Oh yeah, that’s the whole deal here. These guys all think they’ve been under microscopes in their old jobs, but they have no idea. But I feel good about DeVries in this case because Dolson has had literally a year to profile fits here and I know he, of all people, understands the importance of a temperament fit. That being said, now DeVries has got to do it.

Yeah, did a fair bit of reading about WVU last night and Calhoun was literally the only name coming up. Apparently was an Asst under Huggins for several years. Gotta confess, feel pretty bad, not too bad, about the WVU situation and I’m gonna be rooting pretty good next year.

You’re not wrong.

God, have already thought more about HS recruiting in the last 12 hours than in the last 18 months. How awesome is that?
-
Is THAT what that means? That’s way more concise.
-
Of course that’s true. And if someone provides content that proves correct they deserve the respect they receive and to take a victory lap. If, however, they get it wrong while being obnoxious in the certainty of their conclusions they need to be willing to take accountability. We are in real time watching the opposite of that right now.

I wasn’t. So, since those strike me as pretty reasonable questions given the vitriol with which you’re expressing your disappointment , how about taking me through it? Being new to the game of basketball, I’d love to learn.

I watched several streams of him as a Soph at Julianne and his Jr year at Centerville and saw him twice live at a showcase event Centerville played in. Side note: If we’re back to recruiting high school kids again and you’re into that piece of it, I highly, highly recommend a subscription to NFHS. A million high schools are on it and you can find games of pretty much any kid you want. It was awesome when they were recruiting all the Georgia kids because seemingly every Georgia high school was tied to it. I watched a million Jakai Newton and Kaleb Banks games.

I’m sure you’d have to re-recruit him. But just like the 1st time around I imagine the bag will do the talking.

I watched Powell several times when he had the IU offer and the year he played with Cupps and I didn’t love him at the time. He was 6’6” with the great frame. He was a good athlete, though kind of straight line-ish. Beautiful stroke. Looked like an NBA 2. But he HATED guys getting physical with him and wouldn’t take it into traffic at all even though he could have lived at the line. And his defensive effort was very much tied to his offense. But he played a bunch of minutes for DeVries and if he comes, no problem.
-
Yup. He didn’t reject IU, he rejected a career path he didn’t want to take. Not a single thing wrong with that. Now, if ends up at KU or UNC down the road, seriously doubt that, that would be a pretty giant FU and would rate some pretty lusty booing should that opportunity present itself.
-
Assuming Zrno sticks and Goode wins his extra year, and neither is obviously guaranteed, that’s 4 6’7”-6’8” guys with skill and switchability. That’s a nice start.

Wow, if WVU can’t keep a kid from Huntington, WV that’s just another kick in the teeth. -
Yeah, it may have gotten stale there and time for a move, but if they think they’re just gonna automatically upgrade and that guy was the problem they’re nuts. Dude is a good coach.
-
Tucker missed back to back 3’s here. I cannot believe Dolson hired a guy who’s gonna bring along a son who can’t shoot. Typical mid IU AD decision-making. Smh.

https://247sports.com/player/jalen-montonati-46135970/ Top 10ish kid. Nice initial list
-
The 1st test, does he project big enough for the job or does he have the whole Archie “kid wearing his dad’s suit” thing going on? Pretty confident it’ll be the former.
-
I feel like he had a redshirt in there somewhere. I think he has 1 more year.
-
Now you’re just showing off.
-
I’d probably say something like, “Yeah, can’t believe we hired that stiff. It will be so utterly humiliating to lose to us next year. But don’t worry, ‘cause that’ll never, ever, happen”
-
Thank God, now I just have get past this putting 2 A’s in the 2nd syllable in his 1st name and then I‘m gold.
-
Outstanding information! And also begs the question: which did you think was more likely when you rolled out of bed this morning, IU having a coach by the end of the day or you writing a post using “Frisian”?
-
1 interesting element for the current roster: DeVries got 10/6 out of Amani Hansberry, who’s very similar, though not nearly as good, as Reneau.
-
I’ve already found 1 thing to be annoyed about with Devries. My phone is convinced the V is capitalized and it’s not taking no for an answer.
-
The other element there is the West Virginia deal he took over was dead broken. They won 9 games the year before and returned no rotation guys at all. So he took their ok, but certainly no IU, NIL and rebuilt an entire roster from scratch to the point that he beat Tommy Lloyd, Mark Few, TJ Otzelberger and Bill Self, Otzelberger and Self without his best player.
