I don’t understand why Carlisle isn’t cross matching Siakem on to Lopez. After watching Turner completely unable to recover back to him the other night I was sure that was an adjustment they were gonna make.

It’s got to be killing Nurse having to live with Embiid’s defense. Lord, he just dropped 15 feet on that side ball screen and Brunson still beat him to the rim. He’s moving like a 60 yo man.

Yup. This is a ridiculous conversation. Cupps wasn’t supposed to be Boogie Fland. He was recruited as a 4-year developmental guy and culture building piece. I seem to recall lots of folks around here contending that was exactly what IU should be recruiting. That he got thrown in the deep end and flailed some is not on him. If there are people around here who remember Jordy Hulls being a miles better freshman than Cupps, I would submit they have a romanticized memory of Hulls. Go check his stats, I guarantee they aren’t significantly better, though to be fair, his team was certainly worse. While you’re at it, and I’m too lazy to do it for myself, but check out Michael Lewis’ stats. I promise they weren’t better and he was playing for 1 of the greatest coaches in history and for a team that was certainly better than last year’s. Jesus Christ, people need to give that kid a break and let him grow into the player he’s gonna be. I swear.

Looks pretty landlocked and like the high major level might be pretty fast for him. But he had a couple of nice statistical games against decent competition, 14/5 against Kansas St and 18/11 against Evansville. Given the limited opportunity available at IU should things go well next year, a kid like this is probably about where you’re gonna be.

Acuff’s an interesting case. He has stretches in games where he can get literally anything he wants and when he’s making shots he’s the best kid on the floor against pretty much anyone. But you’ve got to figure out how coachable he is. It was clear watching IMG that there were guys who didn’t like playing with him. Khani Rooths didn’t even bother to try to hide it. And the game I saw live in Indy he got so emotionally sideways in the 3rd qtr that they sat him for a long time in an elimination game they were losing. So is there just some immaturity and maybe a bit of selfishness going on or is there more to it? If you’re gonna sign that kid and give him the keys you better know.

Supposedly Tommy Lloyd gave serious thought to the Washington job because Zona’s NIL program is subpar. You gotta think Holloway will certainly be available.

I like Ant a lot. He may even be right. But, man, there are so many pieces to incorporate and get acquainted here that in November they may look like the ‘76 team some moments and the ‘09 team other moments in the same games. This will be an undeniably interesting season.

While watching the T-Wolves-Suns last night couldn't get over how bad that situation is in Phoenix. Durant, 36 before next season starts, has 2 yrs/106 mil on his deal. Beal, 31 and with his shot knees, has 2yrs/104mil, with a player option the year after at 57mil and a full freaking no-trade clause. Booker, at least only 28 next year, is about to start his supermax at 4yrs/221mil. And they have no draft pick control basically forever, so they can't even bring in cost controlled talent. And they just got their a$$ straight whooped by Anthony Edwards, 23, Jaden McDaniels, 23, and Karl-Anthony towns, 28. Then you look at OKC, you look at NO, and these guys have no chance. The Beal thing is incomprehensible to me. Dude will never play 50 regular season games again and you're basically paying him 1 mil/game. They are as clear an example of irrationally aggressive ownership as we'll ever see.
