Braylon Mullins (2025) SG - to UConn
Demo replied to Barrel Rick's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Offered by UConn. The young man has officially blown all the way up. -
Let me guess, you work for the Alaska State Dept of Tourism?
-
Wow. Major kudos to Lamont Paris for taking that one on.
-
I like it, but what a weirdly random power conference series. At least, I assume it’s home and home.
-
Tim Buckley leaving South Carolina to join Wes Miller’s staff at Cincinnati. The guy is a great add for literally any staff.

Interesting roster construction. 3 posts, 4 long wing types, 4 creators and 1 traditional 2. -

https://www.zagsblog.com/2024/05/28/malachi-moreno-updates-recruitment-after-kentuckys-mark-pope-watches-him-at-usa-camp/ Literally the same quote regarding IU as Mike’s article. Also includes some comments about other schools in his recruitment. -
Ledlum and Dingle lose in court. They’re done.

B10 Basketball Recruiting Thread
Demo replied to hoosierpap's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Because the national guys have all seen 1, maybe 2, Illinois games and they see a 6’5” dude playing in the B1G and make a bad assumption. Every actual B1G follower knows the deal. Another egregious example from back in the day: Chuck Hayes at UK about 20 years ago was about as pure a 6’6” post guy as you’d ever see. And every Uk game the announcers would call him a wing or a 3 as he’s pounding kids on the block because he’d hoist up 1 bad 3 per game. -

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/40233577/source-lithuania-kasparas-jakucionis-commits-illinois Illinois’ starting PG just landed. Has already played with the FC Barcelona senior team in the Euroleague at 17, which is pretty nuts. Blew up at the Basketball Without Borders event, but no one recruited him because the assumption was that he’d play this year in the ABL and then go straight to the draft. Must be a smoking NIL package. -
The product is pretty damned spectacular at this point and I'd like to think that the decision makers looking at the '27 regs would be really, really careful with messing with the basics of the aero package. Just take 1 look at what's happened to F1 with the insane turbulence those things create. I will say this, and I will die on this hill: the 1 change I'd love to see to Indy, and it will never, ever, happen, is that I'd love to see the race moved to Saturday night. I went to the night race at Texas a couple of years ago and I've done the Gateway night race a few times and those cars at night look like freaking rocket ships. It is breathtaking. Those guys running 230 in prime time would be unbelievable both live and on TV. Plus, if you jack the payday up to something ridiculous, say 10 mil, you might get several Kyle Larson's wiling to cross over. Hell, you might even get somebody like Alonso back. I think the potential is there to make it into something even bigger than it is now. But, yeah, no chance.

Indy delivers every time. Love it. And it gets extra shine running the same day as Monaco, which as much as I love F1 is invariably terrible, and Charlotte, which is interesting for the 1st hundred and the last hundred and the other 400 is just riding with the occasional yellow. Indy’s a 500 mile sprint race.

Blowout win for Indy Heat. Haralson with another big game. The light has really come on for him and he’s playing like he knows he’s the Guy. I know we all love the Indiana Elite kids, for good reason, but Haralson’s the must have. You can do so many things with him. Smiley had a really good shooting game. Ok game for Koehler. Anthony didn’t have a great game and I don’t really love him. But if you’re in to projectability, he’s more to your taste.

Watching Indy Heat(Haralson) ve Team Melo(Anthony) right now. Indy Heat didn’t miss a shot in the 1st qtr.

(2025) - C Kai Rogers to Oklahoma

Yeah, this one just screamed the James Brown “recruitment” where you heard about the offer and then never another word from anyone ever again. -

https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/mail-call-indiana-big-east-freshmen-hypothetical-fight-kiyan-anthony Cassidy’s thoughts on IU’s ‘25 prospects. Nothing terribly new but a perspective from outside the cocoon is usually at least a little interesting. -
(2025) - CG Darius Adams to Maryland
Demo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Not a fan of Adams. I just feel like he’s a kid who’s gonna struggle to help you if he’s not making shots. Don’t love him as a defender. He’s not gonna consistently beat high major kids off his bounce. He’s not a facilitator. Right now he needs stuff run for him. But he’s pretty physically immature, so the strength and athleticism has a chance to come. And he’s got a great list so a lot of guys with a better eye than mine like him. But I’d take Mullins over him all day and probably Anthony as well. -

Feel free to read Liam McNeeley's comments about Walsh. He got a top 10 kid, from Texas, no less, and a higher rated kid than, I believe, any player Painter has ever signed The only comments McNeeley's made since he de-committed was not how he hated telling Woody but how he hated telling Walsh. He also got the Ohio Mr Basketball to punt on OSU, a school an hour from his house, to come to IU. In basketball circles, he's very highly regarded young Coach. Is he Painter at this point, of course not. But if you're gonna denigrate him, get your facts straight. -
https://www.on3.com/news/2024-post-spring-post-portal-big-ten-power-rankings-ohio-state-edges-out-oregon-while-nebraska-cracks-top-5/ You really gotta read this one. This super clued in On3 guy has IU last in the B1G and among other things writes about the QB battle between Kurtis Rourke and……. Brendan Sorsby. Ok, maybe he’s actually more clueless than clued in.

I can’t watch the game until tonight, but I did just see the Brown 3 to tie it. Why in God’s name do you not autoswitch the hammer and then foul? I don’t care if they’ve got 5 guys on the floor who shoot it like Trayce, you freaking foul. If that was Carlisle’s design and not Siakem and McConnell brain cramping, and it looked designed, wow. that is just a dead miss by Rick.

The adults deserve the whoopin’ they’re gonna take, no question, and I imagine we’ll see several more of these. But I also have a tough time viewing a kid who reneged on his NIL agreement with FSU and then after being jobbed at Florida made a 6 month pit stop at ASU before heading off to UGA as the poster child for exploited youth. This may be the new normal, but it’s gonna be a gradual process for me to find it not slimy. And I’m saying that as someone who was thrilled to get Ballo, so my hypocrisy is on full display.

Also sticks his finger in my eye by gushing over Darryn Peterson. I need to just move on there.
