It might be a patience problem, but it just feels like a AR-is-not-as-professional-as-he-needs-to-be-and-we-need-to-get-his-attention problem. At least someone thinks that. Steichen certainly implied in his statement that AR has some growth in professionalism to do. But guys like Pittman finding out about it on social media is pretty bad.

Agree. I’m a big believer in adhering to your profiles. You wanted those qualities for a reason and exceptions breed exceptions. But Mallory’s dynamic.

I think that would probably be a pass, but at least in football you know you’re getting the player for 3 years and can use a kid like that to build your program. It’s not like what BYU is supposedly(can’t believe it’s actually true) offering AJ Dybantsa for a guaranteed 1 year and gone.

Ok, this Richardson thing doesn’t pass the smell test. No way it’s on field play. They didn’t hire a HC specifically to develop a young QB and then consciously draft a total ball of clay to pull the chute in roughly 10 games. Nope. They’ve seen something up close, be it maturity, lack of leadership, mental processing, something, that they think’s a dealbreaker.

I seem to recall one of his WR’s being a top 100 kid in ‘26, though I might have that wrong.

It’s pretty easy to see a scenario arise when the roster is at full strength in which Goode’s role gets very niche-y, which is pretty amazing given that he was a 20 min rotation piece on a very good Sweet 16 team 7 months ago. I imagine he’ll find minutes because shooters always do, but there are a bunch of kids on this roster who can play and if Tucker is good enough that he forces minutes I imagine he takes most of them from Luke.

Maybe it’s because I watched Illinois-Ole Miss last night and Illinois is nowhere close right now, but I just finished this game and I’m really, really encouraged. The offense is gonna take some gelling time, but they created a lot of good looks, and, yeah, they’ll go in eventually, and in the meantime they have guys who can just get theirs, so I’m confident that’ll come. Rice’s decisiveness is a sight to see. I also like what looked like some stuff with Reneau facilitating in more than just strictly a high/low thing. I need to go back and look at some of that. But the defense is so far ahead of where I expected and some of the problems last year just weren’t there. Mgbako had a couple of weak moments, but his man/ball awareness and footwork were hell and gone better than last year. And with 1 exception Reneau’s hand discipline was impeccable and that’ll keep him on the floor. And no glaring fundamental problems. Weight sunk, mostly. Wasn’t crossing his feet, love it. Kid’s gonna have a big year. And you’ve got guards applying real live ball pressure. Carlyle’s offense will come, but his half court defense was really good. He’s more disciplined off ball than Galloway and he wasn’t distorting their positioning by overextending the way Gallo does. Have thought all summer it was gonna take maybe a dozen games to get a real sense of what they have here. Not thinking that so much now because this is clearly Rice’s team already and he seems to have his arms around it pretty good. We’ll see what it looks like when the other kids get back, but that was a good 1st show. side note: Man, am I glad Okpara left OSU. That kid’s got a chance to be SEC DPOY before he gets out of Knoxville. He gave Ballo all he wanted.

I watched that game and Illinois’ defense was IU at Penn St-level bad. Their communication looked like 5 guys playing open gym. Ole Miss was running incredibly basic sets, and not even particularly well, and getting any look they wanted.

Would venture to guess that Sisley, Hudson Greer and Gabe Weis are getting into his minutes. Columbus is crazy top heavy talent-wise with the Boozers and Richardson but not a ton after that. So even though Columbus is probably better there are probably more minutes there.

I didn’t get to watch it. How was Boogie Fland playing in this game?

Didn’t see it, but am I correct to assume LSU fell and Texas A&M jumped IU? I’ve become pretty convinced that the only loss this team can take and get in is Oregon in the Conference Championship. I find that incredibly galling given Notre Dame has a buy game loss and no conference championship and I’ll be shocked if they don’t get in. I’d also bet a fair amount that multiple 2 loss teams get in. So the only solution is just win’em all.

I would have said that before Jon Scheyer got the Duke gig. That guy reset the bar for 3rd base.
