(Covington East) and Jakai Newton(Newton HS) are not only Atlanta area kids, they’re from the same CONFERENCE. The talent down there is just nuts. -
Haven’t been to Hinkle in ages, but it’s always comforting to hear that some things never change.

This right here. Every single word of it. -
Sara Scalia - Magnolia Campobasso (Italy)

Tominaga! Dude has crushed a lot of Hoosier dreams this year, I’d hate him if he wasn’t, ya know, an awesome kid, -

Like this hire. Thought he might end up at Illinois with Underwood. -

ISU’s resume in the A-10 would have made the tournament, no problem. That, combined with receiving a 500% or more pay raise is why it would be a no brainer move for Schertz. -
(2024) - SF Bryson Tucker to Washington via Portal

Don’t remember where, but I saw someone comp Tucker to Kerry Kittles. That’s a strong call, right down to the slightly funky action in the jumper. -

Has studied a ton of Edey film. Literally fires his lead elbow at the face of a kid who’s making no effort to contest.

Seriously? I just looked at her thought, “Wow, kid looks just like his Mom.” Ok, that’s funny.

If you’re the Fever you obviously take Clark for a million good reasons, but, my Lord, Bueckers is a good player. There is literally no roster construction she can’t improve.

See, this is why parents can never give up social media. What parent wouldn’t love telling the entire world that they call their kid Liky? And Happy Birthday to the young man.

IU needs to recruit Lawrence just to keep him from having career nights against them twice a year.

It’s my understanding, and, again, never met him, that he is intense in a way that would make Danny Hurley look at him a little sideways. But he’s won something like 5 D-2 Naty’s, so clearly whatever he’s doing works. And he’s only, maybe, 40, so if he can level up he’s got the chance to just keep going. -

This will be interesting to watch for a couple of reasons: 1) McCollum has been wildly successful in D-2 and he could the next Josh Schertz. 2) Never met the man but there are a not insignificant number of people around the basketball world I inhabit who maintain that he is stone nuts. We’ll see what happens with more exposure and scrutiny. -
Obviously, additional context needed, but I’d be willing to bet that Tyson Walker’s stat line at Northeastern looked a lot like that. If you told me that mystery kid would come in and just own the team like Walker has I’d be down with no additional questions asked. Lacking that piece, would have to chew on it a little bit.

If everything you read is true that Muss has worn everybody out at yet another stop, I imagine he can be had. -

We've blown right on by scouting the stat line and moved on to scouting a single element of the stat line. 'Cause that's how the great ones do it. -

Played in the same League as Akai Fleming, though not at the same time, so even if their isn't some sort of at least tacit connection I can't imagine they don't know pretty much all the same people. -
I watch a fair amount of OU and Uzan was a more confident shooter as a freshman. He never got into any kind of comfortable groove this year, to the point where he was turning down looks at times. But he's a good defender, he's a tough kid, and he takes care of the ball. He's got a chance to help somebody.

I’m sure his shooting will improve. That wouldn’t be my problem with him. My problem is his switchability in Woody’s auto switching system. His lateral movement is just not good. He looks to me like a small ball 4 in an open system. If he’s switching from say 4 to 3 he’s probably fine. But if he’s on the perimeter switching 1-3 you’ve got a problem. Teams are gonna hunt him, put in ball screen and get him switched on to their best matchup and he is not gonna hold up. -

Imagine so, though his appeal was always sort of lost on me.
