This may be the, “no s**t, Sherlock” post of the day, but Langford really is the key to this game. The only Butler game I’ve seen was their loss at SLU. SLU has a kid named Javon Bess, who’s a strong, athletic 6’6” kid. He can make shots, but he’s really about getting to the rim and finishing or drawing fouls. Good player, but no Langford. Butler had no match up for him. He just overpowered whomever they tried on him. Scored 18, but could have had 25 if SLU’s guard play hadn’t been pretty bad. If Langford comes out aggressive early, I think he creates foul problems for Butler on the perimeter. I like this matchup a lot. So, now watch Butler make 15 3’s.

Watching Den-OKC. Currently 4 UK players on the floor at once: Murray, Lyles, Diallo and Patterson. Yeah, there is more to winning NC’s than just talent. But, really, how can Cal have just 1?

(2021) SG Colson Montgomery
Demo replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Huh. Don’t remember the last highlight video of a guard that didn’t include a single jumper. -
Well, they plummeted all the way to #20 on KenPom. 3 losses, including 2 to teams outside the top 100 and they’re still at 20. Of course, 4 loss Purdue is at 14. I’m usually a numbers guy, but actual wins and losses really should mean a little something.

(2020) PG Ethan Morton to Purdue

Yup. More drawn fouls than made shots. It’s like Archie CRISPR’d him. Seriously, a kid with PG skills and Wing length. Love it. -
The definition of no conscience, Markus Howard 7-29 vs Wisconsin. And it looks like Marquette is gonna win it anyway.

Complete aberration. Hey, I’m not down on these guys at all. They’re a tip in from 9-1 and I expect them to be 12-2 when they get to Michigan. They compete hard. Just saying it’s going to be really tough to consistently beat good teams playing this way. Will love to be wrong.
-
We need to get used to it. They’re all gonna be like this. This team plays at a slow pace by design, gets no easy looks, can’t make shots consistently and can’t go on runs. We’ve now played, what, 4 games in a row in the 60’s? Creates a very small margin for error. Everyone wanted the anti-Crean, well we’ve got it. I expect the offensive execution to improve, but this team will not blow out a single good team all year.

How does Johnson get a catch at half court with 10 ft of space?

MSU-Florida is the perfect example of the difference between a competitive game and a good one. Florida can’t throw it in the ocean , but only down 5 because of MSU)s terrible ball security.

Blackmon Sr was one of my hands down, no doubt about it, all time favorite HS players. Loved him. But he is NOT a good coach. Coaches defense like an AAU coach. A poor one.

I’m in a different place on this. To me, locking down the borders isn’t getting every good in state player. It’s getting every good in state player that you want. Romeo, TJD, Brooks, maybe Lander, they’re high profile, must get kids from a strategic perspective. Those kids can’t get poached. A kid like, say, Franklin may help that narrative, and I’m glad he’s coming, but he’s not fundamental to it. At this point, it seems the staff views Leal more like that. 1 other point: If it’s true that Leal would jump on an offer, then you can’t really offer him until you are certain he’s your best option. If Archie wants, say, 2 guards in ‘20, and he views Morton, Love and Burnett as clearly better, than you can’t offer Leal until you’re out on at least 2 of them. Haven’t seen any of these kids, seeing Love next Saturday, but it’s pretty obvious that Archie sees options other than Leal at this point. But if the kid keeps putting up 38 on people, he’s gonna play himself into the best option.

Is Minnesota’s floor new this year or have I just mentally blocked it from the past? Hate it so much.

The 3 undefeateds plus Oklahoma. Anyone else requires some pretty nimble pretzel logic. But, if Milton was healthy, I would love to see UCF as #4.

IUBB vs Northwestern - 12/1 @ 1:00 ET

Agree, and I’ll go farther and say he needs to be the 1st option on every single possession, whether Morgan is on the floor or not. Any set that doesn’t get Langford a touch in an attacking position needs to be scrapped or modified. That action that plants him in the weak side corner and creates a 2 man on the ball side needs to be set on fire. -

Smith may be a smart kid, but he processes what he sees waaayyy to slowly. I’m starting to think his ceiling is a better Freddie McSwain. -

You’ve got to run stuff through Durham. Taylor is the worst defender on the floor. -
Not really sure how Fury wins this fight. Not that big a puncher and doesn’t throw a lot. Wilder can either knock him out or keep his jab in his face for 12 rds and win an easy decision. The next exciting fight Fury is in will be the 1st one.

Yeah, doesn’t get much more promising than that. -

Did you catch the CG announcer saying that CG-LaLu is “going to be a great game”? Yeah, it may be a fun watch for IU fans, but it’s gonna be a beating. Really looking forward to seeing how TJD plays against a beast like Stewart. The couple of times I’ve seen TJD, very small sampling, his motor is not always running. It better be running for 32 minutes against Stewart. -
Shae Patterson goes down with an injury after a tackle that includes a facemask. And the mob in Columbus is.........booing the facemask call. ladies and gentlemen, your Ohio State fanbase.

And don’t forget the Florida non-power 5 schools. CTA loves those kids ranked 150-250 in the state of Florida.
-
Well, certainly looking forward to the Fred Glass press conference Monday where he will express how “encouraged” he is by the direction of the program. I would love to be able to quit IU football. Just can’t do it.

If you downed a shot every time Layne missed a tackle you would be well on your way to Cirrhosis.

Romeo Langford Is Legit, And So Is Indiana
Demo replied to Dalton26's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I fear we’re gonna get a lot of this from Smith. His mental processing in game is a little slow and his instincts/reactions mitigate his physical advantages. If we didn’t know he was a great athlete from his testing, I doubt we would think it by watching him play. He’s polar opposite of Phinisee, who sees and processes so quickly.
