Transfer Portal w IU Interest
Demo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I like Ballo a lot but, I can’t lie, dropping low 7 figures on a kid you’re gonna have to sub O for D in endgame situations sticks in my craw a little bit. -

Be it in Bloomington or elsewhere, Ballo’s gonna get a handsome bag somewhere. -

You may be generous here. Not sure you can even do it for short stretches. -
In response to Stu’s laments about the human tendency to fall back on familiar listening choices, I’m trying an experiment this summer and devoting Saturday yard work listening to unfamiliar acts only, This morning’s choice was Loud Songs for Quiet People by Sweet Nobody. They’re a California indie 4-piece with only a couple of albums out. Really a fun listen with great energy. The vocalist is a woman named Joy Deyo and she’s terrific. Thumbs up.

Different question, assuming that’s a question given the use of a period: If a post is dropped into a thread and it provides no information, insight, analysis or clarity and will be quickly forgotten, did it really happen? -

Along with all of the current players in his comments, Hood-Schifino’s there and, and for some reason I love this, Al Durham. Al’s such a great kid. -

Wonder how often Monson looks into his nightly scotch and thinks, “What in God’s name made me think going to Minnesota was a good idea?” That dude had Gonzaga rolling. Could have been Mark Few. -

It wasn’t that what he did was special. It just demonstrated that he was willing and able to use a guy who was more dynamic off the bounce and would tailor some things for him. JHS wasn’t explosive enough to beat guys cold so they’d run a ton of zoom to get him the ball on the move. He did that a fair amount with Galloway last year, though not with Cupps, and it wasn’t as effective because Gallo isn’t as good. The other thing they did a lot was set their high ball screen as a flat screen so he’d come off it as a straight line drive instead of perpendicular. Didn’t do that for anyone last year. X & O genius? Nope, just a clear example that he’s ready to exploit matchups. If they’re able to bring in, prayers up, both Rice and Carlyle, they’re not gonna look for 50 post touches a game. They’re gonna get those guys the ball on the move and expect them to distort the defense and make reads and plays. Haven’t see Rice enough, but Carlyle can beat guys cold. The last guy on this campus on who could do that was Yogi. I promise that they’ll have end of game plays next year running 1 out with no screener for Carlyle and him just finding a shot. -
Braylon Mullins (2025) SG - to UConn

Quite a stat. Honestly, I'm surprised it's happened that often.

The Pope thing is a problem for me, too. I really like the guy and I'd like to see him do well to stick his finger in the collective eye of that entitled-a$$ fanbase. And yet, I don't want them happy in any way for any reason. Coining this the pUKe Paradox.

I’m sure Jimerson took 1 look at ISU tape and wet himself. Perfect for him. No way he was leaving that. I don’t really get what Griffen’s doing if it’s not a straight money grab. That system is such a great fit for him. No way he’s better anywhere else.

I know Clark is from California, but the guy who clashed with Brad Underwood is going to play for……Mick Cronin. Huh

I think the big issue for Smith with a lot of kids is gonna be the insane travel. The idea of a Northern California school playing in the ACC is stone nuts. Both those kids talked about getting closer to home and Bloomington may not be close to Atlanta, but at least it is drivable.

Nice sales job by Smith.

(2025) - SG Akai Fleming to Georgia Tech

Wasn’t happening, Mullins is clearly the priority here, but when he goes out and gives them like 12 a game as a frosh and then is all ACC as a Soph I’m gonna look at Ya with my “I’m not angry, just disappointed” face. -
2 things, though Home Jersey is the guy on this subject, no question: 1) The UConn fanbase has always struck me as a really, really good one. They're insane without being, ya know, INSANE. 2) There's a saying in the car business that there's an a$$ for every seat. There isn't a better fit in the country than this one. I hope the dude never leaves.

https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/iu-basketball-recruiting-qa-with-the-father-of-5-star-2024-commit-bryson-tucker/ Really good Schumann interview with Tucker’s dad. Side note: worked out with Gabe Cupps, because of course he did. -

Yup. And the thing with Ballo, showing my age here, he reminds me of having Dale Davis. Not for his game, but for the fact that he’s the biggest bada$$ on the floor and nobody wants any part of that guy. That’s a really underrated trait. A Coleman Hawkins-type kid is not woofing at Ballo. -

Agree completely. They’ve got to add a big. Probably a couple. I can’t get my mind around NOT wanting a physical, experienced rebounder/defender/PnR finisher who doesn’t need shots. Would be a huge get. -
Correct. Is there a more obscure outpost in power conference sports than Pullman, WA? They wildly over-achieved and the kid who hadn’t played in 2 years was 1 of the core reasons.

Memory ain’t what it used to be, but I seem to recall he was 130ish or so by Rivals and Sheehey was either outside the 150 or barely inside of it. The best example is probably OG, who wasn’t ranked anywhere. -

UK fans don’t deserve that guy. Good dude, or seems to be. Paid his dues. Incredibly fun offense to watch. Teams always achieve. And he’s gonna get crapped on by those creeps because he’s not gonna win the presser. -

I'm really looking forward to finding some Reynolds games because there seems to be a lot of love him or hate him here, depending on when people see him.
